FALL TEST DRIVE MEME

FALL TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka
There isn't really much out of the ordinary to note, even. The stone leaves that used to be a danger in Sh'Ka are no longer a danger as the leaves of the responsible trees seem more stable now. Perhaps it's because of the work He Rows did with the Barrys to stabilize the groves. So, luckily enough, both cities get to enjoy a fairly normal fall season.
With the exception of the small, unusually frequent energy storms that happen sporadically in both cities. They never last longer than a few minutes, never cover more than the area of a small building and their effect is hardly as drastic as that of their larger counterpart. Your powers are still being limited or taken away, but for a change your loved ones aren't trying to lure you down a cliff, fortunately. Though something feels off about them. They barely notice you when you catch a glimpse of them. Instead they are shambling on their way, seeming disoriented and distant at best. Should you get too close, you might even hear them groan...
Explore
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Explore the Ships!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Raphael | Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
"You got this, Raph," the large turtle said aloud, squaring his broad shoulders for his pep talk. "You're just dreaming! Yeah! Dreaming a very vivid dream about being somewhere that clearly isn't New York."
The last remaining seconds of wonder after touching the orb were fizzling out, being replaced by Raph's use of right turns while pacing around the fountain. "Okay, so it wasn't a dream," he continued after a pause, brow furrowing deeply the more he frowned. "All that neat information got crammed into your head an' now you gotta figure out what to do with it all." Considering how fast it all went, he groaned, grabbing his head in frustration. "Why isn't Donnie here? He's better at this sort'a thing!"
Despite the grousing, it all eventually subsided. Refocusing, Raphael drew in a short breath, glancing at his surroundings again. "Maybe I can head down that way. Or go in the opposite direction?" In each direction, he shifted, looking down one path before judging another. Which obviously didn't help at all, since they all felt the same way.
With a huff, he crossed his arms. "Or...I can stay here."
Alone, came the thought he didn't want to think about.
His mouth pressed tightly into a thin line around his snaggle tooth, swallowing at the lump forming in the back of his throat. He already felt cold as it was. He didn't need another layer of it falling over him now.
"Okay, we're walking now," he told himself, starting off with a totter in his step. The stiffness would mellow out at some point. Hopefully. "It's fine! Everything's fine!"
2. STORM
"Hello??"
Raph's voice echoed, worry tinging his tone the longer the eerie silence panned out. He shouldn't be wandering aimlessly, but he was sure he saw someone nearby. Someone small. Someone like-
"Mikey?" No, that couldn't be. As he started going after that one, another figure shambled (what) out of the corner of his eye. It forced him to whip his head around, frantically looking for that familiarity. "Donnie??" Again nothing appeared. Nothing made itself known.
"C-c'mon! This ain't funny, guys!" Thinly-veiled desperation rose in the turtle's chest as he stumbled around in the fog. "We have a rule for a reason! No splitting up the Mad Dogz...!"
2!
The first time he hears echoes of Raph’s voice on the wind, he ignores it. The storm already tried that trick on him when he first got here and heard Karai’s voice - it’s not getting him a second time!
But then he hears Raph again… and again… getting closer?
Leo is still pretty sure this is a trick. He searches through the fog for the wall of an old and crumbling building to hide behind, peeking out and watching to see what apparition has stolen his big brother’s voice.
Because it’s not like Raph could actually be here… right?
no subject
"Okay, pull yourself together, Raph," he breathes, gesturing slightly with a shake of his head. "Things are weird. A different kind of weird. But we're gonna get through this." While simultaneously trying to reclaim some sort of calm, his environmental awareness is still off-kilter; perception, like the fog and storm itself, isn't as clear.
From an outside perspective, it looks like a Raph. It sounds like a Raph. And it's definitely going through the motions like Raph.
At the very least, it also has a very distinct stink like Raph tends to have depending on the situation. And depending on how close Leo is within range, it's not hard to get a whiff of him in passing.
no subject
But that means this is actually Raph!
Leo wants to run up and launch himself onto his big brother and never let go, but a few things stop him. One, well, that just wouldn’t be cool, and he is a very cool fifteen-maybe-sixteen-year-old! And two, the last time he was with Raph they had yet another big fight, and he has no idea if Raph remembers that.
So there will be no running at Raph and leaping into his arms. Alas. But there will be Leo very nonchalantly emerging from his hiding place and calling out.
“What are you doing? Going that way is a mist-stake!”
Hah! He kills himself! And he said that so smoothly and absolutely not choking up even a little because he hasn’t seen Raph in ten months, nope.
no subject
That tone! He clearly wants to hug his brother! Or throttle him for even coming up with that! It's kind of hard to tell between the two.
That all subsides immediately when he hunches forward, striding forward to meet Leo halfway. "What's it look like I'm doing? I've been tryin' to look for you everywhere!" Sure, he sounds annoyed, but the look of concern hasn't left his gaze under the furrowing of his brow.
no subject
Or not, since Raph drops it a second later. Leo closes the gap, thinking that if he’s wrong and this turns out to be the storm and not his brother, it will be easier to tell from up close.
“And now you’ve found me!” Leo grins and points with his thumbs. “Hey, so, idea: let’s get out of the storm and then I explain what’s going on?”
no subject
"...Sounds better than stayin' out here," he says after a beat. "Alright. Where's the best place to go?"
no subject
He starts to lead the way, fighting against the itch under his skin that still wants to throw himself at Raph and hold on. “There’s a few people living there, but they should be fine if we crash in the lobby. Me and Dee’s place is across town, but if the storm clears I can just portal us there, no problem.”
no subject
Unaware of the internal conflict Leo is dealing with, Raph shows no signs of vanishing into thin air. He's as solid as solid can be, dutifully following after him without arguing. Although he has to wonder why he's so confident in knowing where he's going...
He has to snort, though, thinking about how the portaling part of the equation isn't happening currently. "Portal us after the storm? Y'mean you can't do it now?"

But when she sees Raphael she pauses and frowns.
"Another one," she observes aloud, then continues forward. "Turtle, right?"
no subject
"No, ma'am! I'm just, uh, very dedicated to my craft!" It's not the best attempt at pretending he's someone cosplaying as a turtle, but it all gets sidelined when he backtracks on the first part of her greeting. "-Hold on, what's that about 'another one'?"
no subject
But then he's paying attention and she shrugs.
"I mean you remind me of Leo and Donnie, though I suppose the body form is different. And the color."
no subject
no subject
"I am Dr. Takemi, and I know Donnie better than Leo. I do not know where they reside, I am sorry."
no subject
"I'm Raph." He then shrugs. "That's alright. I think it's natural not knowing where they are, comin' from us turtles. They're bound to show up at one of these places, right?"
no subject
"Likely. Perhaps try the diner. People are often drawn toward food."
Not to mention it has a brick oven for pizzas outside. Not that she knows of that particular weakness of theirs.
"Or you could use the communicator to contact them."

Donnie didn't want to think about it, but it was hard not to be wary about these sorts of things and bad enough when he didn't know if he could even trust his own judgment anymore. But that voice... Something in him ached when he heard it.
"Just a quick look," he told himself, clutching his tech-bō close as he turned around. "An investigation to look into the possibility that this phenomenon is but another evolution to the torment that these storms have been fashioned to impose upon us. ...okay, that doesn't sound any better, but nevertheless, this must be done. F-for science."
He crept along before he could change his mind. Part of him didn't want to go. He didn't need the heartbreak of seeing his older brother just to confirm he wasn't really here, but the part of him that needed to know spurred him on.
no subject
Because talking out a plan was the best idea. To keep his head on straight, mostly. To distract himself from the loneliness of the once-peaceful-looking landscape he landed in.
Despite the pretense of being large and in charge, the turtle of unusual size still had a very distinct stink about him – one that gave worry and slight panic body with a hefty hint of frustration at the glimpses of shadows that continued to disappear the second he looked in their direction. "–Leo, now's not the time for messin' around!"
no subject
Donnie was feeling conflicted at that. If the storm facsimiles could even reproduce such a stench... He shook his head. But no, what if it really...really was...
He found himself stepping out from behind corner of the building he'd been watching from, still hugging his staff close, but it still took effort for him to finally breach his silence.
"Raph..?"
no subject
But here he was, trying to make sense of why they were avoiding him so much. Wondering how he could miss them when he was sure they were right there. He didn't like it one bit.
That bubble of worry burst when he heard a very soft voice call out his name. Rapidly blinking, Raph turned, finally seeing a familiar face with drawn eyebrows and not the glimpse of the back of an faintly-colored armored shell.
"...Donnie!"
no subject
"Okay, just...just be cool..." he muttered to himself, cautiously stepping towards his brother. Or what looked to be his brother.
...he really hated these storms. He couldn't even confirm through that weird family connection whether it really was Raph or a storm ghost. It was really strange being cut off from his ninpō now that he knew what it felt like.
"Greetings, Raffaello," Donnie said, pulling together some measure of professionalism. "If it is really you. So far you haven't seemed bent on trying to lead me to anywhere suspicious or dangerous, nor have you triggered any troubling memories, but given the first point has only been hearsay and the latter only having occurred once before, I unfortunately do not have any reliable data to really compare this situation to.
"I'll admit, the voice and the smell is an adequate touch, I could almost believe it was really you," he continued before relaxing his arms enough to move his tech-bō, prodding at the bigger turtle's plastron with its tip, fully expecting the apparition to disperse.
no subject
He didn't think he'd be prodded, but he should have expected it from his younger brother. It earned a light snort as he stood there and took it, expression falling flat for all of three seconds.
"Really, Donnie? 'Course it's me! Cut it out."
As much as he could easily play against the other turtle's observations, conflict touched upon his features as a large hand brushed the tech-bō aside. If the prodding wasn't enough, perhaps this would help confirm Donnie's experimentation.
no subject
Before Donnie could contemplate the intricacies of the shifting details, he found his weapon being brushed aside. The response was very Raph-like. So was the expression, even though he wasn't quite sure how to describe that one.
But maybe... Was it really, actually..?
Donnie swallowed at the sudden knot that had formed at the back of his throat, his own haughty expression dissolving into something far more vulnerable, and he was having trouble trying to pull the edges back into place.
Raph's here. He's...he's really, really here.
"S-sorry," he stammered, doing his best to pull himself together. Stupid storms..! "I just had to confirm. Your timing is inconveniently impeccable."
no subject
Oh. Oh, if Donnie was upset, something wasn't right.
Out of all the reactions Raph was used to getting, this one left him mostly unprepared. Watching Donnie's expression fall so quickly made him feel colder than he already was; although the ball of worry rose up again in his stomach, brotherly responsibility and instinct took a step forward together to push it back down.
His other hand gently, heavily rested on Donatello's shoulder. To reaffirm Donnie's findings. To anchor him a bit in his current emotional state. "Hey, hey, listen. Raph didn't count on being here," he said softly, brow knitting all the while. "But now that I am, an' you're also here, we should stick together."

...Well, when in Rome. He's sure not going to question the antics of this place, whether it's a dream or not.
Madoka approaches the wandering turtle with a smile and a wave.
"Hiiii~ I think I'm lost. I don't suppose you've seen a small boy walking around in a maid outfit, have you? About eleven years old?"
