FALL TEST DRIVE MEME

FALL TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka
While everyone has been busy trying to solve an attempted murder mystery, the weather has been busy doing- Well. Being the weather. Some may have noticed the temperatures getting milder and the first leaves to slowly shift their color or even find its way down to the ground, but eventually every He-Row may notice that summer is coming to an end and autumn is back for its rightful turn.

There isn't really much out of the ordinary to note, even. The stone leaves that used to be a danger in Sh'Ka are no longer a danger as the leaves of the responsible trees seem more stable now. Perhaps it's because of the work He Rows did with the Barrys to stabilize the groves. So, luckily enough, both cities get to enjoy a fairly normal fall season.

With the exception of the small, unusually frequent energy storms that happen sporadically in both cities. They never last longer than a few minutes, never cover more than the area of a small building and their effect is hardly as drastic as that of their larger counterpart. Your powers are still being limited or taken away, but for a change your loved ones aren't trying to lure you down a cliff, fortunately. Though something feels off about them. They barely notice you when you catch a glimpse of them. Instead they are shambling on their way, seeming disoriented and distant at best. Should you get too close, you might even hear them groan...

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Explore the Ships!
He Rows new and old can make use of the massive hangars in the northern part of Temba to access the equally large Glitter Food and Peanut Party. When He Rows are off the planet, these serve as their homes, their bases of operations, and their vessels all in one. Each He Row has a room assigned to them on their ship, one only they can access. There are also spaces for workshops and labs, for cooking and growing things, and even, shockingly enough, a large green space with trees, grasses, groundcovers, and even a large lake with sand leading on toward it. It shares a wall with the fake aquarium that makes up a wall of a bar like the Deep End. So it's a great place to go swimming provided you remember to wear something. All in all there is a massive ship to explore, and maybe you'll even meet your crewmates there.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

A greater reflection, perhaps, but far sadder and wiser. He isn't likely to playfully try to spar with Genesis any time soon, even if he finds a sword to use.

"More powerful?" He is curious. "What are you capable of?" He knows his powers have been greatly reduced here, albeit he can still do some things.

He does honestly wonder if he would have lost his mind had Genesis not pushed things at Nibelheim. But he doesn't want to think too much about it. He imagines it would have happened regardless, really. He had been at the breaking point as it was.

Alas, and to think Genesis would welcome a spar. Though perhaps he would just miss Angeal more for the interaction.

"I am not quite certain," Genesis admits. "But I am to be a Weapon of the planet going into the next age. Her protector should the others fail. And I hear they did."

That blonde boy, the claimed soldier. The one he remembers with Zack. But that's not of import at this moment. He was changed by the planet and he accepts that. He would not be her destroyer, but her knight when the knight that had set himself forth could no longer serve.

"But I can say for certain that my mastery of magic has been further enhanced due to my connection with Her grace."

[personal profile] imjustaman 2024-12-30 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps someday, if he is able to heal more. Right now, the pain of everything he did is still too fresh.

This is a shocking declaration, however. "A Weapon? Will you be changed into something ... not human?"

The previous Weapons certainly hadn't been human.

"As if I could truly be called fully human before," he says with a shrug and a wave of his hand. No, the cells in him had just been... replaced. With her power. Her essence. Her purity.

"Between being a Soldier and my very origin, I was never like others. Except Angeal. Except you."

And even they had not been quite the same as Sephiroth.

“Yes,” Sephiroth says quietly. “We were always different. And now, it seems, we are both quite different than even then.”

He had arrogantly proclaimed himself a god in his insanity. Now, he knows he is not—but he still has all the power, all the knowledge that he had gathered from the Lifestream and Jenova in addition to what the scientists did to him. He can’t access all of it here, but he does have some of it. He wonders what to do with it, really. Can he be of use here?

“I am happy for you,” he continues then. “You have found a worthwhile purpose.”

[personal profile] silent_sacrifice 2025-01-02 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Quite a bit more different than ever, yes. Genesis sighed because really, that was no pleasure for him to consider. But he tried his best to ignore it most of the time.

"One could more accurately say it is a purpose in waiting. And it keeps me apart from the Lifestream. Never again shall I be close to the friends who I most failed."

He must exist apart from them, after all.

"... Oh. I should have realized." He frowned. "That is a curse of immortality." He had wanted such immortality in his insanity, but he wasn't sure what to think now that he was sane.

[personal profile] silent_sacrifice 2025-01-03 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
It really was. To be forever separated from the one of them that had truly, through and through, been good. Zack as well he supposes, he owed that boy so much. Apologies to start with. Which he could never bestow.

"A burden one must live with. Not all of the gifts of her divine majesty are sweet. Some possess the bitterest edge."
imjustaman: (sad_3)

[personal profile] imjustaman 2025-01-03 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Sephiroth nodded slowly, frowning more. "... And do you feel it's worth it in spite of this?" Not that there would be much Genesis could do about it if he felt otherwise.

"... It's also possible we may never be allowed to return home," he remarked. He was sure he could find a way if he had his full powers. That was probably exactly why they had been capped. The other Sephiroth could teleport too. He could probably get them all home, but of course that was not to be allowed.

[personal profile] silent_sacrifice 2025-01-05 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Does he feel like it is worth it? What a complicated question that he has been asked here. Perhaps not. But he also knows it is owed.

"That I do not believe," Genesis answered, dismissing Sephiroth's concern with a wave of his hand. "We have a purpose, and we shall achieve it."
imjustaman: (Default)

[personal profile] imjustaman 2025-01-05 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Sephiroth wouldn’t ask further on that, although the non-answer led him to suspect Genesis might not think so or might have complicated feelings on it, the latter of which he had already indicated from his words. Sephiroth had mixed feelings too. Perhaps Minerva had felt it was only fair after all the destruction Genesis had caused.

… Had she also caused Sephiroth’s plan to backfire and his sanity to be restored? What if she was why he had ended up here? Maybe she had sent him away altogether and didn’t want him back.

… That would also be fair, he felt.

“Apparently it’s taking some time for anyone to make headway on this purpose,” he remarked. “Some are beginning to wonder if there is any way to actually achieve it.”

[personal profile] silent_sacrifice 2025-01-07 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, they have not had legendary warriors at their side before, now have they?" Genesis asks, smirking to himself. "Surely we are more than set for the battle of fighting natural disasters. Not rebuilding, though. I swore never to help in a barn-raising again in my life when I joined Soldier, and i am not changing my ways."

Because he did not want to be considered a country boy when he had grown so metropolitan in joining Shinra.
imjustaman: (smirk_2)

[personal profile] imjustaman 2025-01-07 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Heh." Sephiroth smirks a bit too. "That should give us an advantage in that particular type of scenario, yes."

He tilts his head a bit. "What if we can't get home unless we help rebuild?" He knows that Radley person worries about that. But perhaps Genesis is in no hurry to get home....
silent_sacrifice: Genesis Rhapsodos from Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core (Default)

[personal profile] silent_sacrifice 2025-01-09 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that was an idea that makes Genesis sneer in distaste. No, he was not going to be building things. It was not suited to him.

"Then I will serve as an archivist or a poet, thank you very much," he notes firmly. "I will not perform such work. There must be others better suited to it."
imjustaman: (Default)

[personal profile] imjustaman 2025-01-09 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
“Hm. Yes, it would be useful for them to learn how to record things since so much of their history was lost,” Sephiroth muses. “If we fix things for them, we don’t want anything to go wrong again in the future because of their sloppy record-keeping.”
silent_sacrifice: Genesis Rhapsodos from Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core (Default)

[personal profile] silent_sacrifice 2025-01-12 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Lost? History lost? Well, that makes Genesis's eyes brighten.

"Then I shall have to find it for them," Genesis says with a smile. "See if I can commune with the planet to dredge up their ancient secrets!"
imjustaman: (smirk_2)

[personal profile] imjustaman 2025-01-12 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Sephiroth smirks a bit at that. “This planet may not be as communicative as Gaia, but you’re welcome to try,” he says. “It seems the people here have tried everything else.”

He has actually tried tapping into the planet himself, without much success. Whether that’s because it doesn’t talk in general or just because it won’t talk to him specifically, he’s not sure. Or maybe he just doesn’t know how to do it on a planet that doesn’t appear to use the Lifestream system.
silent_sacrifice: Genesis Rhapsodos from Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core (Default)

[personal profile] silent_sacrifice 2025-01-13 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Surely all planets were that communicative. That was just the nature of lifestreams, was it not? He could not imagine a planet so distant. Though he supposed humans were hardly able to connect with them, so...

"Well, clearly they have not learned the vaunted skills of communication. They were not in the arts."
imjustaman: (Default)

[personal profile] imjustaman 2025-01-13 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh?" Sephiroth was further amused now. "You're so sure of that? Have you spoken with every person here and established that none of them have such a background?"

Part of him was relieved at the thought that maybe not all planets used the Lifestream system. He had never liked the idea of giving up who he was to meld into some mystical force with everyone else who had ever lived and lose all individuality. That was one thing the same about him whether sane or insane. Perhaps even moreso now that he was finally his true self again. He never wanted to lose that.

[personal profile] silent_sacrifice 2025-01-15 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Could any of them possibly be in possession of it to my level?" Genesis asks, smirking to himself. Come on, Sephiroth. Admit it. He had enough papers published that surely one must acknowledge that Genesis knew how to pick apart the arts.

"And clearly this place lacks in art. Have you seen the decor of this little shop?"

It was... tacky in Genesis's refined opinions.
imjustaman: (smirk_2)

[personal profile] imjustaman 2025-01-15 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Heh. I'll admit, I haven't encountered anyone with as much passion about it as you," Sephiroth smirks.

He glances around the diner. "They could do better. Although if it were possible, I'm sure they would."
silent_sacrifice: Genesis Rhapsodos from Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core (Default)

[personal profile] silent_sacrifice 2025-01-17 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. Genesis merely tips his head. At least Sephiroth could admit to Genesis's mastery in this one area in particular. He has learned to take the battles he can win and run with them.

"Or perhaps they lack in taste. I shall see that things are improved. It is better to be comfortable when toiling, is it not?"
imjustaman: (sweetsmile)

[personal profile] imjustaman 2025-01-17 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Sephiroth leans back in a bit of amusement. "And how will you go about this? Paintings aren't exactly readily available here."
silent_sacrifice: Genesis Rhapsodos from Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core (Default)

[personal profile] silent_sacrifice 2025-01-17 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"No?"

The man pouts, just a little. Don't tease him, Sephiroth. He is trying.

"Well, I suppose there could be some nice curtains to start with. And table cloths. Candles as well."
imjustaman: (Default)

[personal profile] imjustaman 2025-01-17 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Those would be nice," Sephiroth agrees. "You'd think we'd be able to find those things. Or make them, if all else fails."
