FALL TEST DRIVE MEME

FALL TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka
While everyone has been busy trying to solve an attempted murder mystery, the weather has been busy doing- Well. Being the weather. Some may have noticed the temperatures getting milder and the first leaves to slowly shift their color or even find its way down to the ground, but eventually every He-Row may notice that summer is coming to an end and autumn is back for its rightful turn.

There isn't really much out of the ordinary to note, even. The stone leaves that used to be a danger in Sh'Ka are no longer a danger as the leaves of the responsible trees seem more stable now. Perhaps it's because of the work He Rows did with the Barrys to stabilize the groves. So, luckily enough, both cities get to enjoy a fairly normal fall season.

With the exception of the small, unusually frequent energy storms that happen sporadically in both cities. They never last longer than a few minutes, never cover more than the area of a small building and their effect is hardly as drastic as that of their larger counterpart. Your powers are still being limited or taken away, but for a change your loved ones aren't trying to lure you down a cliff, fortunately. Though something feels off about them. They barely notice you when you catch a glimpse of them. Instead they are shambling on their way, seeming disoriented and distant at best. Should you get too close, you might even hear them groan...

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Explore the Ships!
He Rows new and old can make use of the massive hangars in the northern part of Temba to access the equally large Glitter Food and Peanut Party. When He Rows are off the planet, these serve as their homes, their bases of operations, and their vessels all in one. Each He Row has a room assigned to them on their ship, one only they can access. There are also spaces for workshops and labs, for cooking and growing things, and even, shockingly enough, a large green space with trees, grasses, groundcovers, and even a large lake with sand leading on toward it. It shares a wall with the fake aquarium that makes up a wall of a bar like the Deep End. So it's a great place to go swimming provided you remember to wear something. All in all there is a massive ship to explore, and maybe you'll even meet your crewmates there.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

Sephiroth pauses at that. Where would they be available? He hasn't been here long and looking for pleasant fabric was rather the last thing on his mind.

"Ah. Hm. We ... may need to ask someone who has been here longer," he admits. "Or try to program the Replicator machine to make something."

Replicator machine? That perked Genesis right up.

"Yes, let us explore this machine. I'm not ready for the general public yet."

They've probably heard of him. He doesn't need fans yet.

Amused, Sephiroth leads him to the building where the Replicator is. He has used it a bit and sets about trying to program it for fabric. "Any color preference?" Red, he imagines.

Genesis of course watches Sephiroth work quite closely. He's intrigued by the whole process.

"Now we both know that is a ridiculous question to ask," Genesis sighs. "That is a diner. For table cloths it should be blue and white check. Or green and white. And the curtains should be white and on the thinner side, to let in the light but also give the option of a muzzier sort of look."

Red was for higher end restaurants, Sephiroth. Keep up!

Sephiroth is amused, but also looks nostalgic. Ah, he's missed this, honestly.

"Let's hope the machine understands all that," he deadpans as he tries programming it for blue and white check.

Surely the machine should. Technology is supposed to be vaguely intelligent. If Scarlet could make mostly autonomous attack droids, this machine could...

Well, he's never haerd of a matter replicator so it could do nothing for all he knows.

"If it doesn't, then you did not explain it properly."

"If it's capable of making blue and white check, then that's what should come out," Sephiroth replies. He knows he programmed it right.

Something appears and he holds it up. "Does this meet your approval?"

"Wonderful to hear," Genesis says as he waits and... Oh. It's just there. Already.

"Intriguing. I'm glad the Science Department had nothing like this."

"Heh. Yes, I'd hate to think what they would have tried to make." Sephiroth looks it over. It looks fine to him, at least.

"... Oh, did I mention each of us only has five uses of this machine each month?" It may take a while to decorate the entire diner. Especially as he doesn't feel like using up all of his slots on decor.

Yes, this would work. Genesis took the table cloth and then froze. A limitation?

He looks aghast and offended.

"That is ridiculous. How could something so wonderful be so limited?"

[personal profile] imjustaman 2025-01-29 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm not sure why that limit is imposed. Perhaps it's to keep from overloading the machine?" Sephiroth can imagine situations unfolding like in some cartoons where that happens.

"Economies are built upon scarcity," Genesis laments, shaking his head.

"Hm. Well, at least we have a beginning," Sephiroth says. "Do you want to try any more right now?"

cool to wrap this?

[personal profile] silent_sacrifice 2025-02-03 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes. So many things. But for now, a coffee," he says, smiling to himself.

Time to see if it could be a barista.
imjustaman: (Default)

Sure.

Sephiroth smirks a bit. "Then you are welcome to take over and program it for your favorite kind," he says with a gesture as he steps back.
