Spring 2025 TDM

SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Spring in Temba and Sh'Ka
Spring is a wonderful time where the world wakes up and plants come back to life and animals return from hibernation or migration. Which means the cities are coming back to life. All over both there are young shoots slowly reaching to the sky, enjoying the light and promising to be lush and lovely in the future. Those with sharp eyes will see small creatures that look like dancing mushrooms or spear armed berries. They are shy around new people, though, and likely will seek somewhere to hide away from those who look for them.

There are also frequent rain showers out of sunny skies. The rain is warm and refreshing in a way that brings to mind glacial rivers and fresh mountain springs. It's pure, perhaps purer than anything you've ever experienced back home. They bring life and growth, but also hope. The buildings around the city almost seem cleaner after showers pass, and the sky a little bluer.

In Temba great flocks of sheep like creatures with glowing wool rove over freshly paved streets, pausing here and there to graze. Bright and colorful birds fill the trees as well, moving through the area like they belong. Once or twice you might even see a small mushroom or berry seeming to... ride them? What in the world is going on there? Perhaps someone can answer that question for you, if you wish to ask. Meanwhile in Sh'Ka there is a very different sort of outburst of life. In the area known best for its stone trees there are now flowering vines slowly working their ways up the monstrous growths. They smell faintly of honeysuckle and cucumber, and the local Deleons seem to very much appreciate their presence. The quarry too seems to, slowly, be filling up with clean, fresh water. Maybe, in time, a new lake will form. For now enjoy the chance to splash around if you wish.

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

The city streets of Temba are in large part relatively newly paved and sturdy. Some areas that seem less traveled may show signs of a large machine currently working on doing new work, which is a good sign of progress. Unfortunately the buildings around these roads are not always in as good of condition. Some look like they could topple at any moment. Better to be careful and perhaps avoid walking into places that don't look very stable. But the intact buildings have running water and electricity, so you'll probably be okay if you stick to those.

And yet, in spite of old damages, the city can still be explored. If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist. Or perhaps you won't wander so far from the fountain and you'll find yourself in the Diner, or checking out the mostly intact and increasingly decorated space of the Hotel where many He Rows live. Or, if you wander a bit farther northeast you might run into...

Explore the Ships!
He Rows new and old can make use of the massive hangars in the northern part of Temba to access the shuttles that will carry you up to the currently orbiting Glitter Food and Peanut Party. When He Rows are off the planet, these serve as their homes, their bases of operations, and their vessels all in one. Each He Row has a room assigned to them on their ship, one only they can access. There are also spaces for workshops and labs, for cooking and growing things, and even, shockingly enough, a large green space with trees, grasses, ground covers, and even a large lake with sand leading on toward it. It shares a wall with the fake aquarium that makes up a wall of a bar like the Deep End. So it's a great place to go swimming provided you remember to wear something. All in all there is a massive ship to explore, and maybe you'll even meet your crew mates there. Plus the view of the stars from the dome in the middle of the green space is breathtakingly beautiful. Perhaps even the best view of stars some people have ever had the chance to see.

Try the network!
The network is back up! Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
One of the first things a new He Row learns about upon arriving on Agra-10 (by means of touching a tempting glowing orb) is about the energy storms that ravaged and damaged the planet. The brave work of past He Rows in the Fall of 2024 has led to the diminishing of these storms. But just because the machines that were creating and sustaining them have been shut down does not mean that the last gusts of their power cannot be felt from time to time.

The weakened remnants of these power-altering storms blow over parts of the planet every once in a while. And sadly one of these last gusts of misery seems to be approaching. You can tell from the darkened sky and the flickering of electronics. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you are caught unaware.

Should you wind up inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and shuts down all technology and magic in its area. Are you going to seek the relative peace of the indoors? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance. One thing is for sure, this micro storm won't last long, no more than an hour at most, but it will be an experience like few others for the time that it is there.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!
