If only she really knew. He wasn’t doing a very good job at distancing those emotions. He was just hiding them, and it was for the better. But as she thanks him, Obi-Wan’s eyes lift with another glimmer of sorrow in them.

He didn’t deserve her gratitude.

But he reached out and placed his hand on hers again. Wanting to at least show his support of her even if she would quite possibly never forgive him if she knew the whole truth.

“I’m here for you, Padme. Whatever you might need.”
