Vaguely he's reminded of Taron Malicos. It scares him, how carefree and pleasant Evangeline acts, and how incredibly at contrast it is with the threat of what could happen to her, what's happened to those like her. He can sense her own undertone of fear in that possibility, the desperation of keeping positive in hopes to stave it off.
