The part about the powers makes sense but everything after that has Steve feeling lost. Humans were racist, sure, but he had no idea what that had to do with Tommy and his running. Was their universe so different that you needed to be a certain type of person to even compete? What was this all like?

He keeps thinking though and thinks, suddenly, that maybe he was only partially correct. He'd said 'us', after all. And something told Steve that Tommy didn't mean white guys with blonde hair.

"Mutants? Like Kitty?" He remembers talking to her about it. The idea that Tommy came from that same place makes him feel instantly sympathetic.

"They don't like people with powers?"
