Bucky likes to think that he's decent at navigating the woods. Sure, he's not great - but he survived a couple years of largely rough living on the front during the war, so how hard can just going out into the forest at the outskirts of the city be? Especially with Steve.
Yeah, hindsight is definitely 20/20. He doesn't know how the fuck he and Steve got separated, but they did. God, he'd just found the guy again. And for Steve, it's been a whole year.
Now Bucky's making his way warily through the brush, shield on his arm and trying to look for Steve without alerting anyone (or anything) else that he's here. This is a mess. Once he finds Steve, he's, like, tying them together at the wrist or something, he swears.
