"Yeah, I did. Just a few hours ago. I couldn't find any of my friends, so... I'm guess I'm alone." She's not sure why she's telling this random adult that she's all by herself. Maybe because he has such a kind face, but that's no guarantee of a good heart. He's a big man, but he doesn't seem like a threat, and Katara isn't exactly defenseless.
She wipes her arm surreptitiously over her face, sniffing once before straightening up a little. It's not good to let strangers see her looking vulnerable when she has no one to back her up. At the very least, her water skin is hanging draped across her chest, ready to be popped open at a moment's notice.
"Millicent. Steve Rogers," she says, repeating their names as if to test them out. They sound a little strange coming from her, like she's never heard the name 'Steve' before. "I'm Katara, of the Southern Water Tribe. You haven't heard of it, have you?"
