Salem was but a simple housecat, and was poorly suited to any inner city, let alone one so cruel as to spring a catnapper on him like this. He was used to being warm and protected from all sides where he could get away with having a pitiful tantrum in peace, and less used to watching his back or listening for death from above. The catnapper, then, was a despicable cheater.
The tantrum was cut short for Salem to declare, "Geh?!" as he was suddenly plucked from the ground like some kind of kitten. He didn't know what to do except go boneless, and wasn't sure if his body would cooperate otherwise. At least he could glare with all of his feet dangling helplessly. Maybe a surprise in return was in order. "I won't speak without a lawyer!" he announced. A man had rights in this country.
