It was supposed to be surprise, to get Salem out of this dastardly grip and scrambling under the nearest surface while this fiend decided if he was truly insane or ate some bad tuna. Salem should have been more prepared for the commitment someone still wearing their least fashionable Dark Ages ensemble would have. That had to mean this one wasn't even mortal, he realized, also much too late.

Salem gave a squirming kick like he had any control over this situation, and said, "Yeah, then we can see how this would go if it was a fair fight!" Maybe if he extended his claws a little more, that would sound like a real threat.
