Library did have a kind of logic to it, though he didn't make this sound like a very good library, and Salem wasn't sure anyone should be taking this book home for the weekend. His recourse for now was to follow anxiously and hope the big guy slipped on the ice. Or maybe someone in the book would see the helmet and try to swap boring stories. Some of the portraits did move as Felwinter tried to place this book in his idea of human history, lifting their noses imperiously or giving a friendly wave, though if one of them opened their mouth there didn't seem to be any sound that came out. If Felwinter wanted to find out what this book might have to say about familiars, he'd have to read it for himself.
"I'm not on the market, if that's what you're asking," Salem answered. "And they'll be back soon for their book, so be careful with those horns. You could put an index out with those things."
