Well, Jon has read his share of fiction as a child, and contrary to popular belief he doesn't spend all his time in the Institute's basement, recording stale statements on a long outdated recording device. And as far as first impressions go, Cal does check several of the boxes in Jon's mental list of general hero tropes. It might not help that his research at times sends him onto some of the... Weirder</> message boards on the internet. And this isn't weird as in the supernatural sense, but rather weird in a 'Martin, what am I even looking at here?!' sort of way.

At least that means that being told to be expected to stop a storm of all things doesn't strike Jon as too odd anymore.
