It's a tie between the invasion and Eddie's words: which one finally made the truth break through Steve's thick head. Because the fluttering? The heat in his face and in his stomach? He felt that way with Nancy, didn't he? He felt that way with Robin before he'd adjusted his feeling to 'Platonic'. He felt that with any girl he'd had a crush on.
And now? Apparently Eddie had wiggled his way into that group. Steve should probably be more freaked about that than he is, but really it is more a relief to figure it out.
