He's not going to need to play it off at all because Steve sees Eddie move forward and surges to beat him to it. He kisses him harder than he meant to, surprising himself with how bad he must have wanted it. It takes a moment for him to back off enough to make it sweet. Even then he's practically vibrating with eagerness to dive back in all over again.
