Originally, she wouldn't have thought freak was a big deal, but now that Billy's explained it, it's just that easy.
The energy in the atmosphere is tense, and Max's body stiffens as she picks up Billy's body language, but in the end, nothing happens, and she plops the lollipop back in her mouth. He stayed under control, and she is not going anywhere.
Mourning in relation to Max's reactions is an understatement, and if Billy wants to know, he just needs to ask. She might not tell him everything, though. The guilt, the suicidal ideation, the fact it attracted an interdimensional ritualistic serial killer? Probably not. Not yet, at least. Processing just all of this is a lot for them both.
Max sighs - dumb boys - poor Robin sounds like she has her hands full.
"How were they treating you like you're stupid?" Max notes the last name for Steve, but not the other two.
"The others were trying. Just differently," Max points out. "And I know you. They didn't."
She closes her eyes. "My friend, her name is El. Or Jane." Her tone sounds almost soft, at least softer then he's probably ever heard from her.
"No one even told you that? Her name. Who she is? How she helped you?"
