FALL TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka
Temba seems almost peaceful, breathing out a sigh of relief after its near destruction. Just southeast of the city one finds signs of the damage in greater evidence. The recent lava flows have taken out large stretches of vegetation, replacing them with fresh volcanic rock left bare at the surface. In some places there's even residual heat given off, especially closer to the volcano that now rests as an unending reminder of what was nearly lost. Meanwhile in the city itself the plants that would normally provide a natural abundance outside of the domain of the greenhouse seem to offer scant pickings, perhaps a result of the intense heat of the summer.
Meanwhile in Sh'Ka fall proves to be a threat, though in a new way this year than in any before. The danger derives from the Blood Vines near the train station. Apparently ash-rich soil only feeds the vampiric plant, and its spines are larger than ever as its vines lie hidden under the mounds of ash, ready for any unsuspecting prey.
Explore
Despite having been protected from being destroyed by the volcano itself and unlike Sh'Ka not having been buried in vast amopunts of ash, Temba still suffered notable damage from the earthquakes that came with the volcano's eruption. Previously restored buildings were damaged and others entirely caved in on themselves leaving them beyond any hope for restoration. The streets and paths are even worse to traverse than they used to be but for what it's worth water and electricity are still working. Most of the time.
Needless to say, exploring is more risky these days as buildings may still cave in without warning and seemingly solid roads may crack open to drop anunsuspecting wanderer into underground caves left behind by the quakes.
And yet the city can still be explored. If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Now what's happening with the hangar?!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Ben Paul | Telltale's The Walking Dead
[It was like waking up from a bad dream. One minute, Ben's standing on a rickety balcony of an apartment that gave way to let him fall. The next, he's laying back up against a broken fountain surrounded by a city that, if he had a hunch in his half-awake and panicked young mind, was definitely not Savannah. As the teen raised off the ground, his attention is brought to the odd floating sphere above his head that, for some reason, he just couldn't ignore the voice in his head to touch the glowy object. Because randomly grabbing objects have always turned out so well for him.
What followed was something traveling into his head. Like a million neurons sending trillions upon trillions of electrons to his brain, filling him with strange information that he could barely comprehend. By the end of acquiring the new information, Ben was left shuddering and stammering, with more questions than answers.
First the living undead, now abducted in some sci-fi city. Ben Paul, what have you gotten yourself into?]
Hello! Lee? Kenny? Anyone?
[He'd call out, awaiting for an answer back, to see hopefully someone familiar. Though there was a feeling in his gut that tells him he'd have an easier time finding a cure for whatever caused the dead to start walking.]
[Hangar]
[So far, the search for anyone else has been fruitless. Sure, it was hard finding people, good people at that, during the apocalypse. But he was with Lee and the rest trying to find Clementine! People don't just up and blip out of existence to end up God knows where! Right? And with how massive this city was, finding people felt like a fool's errand. Ben was walking around the unfamiliar city trying to familiarize himself to it, and definitely not taking a nervous glance over his shoulder every two or three seconds to make sure no walkers were going to pop out and chow down on him.
They say walking around to get fresh air is a good way to calm your nerves, but right now, Ben's nerves are shot through the roof. It doesn't help that the lay out of some land were covered in harden rock, as if large pools of lava cooled over it recently. Ben took a turn to continue walking in search of answers and-]
Ow! What the-?
[-walked face first into a forcefield. Maybe it's a good thing no one's around to see him get up close and personal with the dome. Hopefully. Ben'd rub his aching noggin and looked up, seeing the strange and reflective surface of the barrier staring right back at him. Transfixed by the bizarre sight, Ben slowly got up and approached, holding out his hand to try and touch it.]
What's going on here..?
[Network]
[Guess who finally decided to not be a nervous wreck and checked his pockets and found the device stuff in his coat? This guy!]
Hello? Please tell me I'm not all alone here.
Speaking of walking dead- I mean - Arrival.
[ The answer is given plainly. A simple fact stated by a tall man clad entirely in black as he walks by and towards one of the nearby buildings with purpose in his strides. Wesker has neither time nor patience to deal with any of the newcomers. There are more social beings around to handle that task. The earthquakes have left damage to plenty of buildings and the hospital where he has come to keep what he isn't carrying on his person since the ships have been gone has not been spared entirely. And that's where he is headed. Or headed back, much rather. His day has been busy. And that- Well. That may be the one advise Wesker is willing to give. Though it may be taken as an order as well. ]
Make yourself useful since you're here already.
Oh no.

Hangar
[Whether Ben had been expecting a response or not, he was getting one, even if the speaker wasn't readily visible.
Footsteps sound, although with something masking the area, it's source seemed disconcertingly invisible. And then finally a shadow stretched around the bend of the dome, and as though stepping out of some fold in the air, the hooded figure materialized.
His head was directed towards the curve of the forcefield, but finally the Hunter turned his attention towards the kid, and it was then that Ben would really get a good look at the metal features of his face.]
Weird, huh? Should be a building here but this thing's hiding it for some reason or another.

Regardless, hospitals have supplies. It'll be good to know what all they have in case he needs to stop by here. Though searching around the place gave him even more of the creeps than the dilapidated powerless hospital they all walked through. All the tubes around, it felt like he just stepped foot into a sci-fi horror film set. Boy wouldn't it be nice if this was all just one big movie and none of this was actually happening...
Ben nearly jumped out of his skin hearing shuffling and muttering up ahead. He could've just mind his business, kept his nose out of it, but he ended up walking right into the doorway to see another person. Another scavenger, maybe?

Beckett Mariner | Star trek: Lower Decks
1. 'Tis stormin'
[ Mariner has managed to get to the hotel, somewhat accidentally, as she booked it inside away from one of those storms that sure do look like the ones the data point showed taking some of the Agrii out.But her curiosity seems to be getting the better of her. She was missing her combadge, phaser, and a knife when she woke up on this planet. But, the powers that be oh so kindly left alone one of the T-88 diagnostic scanners she brought along in her pocket. She might be popping one of the hotel doors open just a crack to see if she can get a good scan of what's going on in that storm...
Until she suddenly perks up, obviously hearing something outside.]
Jennifer?
[ And there she goes, waltzing right back outside into danger, even though she should absolutely know better when it comes to pretty obvious energy hallucinations, or manipulations, whatever these baity little things are. ]
2. Yellow to pink to... Alien Target
[ Mariner can be found in any ol' place in the town center, or later, the Northeast side. She's just checking in on any building that seems interesting or like it might hold something she wants or needs. Like the big department store she eventually ends up in might!Mariner can be found poking around the store muttering to herself. ]
There's gotta be some in here somewhere... Don't they know that they have to give us either weapons or booze, they can't take both!
3. Network video
[ Now that she's sure she's not alone here, and her initial exploration is starting to wind down, why not make a video post? ]Heyyyy, fellow captives! I'm Mariner, and this isn't my first "kidnap randos to save a mysterious alien race in trouble" rodeo, since I'm reppin' Starfleet.
[ She gives her uniform top a little tug with her free hand to illustrate that. ]
But it IS my first time in one where, I guess, they expect us to rebuild the whole damn society and live here. Also my first time with seemingly magic brain altering computers that just teach you jobs, but uhh... I guess my real question is what's up with the hangar?
[ She turns her tablet around so it's almost over her shoulder as she gives the forcefield around the hangar a little tap tap with her knuckles. ]
Do they have ships in here or like is this where they keep all the stuff they pilfered from us?
2 Eeeek I love Beckett
He walks in and gives her a cheeky wave. "Richie Tozier. I take it you're new here?"
OMG perfect because Richie is the best of the Losers' Club!

What is Starfleet?
[Maybe she'll answer his question if he answers hers?]
From what I've gathered, there used to be ships there, but I don't know where they've gone. When I first arrived and was able to explore around it a bit, I found tools and workbenches, but nothing that I recognized as being taken from the current inhabitants. At least, I didn't see anything of mine in there.
[Not that he had a lot of stuff to call his own, but his point stands.]

Janet Van Dyne | Marvel Comics (616)
It was a little cold for the beach, but the caves offered a pleasant enough surprise. Jan settled into the inviting warmth, thinking it wasn't too different from a proper spa day. A girl had to find time to pamper herself, even in an apocalyptical wasteland.
Lifting her head at the sound of approaching footsteps, Jan smiled and welcomed- "Hope you brought the cucumber slices."

Angeal Hewley || Crisis Core FFVII
"This place must've seen better days."
The Deep End
He's not sure how he made it, but his wanderings somehow landed him in a bar. Angeal wasn't sure what to think of it, but he stepped inside and looked around. It seemed almost normal, as if the outside had nothing to do with it. Beer was available and the former First Class Soldier sat down with it. At the sign of someone approaching, he nodded once.
"Have a seat."
Network
Knowing how phones worked, this tiny hand held device was a delight to see, as it was almost nostalgic. Angeal pressed buttons here and there to see if it was like the one he'd used back home. But soon enough, he figured out how to post. And while it took a moment, he took a deep breath and gave it a shot.
"Zack? Can you read me?"

Griffin O'Callahan || D&D OC
One broad-shouldered, beefy tiefling, like the kind you might see in your tabletop RPGs, has found his way into the Deep End. Bars are, in his experience, good places to hear rumors, learn about the locals, and to people watch.
He’s making his way from the bar to an empty table with a pint in one hand and an absurdly large platter of poutine in the other. Even though he’s being careful, space in here is at a bit of a premium, and he’s a big guy, right around six feet tall - not counting the horns.
"Shoot, sorry, I didn’t mean to knock into you. Are you okay?"
His apology is sincere, his expression is earnest, and his eyes are bright red and completely lack anything resembling an iris or a pupil. He probably didn’t knock you over (he WAS being careful!), unless he did.
Network - [TEXT] UN: eldritchknight
So I guess I’m new here and also stuck here? Is there anyone else out there who’s heard of Flamecrest or New Orleans? I was kind of in the middle of something, so I’d like to get back as soon as I can.
Crimeny bro, if you’re out there and you can come find me that’d be awesome. :'D
The Deep End
He's a tiny guy, so he's mostly able to avoid getting bonked by this big dude.

Barry the Quokka | Sonic the Hedgehog
[Geez...
Ever since the murder mystery party on the Mirage Express, Barry thought that'd be the last time they'd get roped into some crazy adventure. One minute, they're minding their own business doing their own thing. The next, they're... here. Sitting right by a fountain, in a city that has seen better days. What could make this any stra-
Oh! Shiny orb that just screams "Touch me Barry, you know you want to"! And they really, really do...
... Although, floaty, sparkly orbs aren't always a good sign. What to do, what to do...?
-> Touch the floaty orb of KNOWLEDGE.
Leave the floaty orb of (potential) DANGER alone.
Caution to the wind it is!
Reaching their gloved hand out, Barry touched the orb... and fell right into the fountain they were setting on after receiving a rush of information rushing through their brain like electricity to a conductor. Give them a minute if you find them still sitting in the fountain, they're just trying to wrap their head around what just transpired.]
Microwaved Chili Dog: [Diner]
[When they saw that there were a diner here, they knew they had to go check it out. Stepping through the door, they were enamored by the faint scent of food in the air. The quokka couldn't help but look around, with a single thought on their mind:
"Wonder if they'll let me man the microwave... If they have one."
Hey, that was originally their job on the Mirage Express before they got "promoted" to detective sidekick. Plus if they're going to be here fixing up some city, they want to pull their weight somewhere. And between operating a microwave and beatboxing, something tells them that only one of those is really going to be useful during their time here.
Other than that, most would find them gazing around the place, mostly doing their own thing.]
Sunset Over Spagonia: [Beach]
[Sometimes you don't go to a beach to swim. Sometimes you just want to relax on the sand, staring out into the ocean. The odd coloration of the sand was a little uncanny, but not enough to turn them away. After all, it's purple! Maybe bluish? Where could you go wrong with those?
Barry made a spot for themself in the sand, kneeling down to watch the clear blue waves crash on the shore. They liked going to the beach before coming here. It was always a pleasant past time that helped them kill time and destress after a bad day. Not that today was really bad or anything, just a little crazy. But hey, what could be crazier than ending up in some city with little explanation apart from the floaty orb earlier giving said explanation?]

Max Mayfield | Stranger Things | OTA (still voice testing, just in case anything seems rough)
It will all be over soon, Vecna tells her, and Max's whole body tenses in fear, in her mind. Outside of it, she floats over the floor in the old Creel House.
That's when she's ripped away, from all of it, right before Vecna can start to break her, just as his hand goes over her head. His mind - the scattered house in red mist - disappears, the Creel House disappears and everything is gone.
She wakes up by the fountain, confused, not even sure if she's alive, and having a bunch of information downloaded into her mind doesn't help. Okay, she knows where she is, but she needs to know what happened to everyone. What about Lucas? She just left him there. How long has she been here? Where this is, what happened to this place, none of that matters in the face of what happened and worrying if Hawkins broke, if Vecna won. (But if she said she didn't feel compelled to help? That would be a lie. That desire is taking a backseat to everything else, though.)
Max wastes little time leaving the fountain and moving out to explore the city, trying to find people, or anything. She does call out, calling for El, calling for Lucas, but she's just met with disappointment.
It doesn't take long before she's outside of the abandoned city. It takes even less time for a storm to find her, because of course one would. The fact she didn't land right in one to start with is outstanding. She looks into it, swirling right in front of her. Rain so thick she can't see very far.
But she does see that all too familiar face that's been haunting her of late, in particular when Vecna can use him to his advantage. She's so sick of that. He stands there and that ghost looks right at her. Part of Max's mind questions this phantom, the rest of it wishes it really was Billy, that she actually joined him in death. Forever fighting with her own guilt and pain. The storm isn't much different from the emotions warring in her, anger and concern at the forefront.
"Billy," she mutters, and takes a step forward. Her eyes narrow. This can't be another one of Vecna's games, can it? Could he find her, even here?
Someone might want to step in here, as at least Max will listen to reason, because she doesn't want to actually do this; except some small part of her does.
Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka | Blood Vines
The flora stands out here, is even kind of fascinating. She can't help exploring the area, and it does help to know the terrain, right? It's good for awareness. Besides, if she explores the whole thing and nothing twists into a nightmare, she really doesn't have to worry about Vecna. At least, that's her train of thought. (She still is, until she has confirmation everyone from home is alright.)
She gives a vine she spots a respectful distance, but watches it, the white spines choking the host plant it's wrapped around. Max stares at it, her mind wondering to something else.
"You're just going to drain everything around you," she mutters to the plant, herself.
She finally stands up, and if she catches anyone watching her, she'll glare at them. But if they want to talk or smile, maybe she'll be willing to have a conversation about it. While avoiding the real point and what really made her pause.
Explore Temba!
Despite the curiosity and want to map things out in her mind, Max stops when she reaches one of the buildings. The area doesn't look solid, most of it destroyed from the earthquakes.
If she sees anyone with the intentions of heading inside, or close to the building, she calls out, "You're not going in there, are you?" with a note in her tone that suggests they're an idiot if they do. Max doesn't recommend it, and she's not going to follow someone else in there. (Except she might, if they get caught in something. She has no desire to, though.)
Wildcard; Want to help her figure out the network? Or throw a text at her first? That goes here. She'll figure it out, quickly, though. Open for anything else, especially exploration based.

"It's total fine in h-" He starts to report, before there's a loud crash and a string of curses, "Fucking Christ!"
