FALL TEST DRIVE MEME

FALL TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka
Temba seems almost peaceful, breathing out a sigh of relief after its near destruction. Just southeast of the city one finds signs of the damage in greater evidence. The recent lava flows have taken out large stretches of vegetation, replacing them with fresh volcanic rock left bare at the surface. In some places there's even residual heat given off, especially closer to the volcano that now rests as an unending reminder of what was nearly lost. Meanwhile in the city itself the plants that would normally provide a natural abundance outside of the domain of the greenhouse seem to offer scant pickings, perhaps a result of the intense heat of the summer.
Meanwhile in Sh'Ka fall proves to be a threat, though in a new way this year than in any before. The danger derives from the Blood Vines near the train station. Apparently ash-rich soil only feeds the vampiric plant, and its spines are larger than ever as its vines lie hidden under the mounds of ash, ready for any unsuspecting prey.
Explore
Despite having been protected from being destroyed by the volcano itself and unlike Sh'Ka not having been buried in vast amopunts of ash, Temba still suffered notable damage from the earthquakes that came with the volcano's eruption. Previously restored buildings were damaged and others entirely caved in on themselves leaving them beyond any hope for restoration. The streets and paths are even worse to traverse than they used to be but for what it's worth water and electricity are still working. Most of the time.
Needless to say, exploring is more risky these days as buildings may still cave in without warning and seemingly solid roads may crack open to drop anunsuspecting wanderer into underground caves left behind by the quakes.
And yet the city can still be explored. If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Now what's happening with the hangar?!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Max opens her mouth on the other side, to reply, then closes it as Robin keeps going, eyes widening and narrowing until finally, "One thing at a time."
A scoff, sort of laugh. "But it's me, if you think this is Max. Voice doppelganger - are those an actual thing? Because that sounds like something we would run into."
no subject
But she sounds happier now. Though, well, slightly fearful.
“There are people here from alternate dimensions that aren’t the Upside-Down. Just other timelines of Earth. So doppelgängers seem completely possible. But seriously, Max, what year is it? Month too. Please, it’s important and affects stuff.”
no subject
Then Robin asks when she's from and she's all serious.
"You're trying to find out because we're all from different times, aren't we?" Beat. "I think we should have this conversation in private. How can I find you?"
no subject
"I can meet you somewhere, yeah. The hotel. It's the largest building that isn't a tower, near the fountain where you came in. I am up on the third floor. We can talk in my room. Or, uh, maybe on a different floor. I live across from Steve and Eddie so if you want it really private we should meet elsewhere."
At least Billy moved. Which was bad. She just doesn't want Billy knowing if this is Max from AFTER Vecna. Max in a coma.
Scene switch?
"Let's meet in the lobby and grab a first floor room," Max suggests. If Billy still lived there? She would want to talk in an entirely different building. Because she doesn't want Billy to know at all.
She can imagine people will protest her returning to face that, but Billy? No, that's terrifying.
Totally
Robin doesn't mind heading down to wait for their zoomer. And she's already going out of her room and heading for the stairs.
Re: Totally
Speaking of, she kind of misses her skate board about now.
Max walks into the lobby after a bit and removes her headphones.
"We can just go to the second floor." She turns to look up and really take in the place.
"You have this place all to yourselves?"
no subject
"No. Lots of people use the hotel. A number of us from Hawkins specifically, and the two Hylians, and the lady, Lark. Come on, there's the fourth floor. I don't know if anyone is up there. We should be okay. Watch yourself, the steps are taller than you're used to."
no subject
Robin mentions the Hawkins group and Max stops and has to ask, "Billy?"
no subject
"Yeah. Billy. He... Time isn't the same for any of us. So far as I know, none of us are even from the same day, though Steve, Eddie and I are closest in time to each other, though Chrissy isn't far off. Which is why I'm asking you what day it is. That tells me just how much you know."
Because hey, Robin would love it if Max is from, like, 1987 and can tell them that it all ends okay and no one else died and Max herself got better and yeah, it all hurts but she's hopeful. Robin's gotten a little too used to briefings though. First Billy, then Chrissy, and hopefully not Max.
no subject
She sighs.
"I guess March 1986 doesn't tell you everything. Let's get up to the fourth floor."
no subject
"And March 1986 is more or less my concern. Except for Billy that fits all of us I suppose. From what I've put together he's from literally just before... Well, the very end of Starcourt."
Before his death. Probably not even minutes before it. Which was bad for him. Hard to live here knowing you're dead. Eddie seemed to handle it decently enough with Steve around, and Chrissy was just trying to live her best life.
no subject
"Guess we have something in common."
Max sighs. At least he's not in the hotel. Small blessing.
no subject
A tiny window of time, which was an important one. Before he said sorry though, and Robin doesn't know that fact.
"We probably have a lot in common."
She's racing up the steps as quick as she can without tripping. But there's this low key anxiety that's probably radiating off of her.
"Yeah, I guess we do. I'm hoping that you've got good news."
no subject
"I have a couple things in common with Billy."
She almost feels bad, because she can feel the stress rolling off Robin, but she can't say what the future holds for any of them.
no subject
Robin's trying to hold people together with both hands and lately it's not going the best. She wished there was still some rum left. Of course she used it all. Like a genius. But saving the world had mattered.
"Here," she says, her breath a bit strained when she reaches the landing for the fourth floor. Damn she hates these steps. "We'll just look for the first room without personal effects in them."
no subject
Right now, Max wants to get this conversation over.
She opens rooms, and at the first with no items, she waves Robin over.
"Here."
no subject
"Here," she agrees as she goes through the door and closes it behind them.
"Okay. Um... Last thing you remember?"
no subject
"El showed up all badass and kicked Vecna's ass for a bit." Breathe in. Breathe out.
"Then she lost." She tries to recount this as matter of factly as she can, but Max's voice cracks.
"Then Vecna had me and was seconds away from breaking me."
no subject
"We didn't know that," Robin says honestly as she leans against the wall. "About El. Not at the time. And I..."
She bites her lip.
"I'm sorry. I tripped. On the stairs. Going up to the attic. The vines grabbed us, all three of us. We were... They were choking us. I delayed us all. I'm the reason you had to hold on so long. The reason Eddie..."
Robin blames herself. It was her fault Max got so badly hurt. Her fault Eddie... Robin blamed herself and she didn't say that to Eddie because he would ignore her words anyway. But Max almost died, and Robin owed her an apology.
"I'm sorry, and I don't think I'm ever going to get how you look in your hospital bed out of my head."
cw: mentions of murder and breaking bones
Max shakes her head, voice going thick. Just like Chrissy told her, she tells Robin, "Don't. None of this is on you. It's not on you Vecna's an asshole. His choices, hunting people down, killing them, breaking every limb...that's not on anyone butthen, i'm just glad you're not dead. He showed me images of that.... Of hurting you. To weaken me."
She blinks, dread filling her. "What happened to Eddie?" Because if he doesn't make it out of this.... He needs to stay here. Will she ever see him again? And - "What about Dustin? Wasn't he with him?"
Hospital bed? "What? But I'm alive?" She doesn't sound too thrilled about this, but there's a small note of hope.
"Billy doesn't know about any of this, does he?"
no subject
"I'm still sorry," she says, her voice weak. If she hadn't fucked up then Max wouldn't have had to do it all alone. But now Max is hitting an important part and Robin winces.
"Steve and I are the only ones here who live," she says, her voice a whisper. "Or were. I think sometimes that Steve maybe thought that wasn't true before I showed up. But Eddie... Well, I guess he should be the one to tell you. But Dustin's okay, he hurt his hip. And Lucas's arm got broken. But the rest of us are... as okay as we can be."
Robin doesn't know if now is the time to explain that Max absolutely had to have died for a second, because of the gates. Is it right to put that on her?
"You're alive. And Billy doesn't know about what Vecna did you do. Steve and Eddie apparently made that choice before I showed up, and I don't think it's my place to explain that to him. Though I did tell him a lot more about what was going on in Hawkins. Tried to give him some answers, since neither of the boys thought it might help him to process his own pending death if he knew things. I told Chrissy what I could."
no subject
Max feels heavy hearing that. She's tired of death, and Eddie doesn't deserve that. Her eyes glass over as she slumps down to the floor.
She processes. Dustin is mostly okay.
Her face scrunches up. "What happened to Lucas? Why...? He should have been safe in the Creel House." But when are any of them safe. Something always goes wrong.
"So...Hawkins is safe? I'm not thrilled about being in a hospital bed," she would be less thrilled to know about the coma part, "but maybe it's worth it."
Max frowns.
"How did Billy take that? He doesn't like not knowing things."
no subject
So Max never got the music to get her out either. Which was maddening at the very best. Because there were so many things that meant they had failed Max, but no one had expected it to be Jason to fuck it up so badly for them.
"Hawkins is... not good. We tried. Apparently we failed. Vecna has to still be standing, and since you died for a few seconds, the gates tore open. Nothing crossed over, but Hawkins is sort of in ruins. They're playing it off as an earthquake, and of course Eddie is being blamed."
Which is such bullshit. Everything went wrong and she hates it so much. They tried so hard, and they hadn't had enough people to carry it all. Part of her wonders if she's the only one who blames herself, or if Steve does too. When Hopper 'died' and Joyce left, Steve was basically rendered defacto adult and there just hadn't been enough resources.
"Billy... didn't take it well. Knowing there was so much he didn't know. I couldn't tell him everything. It was so much at once. Chrissy wanted to know it all, know it immediately, but Billy's life was destroyed by it in so many different ways that it just overwhelmed him."
no subject
"Carver should have stayed out of it. What about Erica?"
And then she hears it was all for nothing. Hawkins was still ripped open. Max rubs her face with a hand as she processes that. Not good.
"How can they blame Eddie for an earthquake? I get how they can't handle what actually happened, but that's a little out there to blame Eddie. The only thing he's guilty of is being a loud nerd."
Max's chest tightens when she hears about Billy. Overwhelmed - sounds right.
"Can't blame him on that. It's a lot, and really out there. I didn't even believe Lucas when he first told me. I thought he was trying to mess with me."
