FALL TEST DRIVE MEME

FALL TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka
Temba seems almost peaceful, breathing out a sigh of relief after its near destruction. Just southeast of the city one finds signs of the damage in greater evidence. The recent lava flows have taken out large stretches of vegetation, replacing them with fresh volcanic rock left bare at the surface. In some places there's even residual heat given off, especially closer to the volcano that now rests as an unending reminder of what was nearly lost. Meanwhile in the city itself the plants that would normally provide a natural abundance outside of the domain of the greenhouse seem to offer scant pickings, perhaps a result of the intense heat of the summer.
Meanwhile in Sh'Ka fall proves to be a threat, though in a new way this year than in any before. The danger derives from the Blood Vines near the train station. Apparently ash-rich soil only feeds the vampiric plant, and its spines are larger than ever as its vines lie hidden under the mounds of ash, ready for any unsuspecting prey.
Explore
Despite having been protected from being destroyed by the volcano itself and unlike Sh'Ka not having been buried in vast amopunts of ash, Temba still suffered notable damage from the earthquakes that came with the volcano's eruption. Previously restored buildings were damaged and others entirely caved in on themselves leaving them beyond any hope for restoration. The streets and paths are even worse to traverse than they used to be but for what it's worth water and electricity are still working. Most of the time.
Needless to say, exploring is more risky these days as buildings may still cave in without warning and seemingly solid roads may crack open to drop anunsuspecting wanderer into underground caves left behind by the quakes.
And yet the city can still be explored. If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Now what's happening with the hangar?!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

"I guess common sense is not necesaary if you waste all your time playing sports," Max hisses. They had no place interfering like that. If she had only been conscious, not dealing with Vecna, maybe she could have done something. But there is no point worrying about that, and she knows it.
Max can only feel remotely hopeful because she has no idea she's in a coma, and Robin sounds strained, like all of this is taking a huge toll.
"Of course I'll get better," she says with a frustrated tone, insulted anyone thinks she might not.
"I'm alive. That's better than I thought I would get."
no subject
"It's more the religion thing," she says with a wave of her hand. She hadn't been raised with that so she didn't really get it beyond in an academic sense. "Guess he won't make that mistake again."
So many people were 'missing' now.
"I know you will. You're strong, Max. So when you do, and you're all healed up, we're going to finish the school year and make Steve take us all on a serious vacation, okay? You're going to get a lot more for you than just being alive."
no subject
"That explains the stupidity," Max mutters sarcastically. It does, but doesn't. It's not a good excuse for it, at least. She frowns, "What do you mean? Won't make that mistake again?" He sounds dead, and while she doesn't consider that a big loss, it's still another death. It still kind of sucks.
There's a brief flicker of a smile.
"Yeah. We should take a vacation. Somewhere far away from Hawkins." She hears waves in her ears when she says that, then sighs. She cares about her friends, wouldn't leave them, but misses the beach.
"But...you know, while we're here," her eyes flicker away thinking of Chrissy, Eddie, and most definitely Billy, "we should still make the most of it. While we can. Because Eddie, Chrissy, Billy...they can't go back." She'll never see them again after this.
no subject
IT was a miracle Lucas and Erica and Max had all gotten out of it. A fucking miracle. Enough to make Robin believe that something out there was looking out for them. Which apparently turned out to be El.
"Somewhere with sun and a beach? Can I argue for Oregon? I always wanted to go. The forests, the culture, the peacefulness? I don't know if the beaches there are of any quality though."
While they're here, they really needed to. Robin smiles and nods.
"That's sorta the goal. We're going to make the most of this. Steve's looking out for Eddie. I'm doing my best with Billy but he's stubborn. And I'm trying with Chrissy. More hands on deck couldn't hurt. I'm guessing you'd prefer Chrissy over Billy."
She'd probably be guessing wrong.
no subject
"Robin...has anyone heard from my mom?"
California might be too painful, so Max just agrees, "Sure. Oregon. As long as we go in summer."
Max grows more solemn as she listens.
"How about both? I like Chrissy," at least the bit she's spoken to her since arriving, "and there's no way I'm not helping with Billy. Not after he saved El, all of us, and died. Besides, I know him. He's stubborn, and he's not used to this. Being a part of anything. Someone trying to help. You're going to need all the help you can get. And I'm stubborn."
no subject
And there's little she can do to give more comfort than that. Other than... "You know, Dustin apparently got an offer from Eddie's uncle to go to their trailer for stuff, so it's likely there wasn't a ton of damage there. Pretty sure Family Video is gone though."
Which she shouldn't be surprised about because she's not allowed to have a job long term. There wasn't much she could do about that though. They should just look for other answers, after Vecna. Now she has nothing to do but try and offer some comfort.
"Oregon in the summer. Deal. Steve can drive. And Jonathan. Nancy. All of them. And... I would have thought maybe you didn't want as much to do with Billy. I've been doing what I can. He's... a lot more complex than I ever knew at school."
She's not about to explain why she found that out. She's not outing herself, or Steve and Eddie, and definitely not Billy.
"He is stubborn though."
no subject
"When we get back, and I'm out of the hospital, I'll help you look for another job," Max offers, eyes flickering down, then up to Robin's. "I'm going to be sixteen soon enough. And I'll be able to work and help my mom. Might as well get started on that, right?"
There's a laugh, a dark one. "Yeah. Steve won't let me drive anymore. So fine, he's going to have to do all of that."
She darkens when they cycle back to Billy. "Why did you think that I wouldn't want to? He's..." she looks down, sighs out, and shakes her head a little, "my brother. And yeah. Aren't most people?" Beat. "Besides. I'm one of the few people that can handle Billy."
Robin doesn't have to out anyone - Billy will do half of that later. Max might be able to figure out Billy on her own after that part. She's not going to out herself to any of them, though. Not any time soon.
"Exactly. Fight stubborn with stubborn. It works better. Sometimes." Not always. Not for everything.
no subject
The government owed them so much. Robin wasn't going to stop until Max and her mother, and all the other kids, are taken care of. Robin doesn't care about herself on it either.
"Between you and me? Steve's never let me drive, and it's really fair. So you've probably got a better chance than me."
Billy is a complicated man and that's why. Though Robin has to smile.
"I think I'm becoming one of those that can handle him. But we'll see. I've learned how to handle stubborn boys that are afraid of something in themselves."
no subject
Max gives a chuckle, something morbid that would be more amused if not for how much had changed since that day, but, "He won't let me drive because I already drove him. In Billy's car. I think it scared Steve."
As for Billy, it might take a whole army with him. "That's good. Because it's a lot," Max tells Robin. "And I'm still going to help."
no subject
"Oh, if he knew what I did to a few cars at school the one time I drove solo, he'd let you drive before me."
Five cars were damaged that night. Oops. She still felt a little ashamed, but not as much as she should have.
"I'd be glad for help. Peace is hard when Billy and Steve are stubborn."
no subject
Max laughs to that. At least Billy's car survived Max.
"Okay. So we're definitely not letting you drive."
Max's eyes roll up a little bit. "Yeah. Sounds like you need a lot of help. That's why," she nods, "we'll both take Billy. Both take Chrissy. We'll get through this." But who has Max? Probably poor Robin.
no subject
"And I'll watch out for you too, Max. Someone should be."
no subject
Max smiles for a split second then has to ask, "Soooo, who's looking out for you?"
no subject
Oh god she shakes her head.
"Steve when he has time. Chrissy seems intent on it too. She's suggested a girl's night. I don't even know what to do with those."
no subject
"We should have a girl's night! You listen to music, talk and play games." She smiles. "That's all it is. Just have fun and be. Get to know each other better."
no subject
She feels betrayed. She's imagined that SO MANY TIMES. What a let down.
no subject
"I don't have cute pjs." She smiles as she offers, "But pillow fights can happen!"
no subject
"Does it though? Like, happen?"
no subject
no subject
"Okay. We'll consider it another time. In the mean time, mind if I hug you?"
Just one more time. It would be nice.
no subject
"I don't mind," Max assures her, and this time, Max opens her arms first.
no subject
"Thanks," she says, offering her a big hug again. That helps.
"Alright. Now that that's done, come on, let's pick out an actual room for you somewhere here. I expect the boys will want you closer if they can get it."
Wrap, as discussed
"I think we should all stick together, anyway." Something else in relation to Billy to tackle, but later. For now, she's more than good with finding a room in the hotel and even welcomes Robin's help to get set up.
