FALL TEST DRIVE MEME

FALL TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka
Temba seems almost peaceful, breathing out a sigh of relief after its near destruction. Just southeast of the city one finds signs of the damage in greater evidence. The recent lava flows have taken out large stretches of vegetation, replacing them with fresh volcanic rock left bare at the surface. In some places there's even residual heat given off, especially closer to the volcano that now rests as an unending reminder of what was nearly lost. Meanwhile in the city itself the plants that would normally provide a natural abundance outside of the domain of the greenhouse seem to offer scant pickings, perhaps a result of the intense heat of the summer.
Meanwhile in Sh'Ka fall proves to be a threat, though in a new way this year than in any before. The danger derives from the Blood Vines near the train station. Apparently ash-rich soil only feeds the vampiric plant, and its spines are larger than ever as its vines lie hidden under the mounds of ash, ready for any unsuspecting prey.
Explore
Despite having been protected from being destroyed by the volcano itself and unlike Sh'Ka not having been buried in vast amopunts of ash, Temba still suffered notable damage from the earthquakes that came with the volcano's eruption. Previously restored buildings were damaged and others entirely caved in on themselves leaving them beyond any hope for restoration. The streets and paths are even worse to traverse than they used to be but for what it's worth water and electricity are still working. Most of the time.
Needless to say, exploring is more risky these days as buildings may still cave in without warning and seemingly solid roads may crack open to drop anunsuspecting wanderer into underground caves left behind by the quakes.
And yet the city can still be explored. If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Now what's happening with the hangar?!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Beckett Mariner | Star trek: Lower Decks
1. 'Tis stormin'
[ Mariner has managed to get to the hotel, somewhat accidentally, as she booked it inside away from one of those storms that sure do look like the ones the data point showed taking some of the Agrii out.But her curiosity seems to be getting the better of her. She was missing her combadge, phaser, and a knife when she woke up on this planet. But, the powers that be oh so kindly left alone one of the T-88 diagnostic scanners she brought along in her pocket. She might be popping one of the hotel doors open just a crack to see if she can get a good scan of what's going on in that storm...
Until she suddenly perks up, obviously hearing something outside.]
Jennifer?
[ And there she goes, waltzing right back outside into danger, even though she should absolutely know better when it comes to pretty obvious energy hallucinations, or manipulations, whatever these baity little things are. ]
2. Yellow to pink to... Alien Target
[ Mariner can be found in any ol' place in the town center, or later, the Northeast side. She's just checking in on any building that seems interesting or like it might hold something she wants or needs. Like the big department store she eventually ends up in might!Mariner can be found poking around the store muttering to herself. ]
There's gotta be some in here somewhere... Don't they know that they have to give us either weapons or booze, they can't take both!
3. Network video
[ Now that she's sure she's not alone here, and her initial exploration is starting to wind down, why not make a video post? ]Heyyyy, fellow captives! I'm Mariner, and this isn't my first "kidnap randos to save a mysterious alien race in trouble" rodeo, since I'm reppin' Starfleet.
[ She gives her uniform top a little tug with her free hand to illustrate that. ]
But it IS my first time in one where, I guess, they expect us to rebuild the whole damn society and live here. Also my first time with seemingly magic brain altering computers that just teach you jobs, but uhh... I guess my real question is what's up with the hangar?
[ She turns her tablet around so it's almost over her shoulder as she gives the forcefield around the hangar a little tap tap with her knuckles. ]
Do they have ships in here or like is this where they keep all the stuff they pilfered from us?
2 Eeeek I love Beckett
He walks in and gives her a cheeky wave. "Richie Tozier. I take it you're new here?"
OMG perfect because Richie is the best of the Losers' Club!
"Beckett Mariner, or just Mariner. But yeah, I'm starting to side with you there, Richie. I was willing to accept either, but as I come across more and more garbage, the need for alcohol grows stronger."
She nudges one of the cans away with her foot.
"Please tell me you could tell I'm new because only the newbies don't know where the stash of the good stuff is?"
<3
He swings his head toward the door to encourage Beckett to come with him out of this place with him.
"The bad news is it probably won't be anything you're used to. But I am partial to Red Fruit Juice for my inebriation needs. A great vintage or whatever the fuck."
no subject
He kind of reminds her of her BFF Boimler, in a way. But kind of cooler so far (Sorry Boims!)
"I am so not worried about what it actually is. The last thing I drank was Bloodwine, and I mean, it's great and all but that hangover... Well, you're human too, right? So you probably know."
no subject
"The problem with having adult money with a teenager maturity."
no subject
"Oh man, you have to try it sometime. Klingon drinks mess you up fast. Wait, what's Jungle Juice? it sounds like something I need to try." It's rare sometimes to find a new drink to get the rest of the lower decks wasted with.
She gives a little chuckle at that last comment though. "Since Starfleet doesn't use money, that hasn't come up for me yet."
Your journal name is so ironic now
Richie backs up, knowing this probably makes no sense.
"I am from like 2019, originally. We have people from the 1980's and earlier. All different worlds and universes and shit. We visited yours once! A long time ago tho. Place called Risa?"
Video
So are you saying you've, like, ACTUALLY been to space? Been on ships and met aliens for real? That is super cool! As for the hangar, apparently the ships have been gone for a while. Improvements I've heard. Something like that.
no subject
[ That's usually the only type that gets excited about space travel in her universe and time... Since it still hasn't sunk in for her that she's likely the only person from there who is now here. ]
Wait, hang on. Improvements by who? The guys who got mostly taken out by some lighting storms and spell everything like a dad joke from the dark ages? Or is there another player in this hostage situation?
no subject
[Okay, that is super cool. Like, insanely so. And here Robin had barely gotten to see aliens at all, only had been told about them, and someone had actually met them? That made her smile because how could she not? Someone who finally understood stuff!]
Science outpost planet? No, really not. I'm from Earth, uh, a place called Hawkins, Indiana. But if you're already ins pace and we have science outpost planets who knows if Hawkins even exists anymore!
And I think the improvements are by the aliens? The ones that brought us here. So yes? Those ones? Um, now that it's being said like that this sounds terrible.
no subject
[ Mariner isn't gonna get all weird about it now, but she is absolutely a Janeway fangirl. ]
Right? If they took the ships somewhere I guess we'll be lucky to even get them back. But then, if they existed here at some point I'm gonna guess we can't use them to get somewhere a little less... Dying? Or else why would anyone come back?
no subject
[Clearly someone famous. Famous people from Indiana? That's something. Better than the whole cursed stuff that happened back home.]
I really don't know. I've only been here a few months if I'm honest. And we didn't have all of this in the 80s.
no subject
[ Ok, now she's getting a little weird about it. ]
But she was the captain of Voyager, they got sent through a wormhole into the Delta Quadrant, which is like the extra middle of nowhere for space. It took them years to get back, and all this weird junk happened. They got turned into horny salamanders for a while, found Amelia Earhart and like the dinosaurs from Earth who all ended up in space, OH one time this evil virus cheese infected all the gel packs on the ship!
Hang on, it's the 80s right now isn't it? Pretty sure it was 2381 before I woke up here anyway.
no subject
[It's not that weird. Robin knows really weird people. They play D&D mostly. Does the future have D&D? What a question to think of. Not that she really cares that much. It's just nice to see someone who isn't a guy around.]
Wait. Found Amelia Earhart? Oh my god. She didn't die in the Bermuda Triangle? And didn't the dinosaurs die from a meteor?
[Hold on. Hold on. Robin's eyes go huge with shock.]
It was 1986 for me. You're from four hundred years into the future!?
no subject
Nope, not dead! They all went to space. And the holodeck is a room on a starship where you can program in different places and all kinds of dudes with--
[ RECORD SCRATCH. Hang on. 1986??? Well this is somehow a bigger blunder than going back in time and spilling small amounts of beans to the old timey Discovery crew. ]
Ohhhhhhh, you meant THOSE 80s. Well, fun fact, it's actually kind of against the rules in Starfleet, and in a properly flowing timeline, to tell people from the past anything about the future... Or that time travel is possible in honestly way too many ways. But uhhh... If you see anyone else from Starfleet, maybe just act surprised if they say anything.
no subject
Also, really? Why would she ever program a holodeck with all sorts of dudes when she could program it with literally anything else?]
Yeah, I can definitely act surprised. Don't worry. I'm really good at keeping secrets that are on levels so high that you know there's like fifty pounds of red tape wrapping them up.
Still, it would be wrong of you to give a girl a glimpse of something as cool as a future with a room you can program, whatever that means, and not finish the description!
Video
['Rebuild the whole society', makes him think of his world. He's always wondered how they were going to fix everything if the walkers were all gone. How to rebuild life after the end of the world.]
I don't know, I ran into the forcefield earlier. Head still kind of hurt from it... I-I imagine they would have like vehicles or weapons or something inside that we just can't get to right now. Not without shutting down the forcefield first.
no subject
[ Oh shoot, he doesn't know Starfleet either? So that was probably gibberish. ]
Starfleet's like a big organization that explores space and meets new aliens. All kinds of spacey stuff.
But yeah, that sounds absolutely plausible. I wonder if we can even figure out what's generating the forcefield. I don't know if you've noticed, but this planet kinda sucks so far, so getting into a ship would be a major upgrade.
no subject
Oh. Guess that's on me for not getting it the first time.
['Starfleet', 'mysterious alien race rodeo', uh-doh Ben!]
How can I not notice? This place looks like a complete trainwreck! I mean, it looks nicer than any of the cities back home like Macon, but this is a big mess. At least there hasn't been any walkers here, so that's a positive I guess.
[A sigh as Ben rubbed the temple of his head.]
Out of everything here that could be working just fine and dandy, it has to be the forcefield blocking a place where we can probably get a ship or supplies.
no subject
[ Plus she's been totally violating the Prime Directive and temporal Edict like all day, so she's going to end up exiled to the most miserable Starbase in existence if she ever gets out of here. ]
Yeah, I'm guessing the dudes that brought us here are the ones who put this thing up. I heard it only appeared lately. It still blows my mind they can't seem to spell anything but they can kidnap all of us and set up a forcefield like this.
Wait, walkers? Like the kind old people used to use or?
I'm so sorry for the wait on the response!
What, no? They're the walking dead. Where I'm from, the dead just started walking and going around eating and killing everyone. It's a complete horror show.
3 [Video] (I haven't watched Lower Decks but I plan to!)
What is Starfleet?
[Maybe she'll answer his question if he answers hers?]
From what I've gathered, there used to be ships there, but I don't know where they've gone. When I first arrived and was able to explore around it a bit, I found tools and workbenches, but nothing that I recognized as being taken from the current inhabitants. At least, I didn't see anything of mine in there.
[Not that he had a lot of stuff to call his own, but his point stands.]
