FALL TEST DRIVE MEME

FALL TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka
Temba seems almost peaceful, breathing out a sigh of relief after its near destruction. Just southeast of the city one finds signs of the damage in greater evidence. The recent lava flows have taken out large stretches of vegetation, replacing them with fresh volcanic rock left bare at the surface. In some places there's even residual heat given off, especially closer to the volcano that now rests as an unending reminder of what was nearly lost. Meanwhile in the city itself the plants that would normally provide a natural abundance outside of the domain of the greenhouse seem to offer scant pickings, perhaps a result of the intense heat of the summer.
Meanwhile in Sh'Ka fall proves to be a threat, though in a new way this year than in any before. The danger derives from the Blood Vines near the train station. Apparently ash-rich soil only feeds the vampiric plant, and its spines are larger than ever as its vines lie hidden under the mounds of ash, ready for any unsuspecting prey.
Explore
Despite having been protected from being destroyed by the volcano itself and unlike Sh'Ka not having been buried in vast amopunts of ash, Temba still suffered notable damage from the earthquakes that came with the volcano's eruption. Previously restored buildings were damaged and others entirely caved in on themselves leaving them beyond any hope for restoration. The streets and paths are even worse to traverse than they used to be but for what it's worth water and electricity are still working. Most of the time.
Needless to say, exploring is more risky these days as buildings may still cave in without warning and seemingly solid roads may crack open to drop anunsuspecting wanderer into underground caves left behind by the quakes.
And yet the city can still be explored. If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Now what's happening with the hangar?!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

"Yeah. My friend Billy, he got killed by the 'Mindflayer' thing. He told me. I helped kill one of them for him," he says with a shrug, like it means nothing. "I should probably check in on his stubborn ass after this. You save a guy from a demomonster whatever and of course he still got hurt."
Tommy sounds frustrated, concerned, worried. Like he genuinely cares about Billy. Which of course Tommy does.
"Oh cool, you know a telekinetic. We know a lot of those back home. Pretty common thing. Me, I go fast. Outrun sound fast. And make things explode of course."
Help save this place so people can get back to Hawkins. Tommy tries not to wince. He knows a number of those Hawkins people don't get to go home.
no subject
"Billy Hargrove." Breathe. Max's eyes blink, quickly as she tries not to cry in front of a mostly stranger. "You're talking about Billy Hargrove."
She almost can't even be excited about his superhero status.
"Go fast. Like The Flash?" Sorry, DC girl here.
no subject
"You're her. The one who had the Walkman that I fixed, and the tape he protects."
Billy treasures that Kate Bush loop like it's something sacred, and man, Tommy doesn't know all of why, but he's heard enough. That Billy did his best to keep his father's attention off of. The one that had been a source of conflict for Steve and Billy not long after Billy got here. Which of course Billy wouldn't want Tommy saying.
"Yeah, I'm talking about Billy Hargrove. And I can't really say more about him than that, because, I mean, you know him. He's a private guy. He'd hate if I gave you more than he wanted to tell you himself. But I don't doubt he'll want to see you."
Damn. He can't linger here. The question is does he risk the storm to start them walking back toward town? He feels like he should.
"Flash? That's a horrible name for a superhero. No. I'm fast like Quicksilver, or Northstar. Though Northstar cheats because he flies. That's just evading all the difficulty. And I think the city's that way. We should get moving. They're going to want to see you. All of them probably. I'd be an asshole if I didn't get you back to where they could see you."
Because while it will upset some Hawkins people that she's here, they probably really care about her, just like Billy does.
no subject
She looks away, "Not sure about that," she mutters. She wouldn't blame Billy if he didn't want to see her.
Max rolls her eyes.
"North Star is a horrible name. What does that have to do with being a fast flyer?"
She nods her head. "Yeah. We could get out of this storm, but I thought you were waiting for it to pass?"
no subject
"Trust me, I'm sure about that, Max. But you can take the time you need on that."
Because fuck, Tommy doesn't force anyone into any shit if he can avoid it.
"He is Canadian. So that's probably why. And he couldn't be Quicksilver because that's my uncle and he had it first." Which in Tommy's book is a pretty simple explanation. Though he knew the other reasons of course. He was a nerd for Speedster lore.
"I was, but people here are going to care that you're around. So maybe we should get you somewhere safe sooner. Get some food in you."
no subject
Find out what they've told him, what he knows, tell them one at a time, then approach him when she's ready. If she can ever be ready for that.
"You're not arguing. Are you trying to say Canadians come up with crappy super hero names? I can probably agree with that."
She shakes her head.
"I'm not really hungry. I left some people in a really bad situation."
no subject
Actually, he should take her right to the hotel.
"No, most super hero names suck. Mutants just get a bit weird about them," he says with a shrug. "Though he DID have a teammate known as 'puck', i think because he bounced around like a hockey puck. Soooooo."
So yeah, he's judging.
"Still need strength, so when you do get hungry, the diner is open to you. It's open to everyone. I try and keep people fed."
He pats the harvest basket at his side as if to illustrate that.
no subject
"Mutants?" She's definitely heard that term thrown around before, and not just in reference to mutations in every day conversation. "Sounds like something Dustin would talk about." Her face scrunched up to that.
"Soooo Canadians pick stupid superhero names. We agree on that." Max smiles at finding some common ground.
"Got it. Find you for food."
no subject
But it would be something Dustin would not say at all. The guy was quiet about what he was, the way he was different from people.
"I mean, plenty of people pick shit superhero names. Like, no joke, there's one that goes by Jubilee. Though that's a take on her name so it makes sense."
He picks up the basket and looks out into the rain. Okay. Time to go.
"You brave enough to face the rain?"
no subject
"From my world. You'll know him when you meet him."
She tilts her head a little. "So superhero names are kind of dumb. What's yours?"
After everything, Max looks out into the rain, and shrugs. "This is nothing. Let's go." She takes a step back out.
no subject
"I'm Speed."
And he's grinning because fuck it, he's proud of his name. Of who he is. He's fast and he changes the world with it. "At least I don't have a legacy name. Those are frustrating. They get confusing."
But with her agreement he puts the basket on his hip and starts walking.
no subject
"He's not omnious. Just tells really dorky jokes and likes to talk. A lot."
Max rolls her eyes; it's obvious Tommy's proud of it, and he's earned that, but she has no idea.
"You have yet to prove me wrong about super hero names." They need a skate board, and a rope.
no subject
Or like Tommy. Clearly. Who is currently walking while dragging a foot to scuff the ground and try to give him some directional reference.
"Ouch. Everyone's a damn critic. At least I'm more interesting than 'Iron Man' when I'm pretty sure Stark doesn't have iron in his suit."
no subject
"You also have a brother named Billy. Sounds nothing like mine." She can afford to say that, since he's alive here. A beat, an actual smile. "Good guess. I'm guessing you're the cool one, too."
She can't help the huffed laughter, quick, but there.
"There's really someone named Iron Man? Yeah, you beat that."
no subject
“Yeah, there really is. He’s got a metal suit that shoots lasers and flies. So, you know, sorta cool. But not really a great name.”
no subject
Her face scrunches up to that. "Sounds like that would get stuffy and hot." Not very comfortable.
no subject
"I don't know. Never thought about it."
no subject
"Well, now you have something to figure out."
Beat. "Along with a better super hero name." Shit-eating grin.
They leave the rain behind them, and Max asks, "Does your diner have hot chocolate?"
no subject
"My name is perfect. It tells people exactly who I am and what I do," he says with a laugh as they start to enter the city. From here it's easier.
"I really wish I did. Trust me I wish I did. But using replicator rations for things like that means not getting stuff like flour, or sugar, or salt. And I've got to put things for actually cooking first."
no subject
"Shame. It's all I wanted. You offered me food, but what do you even have?"
no subject
Oh man, there are so many things to offer. He smiles as he gets them moving across town.
"Lots of native foods. But most importantly? Pizza."
no subject
"You have pizza, but no hot chocolate? Need to work on that, Speed." She honestly gets the situation, and might go for a slice when she isn't cold and worried, but really.
no subject
Of course he has pizza. What sort of question is that?
"Tommy Shepherd, if you can't respect Speed. And yes. That just needs flour and water and salt for the dough, among some other things we get here. And then sauce and toppings. No chocolate here though."
no subject
The rest though, makes her feel like she should let up, just a little. She puts up a hand, "Okay, Tommy."
She takes a beat then lets herself be honest with him as she asks, "Do you have anything hot that isn't solid food or boiling water? I'm kind of cold." And she's not into tea.
no subject
"We always have a soup or stew on. Could scoop out the broth for you. Or tea. And, just because you're family to a friend, well, you can have ONE cup of my limited coffee supplies."
