If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka

Fall is a season that, in temperate climates like that of Temba and Sh'Ka leads to great changes in the land. Of course in both cities that change is often peeking out amid the occasional dustings or drifts of volcanic ash, but with each of the light fall rains, it's almost as if the memories of the eruption that ended the summer are being washed away. Each city, though, has its own new challenges to face.

Temba seems almost peaceful, breathing out a sigh of relief after its near destruction. Just southeast of the city one finds signs of the damage in greater evidence. The recent lava flows have taken out large stretches of vegetation, replacing them with fresh volcanic rock left bare at the surface. In some places there's even residual heat given off, especially closer to the volcano that now rests as an unending reminder of what was nearly lost. Meanwhile in the city itself the plants that would normally provide a natural abundance outside of the domain of the greenhouse seem to offer scant pickings, perhaps a result of the intense heat of the summer.

Meanwhile in Sh'Ka fall proves to be a threat, though in a new way this year than in any before. The danger derives from the Blood Vines near the train station. Apparently ash-rich soil only feeds the vampiric plant, and its spines are larger than ever as its vines lie hidden under the mounds of ash, ready for any unsuspecting prey.

Explore ~~the city~~ Temba!

Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Despite having been protected from being destroyed by the volcano itself and unlike Sh'Ka not having been buried in vast amopunts of ash, Temba still suffered notable damage from the earthquakes that came with the volcano's eruption. Previously restored buildings were damaged and others entirely caved in on themselves leaving them beyond any hope for restoration. The streets and paths are even worse to traverse than they used to be but for what it's worth water and electricity are still working. Most of the time.

Needless to say, exploring is more risky these days as buildings may still cave in without warning and seemingly solid roads may crack open to drop anunsuspecting wanderer into underground caves left behind by the quakes.

And yet the city can still be explored. If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Now what's happening with the hangar?!

A while ago, the ships vanished from the hangar and as of now no one can say why exactly that happened. Now your character may snotice that the map still indicates a hangar, but going there has them walk straight into- A force field? And a massive one at that. It's notably larger than the hangar building used to be and by no means translucent. Instead, your character will see a reflection of the city around. Or much rather the rubble and empty area around the location. What's going on here? Do you investigate the strange case of the missing space ships and now also missing hangar?

Try the network!

The network is back up! Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...

These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

Super short version, I’m from a different part of our multiverses neighborhood. Name’s Tommy Shepherd, or Speed. I go fast. Young Avenger and often freelancer superhero, specializing in rescues and crowd control.

[He’s got this whole arrogant smirk and flat out pleasure with himself over that announcement. Like he knows he’s cool, and you can respect that.]

And you’re on Agra-10, in the city of Temba, and we’re trying to fix that part but it’s not exactly easy to do.

[ Okay, not 616. He can handle that information. He assumes that's the one Tommy's from, the one that he can identify his Cap from. The fact that he's a Young Avenger makes him a little more trustworthy.

[Not like Tommy’s not used to dealing with first multiverses interactions. The amount of people who had learned from Tommy that the multiverse was a thing was surprisingly high. The fact that people kept letting him explain that was also a surprised, because surely there were people who would be better at it than he would.]

Oh, so you’ve met Pietro in your timeline then? Awesome. Less need to explain mutants and all that. Please tell me he hasn’t spoiled you for speedsters.

Well, whatever. Welcome to here. Fair heads up, if you see a guy with long, messy hair and a metal arm, don’t freak out at him. Guy’s pretty shy and may or may not be ready to process you being here. Just give him space and if he feels comfortable, he’ll find you.

[Tommy’s developed more than enough reasons over the years to actually care about looking out for Winter Soldier, and more of them recently. Guy was too good to him and Billy to not deserve Tommy trying to tell Steve to chill.]

[ Uncle Pietro, which means - wow. That means he's from the future, or, a possible future, where Wanda has children. Two, because he's got a twin. Billy, they'd said. He does magic. It clicks into place.

But in their world, Pietro hadn't died. It seems he'd gotten married, moved away elsewhere, far from Earth maybe.

That strikes him in the heart a lot harder than it should, to know there's a universe out there Pietro might be alive and happy, where Wanda never lost him. A universe where Wanda has adult sons, who are out here taking care of a whole city. She'd be proud of them.

But then. A mother of bombs to be dropped. ]

Wait, Bucky's here? Does he know who he is?

[ Sorry Tommy, when it comes to Bucky Steve has precisely negative chill. ]

[Alive, yes. Happy? Man, who knew if Pietro ever managed to be happy. Probably less so than he might have been seeing as he had only limited visitation rights with Luna. But that’s a whole other matter altogether.

As for Wanda and pride in her children… Well, that depends on which child you ask. Tommy? His relationship was a bit more complicated. Honestly, the best parent he’d ever had was actually a Vision that Steve Rogers would know very, very well.]

Dude, take your chill pill. You’ve got a yes and no thing here. He knows he was Bucky Barnes, but that doesn’t mean he’s exactly come to terms with all the baggage of the other shit. And I’ve got mad respect for Scruffy, so I’m going to stress the be chill. Seriously, pretend you’re some famous chill movie star or something and channel that energy into drinking your respecting Winter Soldier’s right to set his own boundaries juice.

[ Last time they saw each other, he'd left Bucky in Wakanda so he could be unconditioned from HYDRA. He'll be pretty upset if Bucky was taken from before that could be completed, but maybe he could help somehow, do the rest of the work that was started. But he'd need Bucky's help for that. Which means he'd need to actually talk to Bucky for that. ]

Did anything happen to him here?

[ Incidents, he means. But if Bucky's here and Tony's here too, then. Steve pinches the bridge of his nose because that's not a headache he wants to deal with, and he'll be relieved to find out that Tony's not upset with either of them. Not over the thing he thinks he's upset about, anyway. ]

Where is he? Look, if he doesn't want to talk, I'll leave him alone. But I've gotta ask.

We’ve all been through a lot of shit. Some of it good, some of it bad. Some of it involving explosions. But other bad shit happened to him specifically thanks to Beck. It’s over now. Don’t worry about it.

[Of course he is, he could find the guy in minutes if he was in Temba, but he might well be in Sh’Ka and nope, Tommy isn’t getting on the train just in case the guy is there.] No, wrong twin. Billy’s the one that’s more likely to be in his pocket. But he’s got a communication device like the rest of us. Text him. If he wants to talk, he’ll probably find you.

[ He just figured since Bucky and Tommy appear to be friends now that maybe he'd know where he usually hangs out. Also, he has no idea who this Beck guy is but Beck is officially on his shitlist as of that announcement.

[ Because someone needs to. And, well, honestly he's just glad Bucky has friends. ]

Everyone is listed by their name, yeah. And since we don’t have any instances of doubles or triples right now, you’ll find him easily enough on there.

[Why yes, he’s lived here while there were two Bucky Barnes around, as well as more Caps than he could shake a stick at. It’s been interesting. The good news on the other hand, though, is that Beck is long since gone. And everyone would react well before Steve would be able to if Beck came back, Tommy especially. He had not been amused at the Beck trying to kill Tony. Twice. Though the one that would deal with him first would be Jon, and no one should get between Jon and his enemies.]

At the moment, I’m repaying the man a favor for the fact that he’s looking out for Billy. And if you know how Maximoff twins work, you know that we get protective of the people who protect our other half.

Also, you any good at cooking?

Not really. Well, I like to think I am but everyone says I cook like I still live in the Depression. But that doesn't seem like it'd be a problem here.

If anything, I can make a little go a long way.

Why, you need help at the diner? I got told you run it.

[ That's not really something Steve thinks is the best use of his time when he could be rebuilding, but it's not his call to make. He hasn't been around the situation long enough.

As for all the rest? Well, that he'll have to find out piece by piece. ]

Trust me, I've been making soups and stews go a long way for a long time before Radley showed up to improve the dining experience. I mostly ask because while I've never requested people pay for what we cook up, I know some of us need more calories to keep properly fit, so I usually ask them to help out in some way. Dishes or harvesting or cooking.

And if cooking isn't your skill, that's totally fair.

[Tommy had never wanted to inherit a Diner, but he kept it going and did his best to keep people fed. Would have been doing better heading into the fall too if they hadn't had that volcano and had been forced to take just about every bit of preserved food down into the Warrens. Now he was scrambling to catch up in hopes the winter wouldn't be so lean that he'd basically be living on Depression era rations for himself to make sure everyone else got enough.]

[ That's fair, and Steve does eat enough for eight, if there's food in abundance. He'll just eat less if need be - it's not like he'll die. When the hunger becomes a distraction, then they can worry. ]

I could harvest. I could probably hunt, if that's something we do.

[ But he doesn't know which of the creatures out there are edible, so he'd need a second person. ]

I'd need a weapon. Left my shield at home.

[ He's not gonna explain that, either. ]

[Welcome to the food needs team. Tommy has been working his ass off for four years to make sure he could be vaguely fed and still not starve anyone else. He's not going to stop now. He'll make sure even a cap sized appetite is addressed, somehow. Helps that he has more hands at the greenhouse now, including Sonic. Two speedsters harvest faster than one.]

Harvesting helps if you take agricultural, but since you're less squeamish than some people, hunting would help the most. If you're into fishing find Noctis, if it's just hunting, you'll want Gladio or Link to be your guide. As for a weapon, near the Security datapoint there is a place with some alien guns that you'd be able to use if you took the datapoint. Don't shoot them without it, that goes poorly.

Or, you know, you could talk to Tony. We don't have vibranium but I'm sure if we talked to the Agrii to ask for a suitable metal, he could whip up a temporary shield for you. He's got to know the balance of that thing by now.

[ Except Tony was the one who told him that he doesn't deserve the shield in the first place, so he can't exactly ask him to make a new one. So, he's not gonna say that, and also, he still doesn't know it's not his Tony. ]

Guess I'll go look for the security datapoint. What do Gladio and Link look like?

[ He's not squeamish at all and if there's such a thing as winter here, then they might need to collect hide as well for when it's cold. He doesn't know how to tan anything, but surely someone does. ]

Seriously? Guns over shields? That's a weird choice. You're going to make Tony pout, Cap. You and your Tony on the outs in your world?

[It's not all that uncommon for them back home, so it's probably not shocking.]

Gladio's big and with enough muscles to almost make you jealous. And tattoos and scars. Link is small, blonde, and he will likely be running away from you. Or anyone. Doing weird things. That's just who he is.

Yeah, we fought over some legislation and then some personal stuff. Haven't talked in awhile; don't think I should be going asking him for favors first thing.

I'm hoping that doesn't mean you guys had something like the Registration act. Lots of bad shit happened around that back home too. Sorry you guys had to deal with it. But if it helps, Tony Stark here is definitely from a world closer to mine I think. I think he's the same as me and Billy, he's slightly less sure. But he recognized us first thing.

[Because that was something you got to learn how to balance here. How to deal with people that were kinda sorta yours but also not. Like, neither of their Peter Parkers were the one Tommy knew. Go figure.]

Maybe you can borrow Gladio's. Bigger than your shield though.

There's a lot going through his mind right now, and it's probably just showing all over his face as he tries to school his features. He's grateful to get to talk about something else. ]

Well, if we're both gonna hunt, maybe I should get a weapon outside of that, so we can take a trip together.

What kind of storage space is back there?

[ Meaning, how much meat are they expected to bring back at any given time? ]

[Well, the Bucky wasn't of Tommy's world, so hey, higher chance of it maybe? Probably for the best. Imagine how Steve would react to meeting a Bucky who had started working with Steve when he was basically a kid, rather than someone he had grown up with.]

We'll be able to store whatever is needed. I process a lot down into jerky, which is perfectly fine to work into soups and other things in the winter. Sometimes I borrow my brother to flash freeze things. And we've got other means. Hell, Gladio brought in multiple bantha one time. So I'm not worried about volume, not for now.

Great. Then I'll make sure to bring in as much haul as I can.

[ Well, enough that it's sustainable to grow them anyway, he has no idea how it might change their feeding patterns. He doesn't even know how the animals survive around here. ]

...You know, if you ever found yourself on my world, I think our Wanda would really like to meet you.

[Tommy scoffs at that. He knows better than to believe it.]

Maybe. But Wanda and Vision aren't always interested about the idea of kids. We had a pair of them here once. The Vision, he... He cared. He painted Billy and me birthday pictures actually. His Wanda didn't care as much.

[She hadn't been ready, or perhaps even interested, in the idea of children. Billy and him had called her their aunt, and she had about broken down even to learn about the fact. But that Vision had been so happy to have them. To have family. And Tommy had loved the guy. And it didn't even matter.]

Maybe she wasn't ready.

[ He says that immediately, because when they'd met, he doesn't think Wanda would've liked the idea. He thought of Wanda as just a kid herself.

But now? Now that she's in a relationship with Vision and her biggest worry is whether or not they'll make it work.... He really thinks that she will. ]

But I guess that's not worth speculating about.

How long have Wanda and Pietro been on the team, for you?

[He's not touching speculation because it hurts whenever Wanda or Vision lets him down. So he intends to just take the other thread and run with it.]

About as long as our version of Captain America. They, along with Clint and said Steve were the second Avengers team, after Pym and Van Dyne and Banner and Thor and Stark retired. Not that anyone seems to leave long. We've got a saying back home. 'Once an Avenger, always an Avenger'.

Hell, people have been on the team again even after all the conflicts.
