FALL TEST DRIVE MEME

FALL TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka
Temba seems almost peaceful, breathing out a sigh of relief after its near destruction. Just southeast of the city one finds signs of the damage in greater evidence. The recent lava flows have taken out large stretches of vegetation, replacing them with fresh volcanic rock left bare at the surface. In some places there's even residual heat given off, especially closer to the volcano that now rests as an unending reminder of what was nearly lost. Meanwhile in the city itself the plants that would normally provide a natural abundance outside of the domain of the greenhouse seem to offer scant pickings, perhaps a result of the intense heat of the summer.
Meanwhile in Sh'Ka fall proves to be a threat, though in a new way this year than in any before. The danger derives from the Blood Vines near the train station. Apparently ash-rich soil only feeds the vampiric plant, and its spines are larger than ever as its vines lie hidden under the mounds of ash, ready for any unsuspecting prey.
Explore
Despite having been protected from being destroyed by the volcano itself and unlike Sh'Ka not having been buried in vast amopunts of ash, Temba still suffered notable damage from the earthquakes that came with the volcano's eruption. Previously restored buildings were damaged and others entirely caved in on themselves leaving them beyond any hope for restoration. The streets and paths are even worse to traverse than they used to be but for what it's worth water and electricity are still working. Most of the time.
Needless to say, exploring is more risky these days as buildings may still cave in without warning and seemingly solid roads may crack open to drop anunsuspecting wanderer into underground caves left behind by the quakes.
And yet the city can still be explored. If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Now what's happening with the hangar?!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Cayde sweeps his hands out, gesturing for Griffin to sit so he won't have to stand there with his hands full.
"Want anything else? I still got some spicy ramen packs. Nothin' fancy and it's unfortunately not melt-your-face off hot but they're pretty good."
no subject
He starts a bit when Cayde indicates he should sit, and then grins a little ruefully. He takes the invitation, settling his pint and his platter on the nearest table, and pulling out the chair furthest from potential foot traffic. It takes a few moments to wrangle his tail and the chair so that he can sit comfortably, but he gets that sorted out without too much fuss.
And then Cayde says the magic words. Griffin perks up visibly at the offer. "I would love some spicy ramen!"
no subject
Ramen by far is a much easier contemplation, and at Griffin's agreement, the Exo grins, giving him double finger-guns before he spins around and walks back to the bar area. "You got it!"
He's no gourmet cook and while the bar's got a much simpler kitchen setup than the diner, it serves enough for the snacks and boiled water. A pot's all set and heating up in no time, and Cayde's poking through the fun assortment of bowls he's been amassing before setting one on the counter in preparation.
"So, you're taking all this rather well. I'm only assuming you haven't been here too long, of course- hard not to note a new face around a place like this."
no subject
So not exactly like any other Tuesday, when it gets right down to it. "But, I mean, the people I've met so far are friendly and the food's good, so it's not a complete problem, you know?"
no subject
Cayde holds up the utensils in each hand. "I know the situation's not ideal, particularly the being brought here without being asked first and not having a way to get back, but the problem and the poor displaced aliens are real. But hey! Traveling between realms? That sounds fun. I loved hopping around different planets an' stuff before I got saddled with a glorified desk job but hey." He shrugs. "So what all kind of work you do?"
no subject
Griffin is just a naturally optimistic man! That might have something to do with his dumped INT and WIS, but who can say for sure?
"I work for a private investigator. I'm his secretary, and I guess bodyguard? He's strong enough to take care of himself, really, but I like to think I've been helpful to have around for some of the stuff we've gotten into. The last big thing we did was take down a guy who was trying to become a lich using other people's souls. He turned into a zombie dragon at one point, and I guess he thought I looked like a snack because he tried to eat me? But I punched him in the snoot and held his jaws shut when he tried to use his breath attack on my coworkers."
Side Note: This man is no mere snack - he's a full 7-course meal. That zombie dragon's eyes were bigger than its stomach.
He pauses for a thoughtful sip of beer. "...You know, now that I think about it, I'm still not sure how that fight ended, because he did knock me out. No one else was badly hurt, though! Well, except for Shane, but Shane always seems to get wrecked whenever we fight something really big and powerful."
Anyone else talking about Shane constantly getting his shit kicked in might sound disparaging, but Griffin just sounds concerned. He's always concerned about Shane. Shane is a big concern.
no subject
"Secretary-bodyguard to a private investigator, heh! That sounds interesting." He chuckles in amusement as he envisions Griffin latched around an undead dragon. "-how big was this thing?"
He rips open a ramen pack and adds it into the water along with the flavorings. Can't forget the spicy part!
"Who's Shane?"
no subject
Griffin frowns slightly at the memory. Yanking the creature's massive jaws shut on himself to prevent its breath attack from hitting his buds was certainly one of the more self-sacrificing things he'd ever done, and definitely one of the most painful. But he had literally just watched Shane die mere seconds before - killed by the aspiring lich for mouthing off. Witnessing that had honestly sucked harder than the pain of being dragon breath'd.
"Shane's one of my coworkers. He's a warlock - he's really good at magic and talking, and literally nothing else." Once again, if any of his other coworkers had described Shane in such a way, it would have been disparaging. But when Griffin says it, he just sounds concerned.
no subject
"Oh, I know a few of those. Warlocks who're good at magic and talking that is. Well, maybe not strictly just those two things like you say this Shane person is, but most Warlocks back home seem to like to talk at length and I mean, if they aren't good at slinging space magic then they wouldn't be proper Warlocks."
A metal brow does lift at that particular tone, twice now, as Griffin speaks of Shane. He gives the ramen a moment to rest before he transfers everything into the bowl to bring over to the tiefling's table.
no subject
...That's a little meta, whoops. Moving on!
"Wait, space magic? I that different from magic magic?" ALSO: "Oh yeah, you said you'd been to other planets? What was that like?" Turning this Q&A back on you Cayde. Griffin may be old hat at traveling between realms, but he's never been to SPACE. That sounds like something truly magical.
no subject
Cayde shrugs, dragging out a chair from the next table- the one he'd just pushed back in earlier, actually- before dropping into it with just the slightest creak.
"There's void, solar, and arc," he counts off on his fingers. "It's not specifically a Warlock thing, all Guardians have access to it. Me, I run solar as my preference."
He smiles wistfully then, tipping his head back as though he could see beyond the ceiling and clear out to space itself.
"Oh yeah. Been all over the Sol System. Venus, Mars, Europa, that horse planet Nessus..."
