FALL TEST DRIVE MEME

FALL TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka
Temba seems almost peaceful, breathing out a sigh of relief after its near destruction. Just southeast of the city one finds signs of the damage in greater evidence. The recent lava flows have taken out large stretches of vegetation, replacing them with fresh volcanic rock left bare at the surface. In some places there's even residual heat given off, especially closer to the volcano that now rests as an unending reminder of what was nearly lost. Meanwhile in the city itself the plants that would normally provide a natural abundance outside of the domain of the greenhouse seem to offer scant pickings, perhaps a result of the intense heat of the summer.
Meanwhile in Sh'Ka fall proves to be a threat, though in a new way this year than in any before. The danger derives from the Blood Vines near the train station. Apparently ash-rich soil only feeds the vampiric plant, and its spines are larger than ever as its vines lie hidden under the mounds of ash, ready for any unsuspecting prey.
Explore
Despite having been protected from being destroyed by the volcano itself and unlike Sh'Ka not having been buried in vast amopunts of ash, Temba still suffered notable damage from the earthquakes that came with the volcano's eruption. Previously restored buildings were damaged and others entirely caved in on themselves leaving them beyond any hope for restoration. The streets and paths are even worse to traverse than they used to be but for what it's worth water and electricity are still working. Most of the time.
Needless to say, exploring is more risky these days as buildings may still cave in without warning and seemingly solid roads may crack open to drop anunsuspecting wanderer into underground caves left behind by the quakes.
And yet the city can still be explored. If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Now what's happening with the hangar?!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Tony -- Stark? Iron Man?
[ It's probably thankful that Tony doesn't have a secret identity because nobody's schooled Steve in multiversal etiquette yet. He nods in agreement. ]
It'll be safer if he flies you out.
[ But he goes to check the wall next to them anyway, see if it's sturdy enough to bounce off of, just in case they take that option. It's too high for him to safely clear while holding someone else, but he could protect her with his form and use a launching point. ]
no subject
[Though she had gotten a ride once. It had been a rush. Though it had been followed by deep introspection from Tony. The man seemed... Well, Tae and Wesker really did think they needed a therapist to show up.]
And last I saw the armor, it seemed damage. From when he tried to stop a volcano I believe.
no subject
Yeah, that's Tony. I know him.
[ He neglects to mention the part where they haven't talked in two years and they're not on speaking terms, but he doesn't know that he actually doesn't know this one. ]
Any way that you could tie the dress for a second? 'Cause if I jump up my main concern's with protecting your head first and your dignity second, ma'am. I'm sorry about that.
But we've also gotta get out of here in case another quake comes.
no subject
She does gesture to the dress. The one that doesn't fall much past mid thigh and absolutely doesn't have the excess material to be tied anywhere. So sadly, she can't help.]
Yes, concussions are horrid things. But you seem an honorable enough gentleman than I'm less worried about you than I would be over Tony, charmer that he is.
no subject
[ He doesn't really know how to answer that, but he is done with checking the wall for stability. If anything happens, at least he's pretty sturdy. ]
Okay. I just need you to hold on tightly. I think, if I put one arm under your knees and one around your shoulders, could you tuck your head against my chest? I'll be able to shield you from at least some debris if we kick up any.
How's that sound?
no subject
I can agree to that. But please, if I'm going to do that I feel like I should offer my name first. Dr. Takemi, but please call me Tae.
no subject
[ And with that, he comes over to carefully and gently scoop her up, very careful not to do so too quickly in case she has any qualms about it. Mostly it was just that he had seen Iron Man do a lot of rescues safely and with no issues with skirts, so he's just going to be very, very careful. ]
Ready, Tae?
no subject
[She of course allows herself to be picked up, but damn he does it so easily. It's like she weighs nothing. And, of course, she tucks her head against his chest like requested, bowing it down and even putting her interlocked fingers over the back of her neck as added protection there.]
Quite ready, sir. And thank you.
no subject
[ But as she's ready, he nods and then jumps up, leaps off of the side of the wall, almost inhumanly high, as he lands with a soft thud somewhere he's almost certain the ground is stable. And then, with that, he gently lowers Tae to her feet, staying there in case she feels wobbly. ]
Where were you headed? I don't know if another quake's coming.
no subject
[Cap, huh? Military then. Of some measure or another. How intriguing. And then there they are, him jumping too high to make sense. She makes a surprised noise and then she's already on the ground. What?]
Oh. You're not quite basic human, are you? Intriguing.
[She takes a moment to take her shoes off, because of course that is another thing broken. Oh well. Once it's done she nods toward a distant building.]
Diner, for some lunch.
no subject
[ Because to be fair, the serum was only supposed to make him peak human, but he doesn't know of anyone else who can survive buried in ice for decades. Anyway, Tae doesn't need to know that. ]
Lunch sounds great. You sure you don't need to go get checked out at a clinic? Hospital? I don't even know if there is one.
no subject
There is a hospital, and again, I'm sure I'm fine. The shoes are ruined, again, but I know my body and know how to read signs of pain. I have some scrapes, I'm going to have bruises on my rear, but there's no sprain or twist to the ankles, my knees are fine, and I have nothing to indicate a concussion.
[ She smiles at him, gently at that point. ]
I might not specialize in sports medicine, but I thankfully did pay attention in class and my residency. Trust me.
no subject
[ But he's also the worst patient, so he just wants to make sure she's not putting on a front to keep from inconveniencing him. ]
In that case, lead the way to the diner.
[ Because he doesn't know where it is but a diner sounds like a great idea, and he also gets his hopes up thinking that it's like a diner from home and that the food will be like it is at home, which definitely cheers him up. ]
no subject
I shall. This way. And forgive me for moving slow. Stupid shoes.
[She picks a careful path given she's barefoot, but clearly she's used to doing this.]
The good news is I think Radley had lunch duty today, which means there will be something really nice. He's got a way with spices.
no subject
[ He'd lived through The Depression and so he'd gotten hand-me-downs that were too big for his feet and then stuffed newspapers in them in hopes he'd grow a little taller, or into them, at the time. But he's used to repairing things that break to extend their life, and making do with very little. ]
no subject
[Who even does? Does he? Is this well built man (and yes she eyes him briefly again) actually a cobbler? They could use that.]
I really should just give up on the nice shoes I guess.
no subject
Here? Probably. But you can get nice ones once you get home.
We're supposed to, what, fix the planet?
no subject
Stop the storms, rebuild, and teach. But my main concern is to let everyone else do that while I try and keep you all alive.
no subject
[ It's tongue in cheek but he truly means that he's gonna be one of those guys who gets into lots of trouble and then winds up having to be dragged into a hospital. ]
What've we got so far? Surprised Tony hasn't built up the whole town yet. Haven't met Felwinter - what's he like?
no subject
So you'll be visiting me as often as the teenagers who seem to get themselves into trouble. At least you are accepting the fact that someone needs to patch you up.
[At last they reach the door of the diner and Tae opens it for him. Once inside she moves right past the eclectic combinations of tables and benches and chairs and right to a counter with some self service, buffet style options. She could really go for some salad and soup right now. And bread of course.]
Tony seems more focused on devices than buildings. Is he an architect as well? We have one of those, a man named something Tuesti. As for Felwinter, he is one of two Exos. They are, well, artificial men I suppose one might call them. He is quite strong and wears a very impressive helmet.
no subject
[ That would track with what Steve understands of androids and robots, but to be fair he's only really met two of them and one of them was unfriendly. ]
Well, I know Tony built a building back home, 93 stories tall. Repairs it a lot himself. But he also does a lot of work with devices, so maybe he thinks his time's better spent doing that.
[ It's been so long since they've talked that it feels like Steve's bragging a little bit just because he misses the guy. Anyway, he gets to the buffet and gets a reasonable amount of food, because he knows that things are scarce. ]
Does all the food come from the greenhouse?
no subject
[93 stories, huh? Just a nice skyscraper. How interesting.]
He's been making things for the hospital, so I do appreciate his work. The man is very talented. You should go see him when you've eaten. I can mark where the forge is on your communication device's map if you want. An old friend from home might cheer him up.
[She finishes filling her plate and moves to set it on the table before going to find the tea kettle to fill it with water. It will have to heat in the kitchen but she could use tea.]
From what little I understand, most of it, yes. Though some of it is replicated. Some is local, some is from the rare off-planet trips. There are people here who use the datapoints to specialize in care of the plants. One of the two young men that run this place does a lot of harvesting and preservation of foods I'm given to understand. He's the twin brother of our medic Billy, but I don't see him much around the hospital. All I know is he has white hair and he is one of the beyond human types here. What was the term Billy used...
[She has to think for a moment before she snaps her fingers. That's what it was.]
A 'speedster'. Apparently it requires high caloric intake due to an enhanced metabolism, so that he assists in gathering food for us is probably to this Tommy's benefit as well.
Of course all of this is second hand, so I could be very wrong. Of our agricultural specialists I deal mostly with Link, and that because he has been using the knowledge of the datapoint to help with natural medicines.
no subject
[ He means, about Tony, because he has no idea how to explain to Tae that he'd messed up their friendship seemingly beyond repair by leaving it in Tony's court to reach out, which he subsequently never did. Message received.
That seems a bit personal for having met her just now, but thankfully it's easy to breeze past by talking about some of the others. Billy, he'd heard of in passing, but he doesn't know much about him, only that he's got brown hair and wields magic.
To find out that he has a twin brother who is a silver-haired speedster is a strange coincidence for sure, but Steve doesn't want to read into a situation where he's clearly just trying to relate his experiences. ]
Sounds like everyone's being properly utilized. And the storms? I've heard about those too, but I couldn't tell you the first thing about trying to make one stop. Do we know what the source is?
no subject
Those of us who want to be properly utilized are being so. The others, well, that's their business I suppose. And I'm not the sort of researcher to solve those problems. Can't tell you if they have things figured out. But you're welcome to ask.
no subject
Guess I'll have to. Don't know how long everyone's been here, but I didn't get the chance to tell the people at home that I was leaving, so, getting back's my priority.
[ And of course, helping everyone else out along the way! That part's implied. ]
