FALL TEST DRIVE MEME

FALL TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka
While everyone has been busy trying to solve an attempted murder mystery, the weather has been busy doing- Well. Being the weather. Some may have noticed the temperatures getting milder and the first leaves to slowly shift their color or even find its way down to the ground, but eventually every He-Row may notice that summer is coming to an end and autumn is back for its rightful turn.

There isn't really much out of the ordinary to note, even. The stone leaves that used to be a danger in Sh'Ka are no longer a danger as the leaves of the responsible trees seem more stable now. Perhaps it's because of the work He Rows did with the Barrys to stabilize the groves. So, luckily enough, both cities get to enjoy a fairly normal fall season.

With the exception of the small, unusually frequent energy storms that happen sporadically in both cities. They never last longer than a few minutes, never cover more than the area of a small building and their effect is hardly as drastic as that of their larger counterpart. Your powers are still being limited or taken away, but for a change your loved ones aren't trying to lure you down a cliff, fortunately. Though something feels off about them. They barely notice you when you catch a glimpse of them. Instead they are shambling on their way, seeming disoriented and distant at best. Should you get too close, you might even hear them groan...

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Explore the Ships!
He Rows new and old can make use of the massive hangars in the northern part of Temba to access the equally large Glitter Food and Peanut Party. When He Rows are off the planet, these serve as their homes, their bases of operations, and their vessels all in one. Each He Row has a room assigned to them on their ship, one only they can access. There are also spaces for workshops and labs, for cooking and growing things, and even, shockingly enough, a large green space with trees, grasses, groundcovers, and even a large lake with sand leading on toward it. It shares a wall with the fake aquarium that makes up a wall of a bar like the Deep End. So it's a great place to go swimming provided you remember to wear something. All in all there is a massive ship to explore, and maybe you'll even meet your crewmates there.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

This is pretty tame by York's initial attitude on his arrival to the city over two years ago. There's enough hostility in his facial expression, even for the teenage face he has currently. Also he makes no motion to get closer.

"Yeah, I don't really give a shit which one you are. You're still the deviant hunter either way. This is a great fucking joke the aliens are pulling on me here." He rolls his eyes and lists his head to the side for a moment before focusing on Connor again.

Inspection of York would show various repairs and some damages, with only the repairs on his lower jaw and neck disguised as raised scarring.

"And no, you may not. It doesn't matter here, does it? I'm not a Cyberlife model, and you don't have a police station to go inside of so you can lick humans' boots."

So much hostility. Because he sees Connor as the "deviant hunter".

Well, what a deviant android thinks of Connor isn't strictly his concern. But it wouldn't do to antagonize the very first person he meets here, especially if Connor has to deal with him in the future. He does still have a duty to protect any humans or other organic beings here if this deviant android ever goes rogue, after all.

"Just making conversation." He smiles. "So there's not a police station here; that answers my next question."

No PD to report to, then. But there still must be someone in charge.

"I do still need to find who's in charge here, so I can report to them. Or be assigned to someone." So he can be their problem.

York knows of Connor's... future reputation, and is wary of it, even in the safety here of Temba. At least the other android seems content where he stands, instead of closing the distance. That's fine for York.

The smile isn't met with one back, but York doesn't mouth off hostilities in response, so...progress?

"We don't really have someone in charge, no authority figure like we do in Detroit. We're more like a community that looks out for one another and help where we can." The aggressive look softens a little in his face, and there's a swatch of gold before it turns back to teal. "Which means you're a free android and don't need to be assigned to anyone."

Would the deviant hunter accept such a thing?

It's his current reputation, but Connor just doesn't hear about it and doesn't care about it because Lieutenant Anderson doesn't call him that, so he has no reason to associate it with himself.

This news sets his LED spinning on yellow for a moment while his decision algorithms suggest and dismiss several new courses of action. After a couple seconds, it returns to blue.

"I'm an android," he says simply. "I'm a tool to be used by humans. If there's no one in charge and no command structure, then I will do what is needed by the community as a whole."

His processors can figure it out without a human handler. But he isn't "free". What does that term even mean, when thinking about himself?

"No PD station, either. And just because you're an android doesn't mean you have to be used by humans," comes the added remark with a scoff on the end. "You can answer to yourself and no one else here, you don't need someone's authority to have purpose."

No doubt Reeve and Richie could attest to York not listening to them about being safe and such. "You touch the data point yet? You can stay at the hotel or in one of the ships to rest up whenever you want." York hopes Connor isn't on his, and knows if he were human, he wouldn't rest well knowing a police android was rooming feet away from him.
