Fall Test Drive Meme!

TEST DRIVE
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Fall Test Drive for The Revival Project!

For those who do not know, this game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about what this game is about, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

Starting on the 7th, the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level so we know. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! The only option not allowed is to completely restart your character (because then it's not DFAU, is it?)

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Please use either the first event or the previous TDM for prompt ideas!

Okay, he was being METAPHORICAL. Geez.

"Yeah, it's what I get from being Homo superior," Tommy shrugs. They're a whole species thank you very much. "My uncle was a speedster too. My mom is a witch, my grandfather controls electromagnetic fields. It's all cool."

"Another version of humanity..." Connor couldn't help but wonder if these mutants are the same as the humans that he's encountered, or if there was more than extraordinary abilities that sets them apart. "You're right, that's very cool."

His LED switches from yellow back to blue, as Connor decides to give up on trying to understand this information. He could return to it later, when there weren't more pressing concerns to deal with first.

"My name is Connor. I woke up in this city about half an hour ago." He offers a friendly smile, though it's tight on the edges with worry. "I was wondering how many other people have arrived here in a similar manner."

"Not another version. And normal humans don't tend to take us well. Just the next step in evolution. But I'm really cool. Not Iceman cool, but pretty great."

He does catch sight of the light and that's definitely something he wants to ask questions about, but then the guy is talking so he's got to let it go.

"Nice to meet you, Connor. I'm Tommy. And I haven't bothered to count actually. Sorry. The math is a bit boring."
rk_800: (pensive)

Connor nods as Tommy corrects him, a faint frown on his features. Humans not reacting well... is that anything like what he's seen in the last few months? It seems like too depressing a topic to bring up on a first meeting, but he makes a note of it for later along with the other tidbits on Homo superior.

"Then is there someone in charge I can talk to? Please. I can't stay on this planet." A hint of anxiousness is slipping into his tone. "There are important things happening where I come from. If I remain missing, my friend is going to think that something bad happened to me." Friend, singular, because Connor is sure that none of the deviants would particularly miss the ex-deviant hunter in their midst, even if he had done what he could to redeem himself.

In charge? If only. Tommy can't help but chuckle.

"None of us want to be here, dude. But the Agrii aren't really giving us a choice. I know it's scary, but I guess you're one of us He Rows now. Sorry."

His friend would have to survive without Connor for a while, because Connor was one of their number now. That was just the way the world was working out. Even Billy couldn't get them home, and that was saying something pretty extreme.

Connor is fully frowning now, his body tensing inside and out with an emotion that takes him a few seconds to label as frustration. "I feel sorry for them, but they didn't have to do it this way! They could have asked. Or they could have waited at least a couple of weeks-!"

He cuts himself off once he realizes he's just venting, not adding anything important to the conversation. Connor half-turns away from him, crossing his arms over his chest. "I didn't mean to complain. I know that everyone else here is in a similar situation. I just don't like it."

What would a couple of weeks mater? For all anyone knows, they'll be returned to when and where they were taken from. He does consider the guy for a bit. Looks almost stressed. Interesting.

"You don't have to like it. Most people don't. My twin brother is here, and I would rather he wasn't in danger. He'd be better off home with his fiance. Instead he's here, and we're all here, and all we can do is sorta, you know, do."
rk_800: (sincere)

[personal profile] rk_800 2019-09-07 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Connor nods, inhaling a breath he doesn't need to take and uncrossing his arms. He hadn't intended on acting quite so defensive, but he'd taken that posture without thinking.

"I understand. I would like to help. My primary mission will be finding a way home, but in the meantime I have abilities that could be of use in a dangerous situation." It wasn't hard to predict what situations could arise in a near-abandoned city. He'd certainly heard the howling of an unfamiliar creature earlier, to say nothing of basic human needs and the potential for other disasters.

"I am a prototype RK800 android, designed for investigation and forensic analysis. I know that's unlikely to be useful here, but I was also programmed with basic combat capabilities. I am stronger and faster than a human, and I don't need to eat or breathe."

Abilities good in dangerous situations? Oh, Tommy really raises an eyebrow at that, because he wants to hear what this guy thinks is that. The basic combat abilities definitely pleases him, but he thinks the forensics is useful. But the eating and breathing not being needed?

"Oh yeah, you're going to be useful. Can you see in the dark? Because, like, there are whole portions of the day we're not using because of sight issues. And if you're a robot you're good with machines, right? Maybe you could help with the power situation."

And without needing fed.

"I have better vision than humans do," Conner confirms. "And I can do this." He raises his left hand, projecting a flat hologram that hovers right over the surface of his palm, the image pure white. It's about as useful as the flashlight function on a smartphone, but still better than nothing.

Then he lowers his hand again, head cocked to one side thoughtfully. "I don't have the knowledge for complicated repairs, but I can interface with compatible technology. I'm not sure if I'll be able to access computer systems that weren't made by humans, but I can try."

Of course, limited power meant limited access to computer systems in the first place. It's as good a reason as any to keep the lights on, aside from safety concerns.

[personal profile] doubled_speed 2019-09-08 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Better vision than humans. Yeah, Tommy laughs. A lot. That's really cool, and mostly he's happy because there's so much he has to say about it. The hologram really gets a smile, though.

"You remind me of a late friend of mine. But I think you're going to manage here. Don't let how weird it is scare you, okay?"
rk_800: (sincere)

[personal profile] rk_800 2019-09-09 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Connor doesn't understand what's prompted that laughter. He hadn't been trying for humor at all; he was just concerned with being accurate. It leaves him regarding Tommy with a tilt of his head and a small, awkward smile. Unintentional or not, making him laugh at least seemed like a positive response.

"Yes, I'm sure I will manage, but don't be concerned. I'm not scared. I'm more... concerned about the circumstances."
doubled_speed: (Default)

[personal profile] doubled_speed 2019-09-09 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It's okay, Connor. No way that you could possibly know that Tommy's soul-dad is a synthezoid called The Vision. Who is in town. Fun stuff.

"Yeah, circumstances are weird. But come on, saving an alien race is super cool!"
rk_800: (questioning)

[personal profile] rk_800 2019-09-11 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
The idea that helping them will be 'cool' makes Connor frown faintly, his LED briefly flashing yellow again before returning to normal. "It might be cool, but no one will believe me if I tell them. They're all going to think I suffered a critical malfunction."

Thinking of an eventual return home was more calming than considering the alternative, at least.

"But I still want to meet the Agrii, in person. I want to see what they're like."

"Heroics doesn't necessarily mean putting your name on it," Tommy answers, his voice soft. He's learned that heroics doesn't have to follow you. It's about helping people.

"And we might never meet the Agrii."
