Summer 2025 TDM!

SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Summer in Temba and Sh'Ka
Summers can be brutal in many places, but thankfully that is not true this year on Agra-10. Sure, it's hot, sure it's sunny, and sure it's a bit dry, but hey, it's pleasant this year. Perhaps it's because Temba has become so green. Around the city the Agrii settlers move around happily with their Plantkin guides and teachers, planting plenty of shade plants around the edges of buildings, or digging up areas to turn into ponds or other water features. In a way the place is turning into a beautiful sort of get away. If you ignore all of the broken and falling buildings around the ruins of the former city.

There's a bit more comfort available at on the top of the Civics Center or at the edge of the remains of the Flooded Plain. Here the Agrii have clearly focused their work. Comfortable chairs from the Agrii ship have been brought down, there is a wealth of things to dry off with, and often trays of food laid out. Clearly the Agrii are people that quite fond of water. It isn't uncommon to see them splashing around or to see pink and purple forms diving into the great depths of any bit of water they can get themselves to.

For those looking for a bit less of a crowded place to enjoy the summer heat, there is always the beach south of Temba. Given it's summer the green lobsters are away from the beach and in the watery depths. Of course settling down here to enjoy the cool sea waters can be its own form of frustrating. After all, there are the Birbs to deal with. They're more mischievious than even the brightest Corvid. They will steal just about anything they can carry away if you aren't careful.

Then, of course, there is Sh'Ka. The other city, having been forbidden to the Agrii by the local Plantkin, remains hot, dry, and unpleasant. Thankfully there's plenty of places to beat the heat once you're off the connecting train and waiting for a trip back. The stone buildings actually manage to keep the heat out pretty good, and there's also a lot of shade under the large stone trees. But maybe it isn't wise to hang out under the trees, as the local Deleon population is in herding part of the year. It is rare for them to gather as a herd, but when they do it's to protect their young. This makes them way more riled up and likely to attack anything they deem as a threat.

Or maybe you're someone that likes to stay indoors in the summer. The Diner just off of the central square in Temba is usually open, with food laid out buffet style if you aren't lucky enough to catch one of the local He Rows who run it. There's also the Deep End, a bar in the towers in southeastern Temba where the alcohol is mostly free to access. Just remember not to bother the Colonel and you'll be fine. Maybe you can even pretend you're under water thanks to the wall of the space that is glass and looks into the water that fills the core of the tower complex, complete with local aquatic life. And, thankfully, no swimming Agrii. Yet.

OOC Note: If you require an Agrii for interaction for your TDM, please note it in the first comment. Mods will get to that as soon as they can.

Explore the Ships!
He Rows new and old can make use of the massive hangars in the northern part of Temba to access the shuttles that will carry you up to the currently orbiting Glitter Food and Peanut Party. When He Rows are off the planet, these serve as their homes, their bases of operations, and their vessels all in one. Each He Row has a room assigned to them on their ship, one only they can access. There are also spaces for workshops and labs, for cooking and growing things, and even, shockingly enough, a large green space with trees, grasses, ground covers, and even a large lake with sand leading on toward it. It shares a wall with the fake aquarium that makes up a wall of a bar like the Deep End. So it's a great place to go swimming provided you remember to wear something. All in all there is a massive ship to explore, and maybe you'll even meet your crew mates there. Plus the view of the stars from the dome in the middle of the green space is breathtakingly beautiful. Perhaps even the best view of stars some people have ever had the chance to see.

And, thankfully, the He Rows took care of that pseudo-ghostly problem they encountered in space. So you don't need to worry about seeing weird things, especially with the ship AI unit powered down.

Try the network!
The network is back up! Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
One of the first things a new He Row learns about upon arriving on Agra-10 (by means of touching a tempting glowing orb) is about the energy storms that ravaged and damaged the planet. The brave work of past He Rows in the Fall of 2024 has led to the diminishing of these storms. But just because the machines that were creating and sustaining them have been shut down does not mean that the last gusts of their power cannot be felt from time to time.

The weakened remnants of these power-altering storms blow over parts of the planet every once in a while. And sadly one of these last gusts of misery seems to be approaching. You can tell from the darkened sky and the flickering of electronics. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you are caught unaware.

Should you wind up inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and shuts down all technology and magic in its area. Are you going to seek the relative peace of the indoors? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance. One thing is for sure, this micro storm won't last long, no more than an hour at most, but it will be an experience like few others for the time that it is there.

As for the Agrii, well, thankfully the new weather monitoring system set up by the He Rows, they get enough warning to leave the surface or head into the deep caves before storms hit. Don't worry, they are safe! So don't expect to see them when you're caught up in the lingering final gasps of the storms.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

"Hm. I suppose so. Although I wouldn't ever find it particularly fun to have glitter in my hair." His long silver hair trails all the way down his back to his knees.

He stays relaxed as The Doctor comes a bit closer.

"I am Sephiroth," he says. "It is a more communal situation, yes. We've found that seems to work best for us."

His brows raise, the noise that comes out of the Doctor’s mouth is a mix between impressed and pleased (impleased, if you will).

“Oh! That’s brilliant. Good for you all!” Curiosity electrifies him, turning around to get a gander at more of the gizmos around here.

“And what’s a chap with a name as strong as Sephiroth do around here? I’ve got a couple of guesses up here,” he says while tapping at his temple.

“But I rather get to the spoiler-y bit.”

He nods, pleased by the Doctor's reaction.

"I am here the same as everyone else is, because we were summoned to take care of the situation with the Agrii," he says.
