WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME

WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Explore the city!
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

It was like any other new town then. Find a place and make himself useful. "Alright, not a hard thing to do. Guess I'll check out that hotel after this pleasant chat and friendly drink."
He figured a few days there before he found himself a place and then he'd figure out how to make himself useful around town.
no subject
He tossed his own drink back; it was easier to take in one go than to make a mess sipping when you didn't have lips. "One step at a time, my friend. Sounds like a good plan."
no subject
He'd have to take another look around and not get distracted by the water.
"I've never met a droid - sorry, exo - that can drink." Cobb was mostly ambivalent about droids. Except when they were valued more than him back in the early days. Cayde, though, was clearly something more than a droid.
no subject
His metal jaw quirked in a lopsided grin at Cobb then. "I enjoy a nice bowl of ramen too. Don't ask me how, either. Might sound strange but Exos don't even know how they work. But hey, I figure so long as I'm still kicking by the end of the day, I'm good."
no subject
It was how he thought for the last few years. It would be a hard habit to break.
"I don't know what ramen is." Cobb easily smiled back. Cayde's friendly, easy going nature was definitely helping him feel more at ease. "Sounds like a food. I'm guessing it's not a struggle to survive on this planet."
no subject
"You don't? Oh, you're missing out. You like spicy food? The particular bowl I've been craving's got a great kick. It's a soup of sorts, with these skinny, curly noodles, topped with different things. Good stuff. Been trying to figure out how to recreate it here, but I'm not exactly a cook."
He shrugged. "We're not hurting for supplies, but things could be better. There's some flavored food goo readily available, there's a greenhouse with a bunch of strange fruits and vegetables, there's critters that can be hunted. Takes some extra work is all, readjusting for some."
no subject
A farm and hunting, providing for the town sounded like a good way to make himself useful. If there was nothing else he found more suited to his skills. He really had no idea how to farm.
"I can cook a little," he mused. "Might be able to help you figure it out. Since I'm gonna be stuck here awhile."
no subject
As Cobb considered his options, the Exo nodded, even as he reached over to top off the man's glass. "Well, there'll be plenty of time for experimenting. We also got a diner over by the town square and a kid who's been trying to run it single-handedly. Maybe he'll be open to an extra hand."
no subject
"I'll add it to the list of places to investigate." Cobb should get out of the bar and actually look around town but well, Cayde had topped off his drink and it would be rude if it didn't finish it.
He tossed another few credits on the bar too.
no subject
"And if you got any more questions that come up or just need a hand with something, you can just ask around. No need to be a stranger," he advised. They all started off on the same foot and there wasn't any point in not returning favors.
no subject
"With that few people it shouldn't be too hard to find help when I need it." He knew the importance of friends or just friendly acquaintances. Cobb would figure out who he could count on and who might be better to avoid.
That few people around it shouldn't take too long either.
no subject
Again he nodded at Cobb, figuring he had nothing more to add on that note. Instead he picked up his glass, raising it in something of a toast. He'd fill it again but he'd rather save the stuff for others.
"In the meantime, guess being careful goes without saying. Crumbly buildings aside, there might be a stray giant bug about, and if one of those damned storms come up, I recommend sticking to the safe house in the square."
no subject
Sandswimmers and sandworms immediately jumped to the forefront of his mind. They were pretty dangerous insects native to Tatooine. Or maybe the giant bugs were in the water? Cobb immediately regretted that thought.
Kriff, he hoped there weren't giant bugs in the water. He really wanted to enjoy the sight of endless water. Couldn't he land on a planet kinder than his own?
no subject
"Anyway, one can fly and the other just came out in swarms and has a bunch'a legs, but at least they die pretty easy once you put a bullet or a knife to 'em. Thankfully haven't seen the flying ones lately. Hopefully we got 'em all if not most of them the first time around."
no subject
It still didn't sound like a good time, especially ones that flew. Not many things on Tatooine flew. He knocked back his drink and let out a little sigh. "You know, I'd like a quieter planet but there's something reassuring about large dangerous wildlife being around."
no subject
"Heh! I think I can get where you're coming from. Honestly, if things were quiet and peaceful I'd be really suspicious."
no subject
He set his drink down and turned the glass with his fingers. "Doesn't seem too hard to survive here though. Got the basics, food, water, and shelter. Got other people around willing to help."
Cobb inclined his head towards Cayde. He appreciated the exo's help.
no subject
"Not impossible, no." He gave Cobb a lopsided grin as he nodded back. Like he suggested earlier, most around were willing to help out and look out for each other.
no subject
He finished his drink and then stood up from the stool offering Cayde a hand. "Well, this has been very informative and helpful. I'm gonna have to find a place to stay. If you ever need a hand, don't hesitate to ask."
That was how things were done in Mos Pelgo, after all. Someone helped you and you helped them out in return later.
