WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME

WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Explore the city!
Here's a map and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!
That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar - Or what remains of them. It's painfully obvious that these ships have crash-landed not too long ago and were taken back to the hangar for repairs. You were assigned to one of them and its doors will open for you and let you enter if you wish. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but as neither of them look as if they will be leaving anytime soon that doesn't really matter either way.

Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?

Try the network!
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

Weapons that...disrupt the Force itself, maybe? He's never heard of such a thing, although now he's wondering if the large kyber crystals like he and Sabine and Saw Gerrara came across could be weaponized in such a way. How much that thought disturbs him shows.

"Do - do a lot of people the Agrii have brought here have unusual abilities?" he asks, voice a little unsteady. So much for holding onto calm. He takes another deep breath, trying to center himself. "Did you ever find out where the intruders came from, or what they called themselves?"
out_of_order: (heard that before)

Even if it doesn't show on Ezra's face, Cal can feel the growing unease, and he can't really blame him, remembering how disturbing it was to be cut off from the Force. How anything could do such a thing is still beyond him, but no less disturbing.

"...there's quite a few of us," he acknowledges. "Some call themselves mutants, and I guess they were born with certain abilities. I've met someone who can run and move so fast it's almost impossible to detect. There's a shapeshifter, and there are some whose abilities I'm not even sure what to classify them as. They call it magic." He looks a little uncertain about that, shrugging. "And there are those who can just sense and tap into..." He seems hesitant, but then he doubts he'll ever shake the paranoia, the caution of having to remain hidden for half a decade, and Obi-Wan's concerns are fresh in his mind. "...the Force, we call it. Or at least those from the same galaxy I know."

He arches a brow as he looks at Ezra. 'Karabast' doesn't seem like a word commonly used anywhere, and while he feels it might be a stab in the dark, there's been an...interesting number of people that have been brought in from familiar systems lately.

"The intruders were from a nearby planet- nearby to where the ship had been. They're called the Graq, and they were just as confused to be where they were as anyone else. Someone pulled them aboard the ship, armed them and all they wanted to do was go home."

Ezra listens with growing confusion at the list of abilities that really do sound odd and barely believable - right up until the word 'Force'. Then he goes still, eyes just a little too wide.

"...I know the Force," he admits, quietly. "The Force wielders here, what do they-" No, Cal had implied was one of them, hadn't he? And he has that maybe lightsaber.

Cal doesn't feel Dark, like the Inquisitors and Vader. But then Maul didn't at first, either, at least not strongly against the background feeling of Malachor. And Maul had certainly been capable of hiding himself, afterwards, too.

He straightens his shoulders and lifts his chin a little. "What do you call yourself?"

It's kind of amusing in a way at how easily Ezra's feelings transmit on his face. Cal smiles wryly at the question then, exchanging a glance with BD-1.

"A survivor," he says. "...I was a padawan when the Purge happened. This...might sound strange to you, but I've already met different people from the same galaxy but different timelines. I'm not sure where or when you're coming from, but for me, it's been five years since the end of the Clone Wars and the establishment of the Empire."

"It doesn't sound as strange as you might think," Ezra replies. "I kind of, um, pulled someone through time not long ago. There was a portal to an in between place, from a temple site on my homeworld...it's a long story," he trails off.

Alright. Ok. He nods to himself. He doesn't think Cal is lying. Five years back - he's guessing Cal would have been about the same age Kanan had been. That tracks.

"My master was a padawan who survived the Purge, too. I was born the day the Republic became the Empire."
out_of_order: (sass)

[personal profile] out_of_order 2021-02-12 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
That is surprising, especially in that it seems Ezra's talking about the instance being yet in their neck of the multiverse. "Sounds like quite the story, definitely," Cal says, brows lifting as he tries to process that. A temple... Then something possibly to do with the Force? Then again there's still so much they don't know about it.

"I see. I'm glad to hear there have been others. I know there must be, but...well I guess we wouldn't be doing a great job if we were so easy to find." He tilts his head, doing some quick calculations. "So you're at least further along the line than three of us, maybe. It's kind of strange, but we've got a good handful of people from a familiar galaxy. Then there are others from completely different places, and versions of those same places, from what I've come to understand."

"I'm eighteen," Ezra clarifies. "The Emperor's still alive and horrible. The Jedi are still scattered and mostly hiding, but I know of a few survivors. One less now that Kanan's-"

Gone.

He swallows hard. He imagines Cal can fill in that blank.

"But things are changing. People are tired of being pushed around by the Empire and fighting back. And winning, sometimes," he insists. "I- ah. Did something. It was supposed to give my family and friends a chance to kick the Imperial troops off of Lothal entirely. I knew it would take me far away from them. I didn't expect.... quite this far away."
out_of_order: (not as planned)

[personal profile] out_of_order 2021-02-12 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
The expression that crosses Cal's face is a sympathetic one. He knows the pain of losing a master all too well. The name Kanan doesn't ring a bell, but there had been so many back then that it's possible they'd never met.

"...I'm sorry," he says, giving the smallest of nods. "Can't say I blame the Jedi for still wanting to be in hiding, for those still out there. We were betrayed and from the sound of it, people didn't care to try and clear our name. But with the Emperor still in power, I guess that's no surprise."

He lifts his head then. It's only inevitable that there would be those who have been pushed too far. "I knew there were some groups. I've only met one headed by a Saw Gerrera, out on Kashyyyk. But I'm glad to hear people are fighting back." Winning is good. But the sometimes implies the unsaid, and fighting against an Empire can't be easy. Still, what Ezra continues with has Cal blinking.

"Lothal...I've heard of it but never been there. What did you do?"
ezra_of_lothal: (Ezra shrugging by redacreuse)

[personal profile] ezra_of_lothal 2021-02-12 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
He knows Saw. He decides not to mention his differences of opinion about methods with the man, for the moment.

"Have you ever heard of the purgill? Really big space creatures that crash into ships sometimes?" He gestures to indicate really big.

"I made friends with some a while back. Turns out, they're pretty powerfully connected to the Force, and they can, like legends say, go into hyperspace naturally. So I-" He rubs the back of neck, a little sheepish, because he knows this sounds ridiculous out loud. "Asked them to come grab and kidnap the Imperial fleet blockading Lothal. They're pretty intelligent, but I couldn't exactly give them a detailed battle plan, so I told them to zero in on me. And then made sure I was on the bridge of the flagship."
out_of_order: (sometimes I'm not being chased)

[personal profile] out_of_order 2021-02-12 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
These purgill certainly sound impressive. Cal looks at BD-1, the little droid hooting in awe at the thought. How he'd love to scan one of those!

"You made friends with one? Sounds like you've got an affinity with animals," Cal marvels, grinning a bit. "Wow... That sounds amazing. And pretty dangerous, but..." Dealing with the Empire, being a Jedi- these were dangerous times. "So that's what you remember last, then."
