Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Explore the city!

Here's a map and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!

That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar - Or what remains of them. It's painfully obvious that these ships have crash-landed not too long ago and were taken back to the hangar for repairs. You were assigned to one of them and its doors will open for you and let you enter if you wish. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but as neither of them look as if they will be leaving anytime soon that doesn't really matter either way.

Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?

Try the network!

Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...

These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Wildcard!

You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

Oh, that makes more sense. Eh. Whatever. In response to her question, he just starts walking south. It's a long walk on short legs, but he's got a hankering for some fish.

"Could probably carry you, if you wanna get there faster, wherever it is," Starling offers, following him. He doesn't look that heavy. She's carried tactical gear that weighed more.

Well, he wouldn't say no. He pauses and looks up at her. A free ride? Sure!

She picks him up gently, making sure to give him the proper suppport as she hoists him up onto her shoulders. Still holding on to one of his hands for a piggyback ride, Starling tilts her head so she can see him.

"Okay, kiddo, which way?"

He giggles, ears raising as he looks about from his new vantage point. This is a whole new way to be carried. It's amazing!

Oh. She asked him a question. He points towards a building towering over the town. Thataway!

"You like piggyback, huh," she guessed, as she headed in the direction of the tower. "Yeah, I always loved it, too. You feel like you can see the whole dang world. ... 'Course from the top of a place like that, I bet you really can."

She's got her hair tied back in a simple elastic. It might just look like it was made for fidgeting with, to small green fingers.

He does! Maybe he could try to get Din to carry him like that. While she walks, he looked around at everything. It really was different from up there.

As he looked, he noticed that elastic. What are this? He tilted his head, gingerly reaching out to poke at it.

She was making good pace toward the tower: it was an easy landmark, the streets were clear, and he didn't weigh much at all. She'd humped more across the training courses or on jump-outs. She was taking in the details of it all for her own reference, lost in observing, when he distracted her with that little poke at the back of her head.

"What is it, little guy? Need someth--" She stopped to turn and look at him, then realized what was going on as his tiny fingers brushed her ponytail. "What, this? It's a hair tie."

She reached back behind her and pulled her ponytail around to the front, sliding the padded elastic off as she did so. "Here. You can take a look. Just be careful, okay? It's stretchy. If you stretch it too far and let go fast you could hurt your fingers."

Oh cool, a new toy? He took it, gingerly stretching it between his hands. Sure there were things like that in his time, but this looked so primitive! He made a curious cooing noise as he played with it.

She chuckled softly to herself as she kept their course toward the towers. The cooing was absolutely adorable, and as strange as Starling's little passenger looked, she was getting the same impressions as she would have with any curious human child. It was refreshing, and even a little comforting. Maybe a lot comforting.

"You must be going right out of your pretty green head with being somewhere so new. But then again, you're still curious and exploring, so maybe it's not so bad, yeah? I hope you're not here all by yourself."

He shook his head. Though she couldn't see it, so that really didn't help much. No. He wasn't there by himself. Then again, he wasn't always certain if people just meant Din or if they meant it in the general sense of people looking out for him. He continued stretching the hair tie, curious as ever about it.

She could feel the slight movement on her back, but was only able to guess whether it was a 'yes' or a 'no'. He didn't seem very sad. "If you've got someone here, that's good. But if you can't find them, ever, you can come find me, okay? I grew up looking after lots of little ones. Like to think I'm still pretty good at it."

He made an affirmative noise. It was nice to have friends. He hadn't had this many in a log time!

As he fiddled with the elastic, it snapped and flew off to the side. Clarice kept walking, leaving him looking back and forth from her red hair and where the elastic had gone. Finally, he held out a hand back towards it and it rose up, zipping through the air into his hand.

She completely missed the little trick, as they were getting close to the tower now, and she was keeping an eye out to see if anyone else was there.

"Almost there, little guy. We're going inside, yeah? Is this where you live?"

Ahaha fear his sneaky Jedi skills!

He makes a happy little noise and points towards the door. Yes, good. Inside, please!

Inside it was, then. She carried him through the door and glanced around. "Looks like it's seen better days..."

There was a sign, newer than most of the interior, though, near the stairs, and she pointed to it. "The Deep End, huh? Is this where we're headed?"
