WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME

WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Explore the city!
Here's a map and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!
That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar - Or what remains of them. It's painfully obvious that these ships have crash-landed not too long ago and were taken back to the hangar for repairs. You were assigned to one of them and its doors will open for you and let you enter if you wish. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but as neither of them look as if they will be leaving anytime soon that doesn't really matter either way.

Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?

Try the network!
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

"Those aren't stairs! Those are death traps if you get your foot caught on the edges!" Cayde stubbornly stuck to his guns. It wasn't an argument he was terribly committed to, and he was eager enough to shift more to other topics, such as the lake.

"Oh not that lake- the one out by the clock tower- the flood plains. Lots of places for big underwater critters to hide. This one, I don't think anything bigger than that window would be sustained for as long as things have been here but thankfully I haven't seen anything that looks like it could swallow anyone whole peeking inside." And if he did he was inclined to leave it unless it looked like it was trying to get in. Or out. Whatever.

The argument was pointless but that was the point. Cayde hadn't asked how things were back home. She didn't want to tell him about the encroaching Darkness and his death. Arguing about stairs would keep them from straying into dangerous territory. "I'm sure Sundance is keeping a close eye on you when you climb stairs."

Ah, yes, she had that information in her mind now didn't she? A map of this city. A huge stretch of water, yes, she could picture it in her mind. "I will make sure to stay in the shallows if I go near the water."

It was deflection at his finest. Having been here as long as he had, asking what the last thing Ikora was aware of back home might have been among the questions to ask. There were little things that nagged at him enough that he did otherwise. Besides, he thought- did it really matter? Of course that question twisted an entirely different knife in his gut that he didn't want to think about that one either.

"Always does." He winked, easily keeping darker thoughts from his face, but then the mask he wore was an old, familiar one as it was, that devil-may-care attitude as much a true part of reboot Six as the one that existed in deeper thoughts and scrawled memories. "You're lucky your Ghost came along. Sundance came later, appeared randomly on the Agrii ship, you know? All I arrived with when I first popped up on an alien planet was everything I wear and my Ace of Spades." Not that he complained about having his precious hand cannon.

"I have no weapons."

And her relationship with her ghost was not as friendly as Cayde and Sundance. There was a stretch of time where she and Ophiuchus didn't speak to one another. He did his duty because of his loyalty to the Traveler, not to her. Not really.

Times were better but their relationship was still more professional than friendly.

"And I feel my connection to the Light is... strained. That I can't reach for as much power as I want or as I can back home." She raised an eyebrow to see if Cayde felt the same.

"A problem easily solved," Cayde promised, not that he expected she'd be surprised that he'd been collecting weapons as he could. "Unfortunately nothing as fancy or custom as we're used to but they're still serviceable."

He drummed his fingers on the countertop, nodding slowly then. "There's that," he admitted, although given the circumstances it was still better than nothing at all. "Takes a little longer for a good solar charge but I save that for when they'll really count. Sundance can still do a quick fix but I don't know about the rez's."

"Already collecting treasures. I should've known." Ikora would appreciate a weapon though. She felt... somewhat uneasy without a reliable weapon at her side and the Light so distant.

This wasn't quite the Red War but there were hints of it. The slow build of power. The Traveler's presence mostly silent in her mind. Yet, the Darkness was still there too, chanting away as always.

"Hopefully, we won't need to find out if they can bring us back from death." She would watch Cayde's back and he would watch hers.

"Calling them treasures would be a stretch- I've actually had to pay for some of these!" He made it sound like that was a crime.

Cayde could tell she was still mulling over that weakened connection, the implications it might hold and whatever other things a Warlock tended to ponder. The Red War had left a definite impression on all of them, after the loss of the Light, after loss of so many...

"Hopefully," he agreed. Even with no obvious opposition, there were still unknown dangers. The incident at that weird radio tower had proven as much. At least there wouldn't be any shortage of mysteries for Ikora to apply her Warlock mindset to.
