Character Tags Poll - Open through 9/27
Hi guys! So, starting October 1, we'd like to implement a tagging system. All this means is we'd ask that you please tag any IC posts your character makes or replies to in the community (IC inboxes are exempt, that's up to the person who owns it!) with your character's tag. This is meant to make things easier for everyone — easier to find threads for AC and easier to remember/track down what characters have done in the past.
Don't worry about anything you've posted before October 1 — the mods will take care of retroactive tagging, since it took us so long to get moving on this.
But! Before we can implement a tag system, we've realized there are a couple of ways to go about making the tags. We'd like your input — after all, you're going to be the ones actually using your character's tag. We've included a couple of options below; please pick one you like and let us know in the comments. We'll try to go with the most popular pick. Again, we'll reply to your comment on the AC post with the tag you'll ultimately use, once we've got a system chosen. Don't worry about anything until you get a comment from us with your tag.
(We also apologize that this is not a real DW poll, only paid accounts can make those, so please just reply with your preferences and/or any comments! Thanks so much for your understanding!)
Tagging options:
Option 1: Simply your character's name: Wanda Maximoff, Katara, Leonard McCoy. In this case, if your character is an AU of a given canon, their name will include (AU) — e.g., James Buchanan Barnes (AU) for
stillgotmyleftarm. Right now, we have no duplicates, but we realize with several canons this could become a possibility. Characters show up in MCU and comics, or Dr. McCoy (currently from the AOS version of Star Trek) could also be apped from the TV series. With this system, the first character to apply/character currently playing gets to use just their name. The second character would get a tag that includes their canon: For example, if we get a Wanda Maximoff from the comics, her tag would be Wanda Maximoff (comics) or somesuch, while the current MCU Wanda would get to keep her plain Wanda Maximoff tag because she was here first.
Option 2: Everyone's tag includes their canon or some type of canon identifier, right from the start: Wanda Maximoff (MCU), Katara (ATLA), Leonard McCoy (ST: AOS). AU characters get an additional AU tag: James Buchanan Barnes (MCU AU). This avoids the need to worry about potential duplicates coming in with different tags later, but is also longer and a little less simple from the start.
Option 3: Something we haven't thought of! Got a different solution entirely? Let us know! We will certainly entertain it, but keep in mind the idea is to make tags easy to use and intuitive, both for current players and anyone looking up character interactions down the line.
Please drop a comment below if you have a preference, or if you have any questions! Thanks for taking the time to read through all of this, and keep on surviving (and reviving)!

series: character name would work best, since it would divide tags into subgroups on the tag page.
for instance- mcu: wanda maximoff, star trek aos: leonard mccoy, etc.
If you don't think that'd work then option 2.
