Ex Floor A Shun Ad Vent Tour!

It has been a while without word from Ga Re or anyone else. Weeks go by since the end of the strange situation in Billy’s city. In all that time, you have had time to rest. Maybe you went to the beach or off on an adventure. Whatever you did, the quiet is about to end as your communicator beeps with a message in the middle of the day. It is from Ga Re and is a rare video message, her pink face smiling as it takes up all of the screen. She hasn’t done a lot of these so the idea of holding it further away hasn’t occurred yet. As it is, she is cutting off her top eye but you get the idea.

Hello, He Rows! We glad all are good! New He Rows, whale come too! Hope like home here. Hope you help with new miss-shion. Agrii have found things! We search for day-ta that help He Rows and Agrii. We find city. Like Temba but not. Not-Temba far a-way but we help He Row go. En-er-gy in Not-Temba is like Temba! Agrii know not why. He Rows look! Learn! Help! We show way. We help! We help lot!

Ga Re moves out of frame and returns a moment later, even closer. On your communication device, you see the new city marked and a map to go along with it. Not-Temba is far. Very far. But Ga Re is smiling as she continues on.

Agrii make train go! Train work now. Take to Not-Temba. Will work now on if He Rows need. Agrii make sure.

But if He Rows no go, more strange here in Temba too. Mines have secret. Agrii no find. Can not see. Bad Bugs go so He Rows can go and find. En-er-gy in mines strange. Some thing wrong in mines. Please go and see. Learn! If He Rows see, Agrii see and all learn! Impor-tant!

She leans back and finally is not on top of the camera. Ga Re smiles and gives them a short wave.

Agrii watch He Rows and protect. Ga Re help when can. Thank you, He Rows. We owe you all. Be safe! Talk soon.

And the communication ends.

True to Ga Re’s words, as soon as she left the screen, the train on the eastern edge of the city buzzed into life once more. It waits there, ready for any passengers to climb on board. A few minutes after it has any number of them, it will speed off along the track and into an underground tunnel before emerging once more, an hour later, in a new town. A town that is different and yet oddly the same.

You’ve arrived in Not-Temba and It’s ready for you to explore.

In a lot of ways this new town looks very much like the capital of Temba. For one thing there's no denying that it hasn't been lived in for a very long time. Many structures are damaged or even fallen, the roads are broken up and ruined by the progress of time and tree roots, and even the atmosphere seems to speak of a place long since abandoned.

There are differences though, first and foremost of which is that while the air is humid, there is a lot less standing water throughout the whole of the city. The flooded areas that seem common in Temba are not found as easily here. Instead the dominant form of wear and tear over time seems to come from the preponderance of plant life, especially tall, durable trees with trunks that in some cases are so thick that it might take three or four people joining hands to encircle them. These trees not only grow all over the town, but even on the roofs of some structures, or in places where they might once have been meant as decorative elements, with these rooftop forests and decorative areas being more likely to be fruit or nut bearing trees.

There's also a general difference in the architecture itself, but that's just something that happens between different places, right? Where Temba is often structures of metal and glass and stone, this city is almost only stone. Stone that looks carved from a single piece, or stones that seem strangely fused together by melting rather than with mortar or careful cutting. Many of the structures, even those with windows, don't have glass in them but rather screens of stone or extremely hard wood that have miraculously survived over long years in some chunks.

The truly insightful explorer might even find that the scale of the city is different. The city doesn't cover nearly as much ground, and even what it does tends to be in smaller buildings. Not shorter, no not that at all, but smaller. More designed to account for the size and bulk of a large human, whereas Temba tends to have tall doorways and slightly wider halls. The buildings are all though, with more floors and often the lower ones dedicated to open spaces or not seeming nearly as in use as higher ones. Guess some people just like to build up. But again, architectural styles do change over the years and between different regions on other planets, so it isn't' all that shocking. Right?

But what if you decided not to go on the train? The mines were also identified as a place that the Agrii want investigated. When you head that way, you will see that the rage bugs down there seem to be gone. All the walls are now covered with this strange, pastel green goo that hums a little as you pass it. Written at the entrance near the first big glob is the classic Agrii pink font. It says: NO BUG GEL! with a smiley next to it. So it seems like you’ll be safe from them for now as you go in.

The trail leads deeper to a series of tunnels, each one dark and of indeterminate length. As you choose one and go down it, you will find that each one loops into the others. A maze of tunnels that all bring you back to the start. Except for one. One of the tunnels has a small crawl space halfway down it. Barely big enough for someone to get through. But if you do, you will find yourself in another space. A large, wide tunnel that brings you to a metal door. Rust has worn its hinges off and it lays open for you to go inside, if you wish.

Inside lies what strangely looks like the inside of the blinking tower’s building. Just less sophisticated, somehow. Less buttons and less things to touch. It also is completely powered down without even a single light on. In spots there almost seems to be places where energy crystals could go, but the connection between them and the larger apparatus are broken in many places. That may need to be repaired before power is restored.

Against one wall is a series of displays. Far more than the two at the building near the tower. None of them have anything displayed yet but they are connected to all the other machinery in the room so there is no reason to think they won’t turn on when/if you can get it working.

Against another wall is a bigger screen with buttons beneath it. It’s similar to the one on the Agrii ship in the records room. However, this one has almost no buttons that look as though they can be pressed and none of them are labelled. Who knows what it can be?

Of course, there is no need to do either if you do not wish. Temba itself has plenty left to explore. You could decide to stay behind and see if anything else has come to life or if anything still has secrets to uncover. The choice is yours and the information to gather will, as always, depend upon your choices.

Good luck, He Rows. And happy X-Floor-A-Shun!

FAQ

We have a new city?!

Sure do! The train will be dropping you off in their own train station and for the moment you can go and explore all over the place. Below there is going to be a City Questions thread that you can ask OOC questions about regarding what can be found in different locations on the map. There will also be an update mid-event where we will add in anything major that gets discovered or any additional places to go, should they pop up.

PLEASE NOTE: The comms will not work between Not-Temba and Temba right now. Comms folk can work on that but for now you're cut off.

And the mines?

Same as the above. We will have a Mines Questions thread that will be below for any insight you need. Mostly, however, the details are in the blurb. For now the biggest thing will be trying to get the place to work or even getting the opening wide enough for people to get in. There’s a little ground to cover before this is up and running. But, once it is, there will also be a mid-event update that tells you more about what you’ve uncovered.

And, for the love of God, will you tell me about XYZ in the city now?!
YES! Yes! There are some players out there that are going around and doing their own exploration in Temba. Below there will be Temba Questions which will be answered for any players that want to stay in the city and explore there.

Please. Please, answer my question. I have been waiting so long….

You really have. OKAY! So, one area of interest is going to be the area that Drake was searching in. That whole area has the look of a residential area that is a bit more secure than the average bear. Why? Because as you explore it, you will find that it is more a jail than a hotel complex. But all of the cells are so much smaller than the rooms in Temba. There are also no bars on the rooms. There are what look to be generators though. Forcefield generators? Who knows! Time to go explore the center building and see if you can find something to tinker with that can turn the power on to this area. Some people might just need a time out one day....

Can I talk to Ga Re? Get some more information?

Nope. She’s a busy Agrii. Things to do. He Rows to watch. Maybe some other time.

How long will this event be?

Since this is a major plot event we are giving you a lot of time here. You'll have till September 1st to explore before we bring you all back for a cool down.

What Questions Have Been Answered So Far?

Do you at least happen to have a MAP for this new city??
Sure do!

Cobb & Ikora Event Plotting

[personal profile] heypartner 2021-07-12 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Cobb
Having spent most of his life as a slave in mines on Tatooine Cobb will stay behind and head underground. He's comfortable in that environment and will probably point out places that need support. He's also a tall, skinny beanpole so maybe he can squeeze through the gap. He'd be willing to volunteer for this. Again, comfortable in the dark, cramped places of a mine.

Ikora
Will be taking the train to the new city and exploring around. Willing to group up with anyone as a fireteam though will probably give Cayde priority since they're old buddies used to working together in unusual places. Will be most interested in the civic center and library in terms of exploration.

Moony Event Plotting

Moonshade will be traveling to not-Temba (and bringing Steadypaw with her). She's particularly interested in the overgrown forest (look, she's a wood elf, this isn't a shock), but will also be paying attention to the agriculture building and plant life in this new city. She's just doing vine out here--though notably, she does not have the Security datapoint or any ranged weaponry, so there might be an opportunity for someone to do a rescue when she gets in over her head.

I'm going to be hitting the Flora page hard once I have a moment to brainstorm things.

Tommy
Tommy will indeed be going to Not-Temba. He's going to be interested in the greenhouse, of course. He wants more plants. Given his anxiety over people getting hurt I can also see him wasting a lot of energy checking in on others here.

Reeve
Reeve will be staying in Temba to help with the Mines. He'll be available to try and work with other engineers to get the stuff they find running, but he might not be as useful for that, because even back home this isn't his best sort of engineering and he'd rather default to people who might have some experience with this sort of equipment AND engineering data point.

Lauri-Ell
She's probably going to ask for guidance. She doesn't know if she should protect people going to Not-Temba or people in Temba. She's going to be so worried and torn. And will default probably to wherever Billy goes. Good dog

Lark
Sticking in Temba. She's not interested in all of this exploration. She just wants to make more cloth and clothing for everyone. Consider this her quiet time of work. She can probably be asked to check on whether plants from Not-Temba are good for thread.

Din is headed to Not-Temba to explore, and help take stuff back to Temba? Up for teaming up with others, too. He'll be bringing the blurrg with him(once he can get it on the train), so if people want lifts around the city, they can ask. He'll also be taking his jetpack, so he might be willing to give lifts that way, too.

Plot with Tony!

[personal profile] in_extremis 2021-07-12 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony's so excited he's already in Not-Temba. He ran ahead of the train. No, he didn't stop to bring anything, why do you ask?

He'll work on setting up inter-city communications pretty early, so anyone who wants to do that come talk.

I don't know what state the Iron Man is in right now, so that might depend on Maximum Drama. Anyone who wants to explore with Tony, feel free to suggest abilities or limitations.

He's probably going to focus on the Transport Station and the Hangar to start with! Does anyone else want to poke around these places?

Plot with Obi-Wan!

[personal profile] hadthehighground 2021-07-12 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
He is going to Not-Temba and will be checking things out. His piloting data point is useless but he still wants to explore.

Obi-Wan is willing to help other people out with things like gathering food, or do things Jedi can do like lift big boulders with the Force or jump to high places or cut through things with his lightsaber. Just ask!

Billy Billy go to Not-Temba thinking he can play nursemaid and ferry people back quicker if they get hurt, but since he can't, he will try to explore the hospital and see if there is anything there he can use.

Also...Secret Tunnel, just to be sure.

He will also be available to teleport items to the train station for people if things are heavy, large or abundant, feel free to ask.

Poe Will spend at least some time in Not-Temba. He would be very interested in exploring the Hangar, as that's where he spends most of his time

Catra Might go to Not-Temba to climb around, could get into places others can't possibly, if you can convince her. But she has no driving desire currently to explore anything specific.

Beck Will try to argue that they should get the satellite up to assist with communication and/or try to locate where Not-Temba is. He's been staying at the train station, so he'll be pretty startled. He'll likely spend some time doing both, scavenging in Not-Temba, looking for rods, and offering his assistance in the mine.

Bucky Questing for a fucking knife.

He'll try and do a more grid pattern exploration of Not-Temba, maybe see if there is anything beyond.

Jon is heading to the new city, obviously.

Library is right on top of his list, followed by seeking out other familiar structures like the hospital, the burned out data point at the center and go on a renewed search for any remains of written notes.

Feel free to join him or wait until he gets chased by the local fauna. No spiders this time.

€dit:
He gets to find something curious to study.

Grogu
The littlest engineer is going to be going to Not-Temba with his Dad and Obi-Wan. My one goal is for him to eat something weird XD

Eddie
Fuck to the No. He's staying put and making sure the hospital is as ready as possible for when the dumbass explorers come back and need medical attention.

Padme
She wants very badly to explore. But since her most trusted babysitters are all going, unless someone volunteers, she's stuck at home.

Nat
She took the Security Data Point, so she'll be bringing along a sidearm. She'd love to go to New-Temba, but she's going to wait and see who's doing what before she decides. If it looks like a lot of heavy hitters are taking the train, she'll go down in the hole and vice versa. If it's balanced enough, she'll be hopping that train. Either way, I hope she'll get to be her badass self and info gather/kick something's ass.
kyley_b: (trying my best)

Kaaaahhhhhhl.

[personal profile] kyley_b 2021-07-12 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Kyle's going to the new city, because it's impossible for him not to wander blithely into the unknown. He'll be focused mostly on the Agriculture Building and University/Library. And Alien Target 2: Electric Boogaloo.

He'll probably almost die. He's good at that.

[personal profile] fatedsacrifice 2021-07-12 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
This guy is used to investigating, foraging, ruined cities and getting parts for others to rebuild things. So to that end I'll be having him look around University/Library, Theater, Museum and overgrown forest.

He's excellent with swords & magic, he can also heal to a point so if someone needs a rescue/save he can also warp with them (akin to teleporting) or warp to get a high thing or somewhere.

Clarice is going down into the mines. Once a Virginia girl, always a Virginia girl. She's had it easy so far, and I would love to bang her up a bit this event, so if anyone wants to have fun with near-cave-in experiences and such, I'm all for it.

Aeon is heading to Not-Temba to explore, because curiosity repeatedly killed the cat. She's going to be focusing on the Transport and Power stations, the Theater, anything that has techy gadgets that she can use her new shiny Engineering point knowledge on. Someone please be on hand in case she electricutes herself.

Quill is undecided and a lazyass, so he will probably be kicking around Temba in case anyone hauls him along and makes him be responsible. He DOES have his collapsible helmet now, though, which has a filtration system and would make him useful in places where you're not sure if you can trust the atmo. If nothing else, drag him along for that.

Would anyone make an effort to slow the process down and get actually organized?

OKAY so now that I've got time stuff straightened out I think all my peoples will be making way out to the new city at some point.

Cal will want to do some exploring at the new place, but he'll be back and forth if anything's needed from him. He's got some vague familiarity with the mechanisms under the formerly blinking tower after Jon had told him to have a look at things, and he's also been aboard the Agrii ship. Anyone need an engineer or a lightsaber or both, he's your guy,

Cayde will be like I KNEW IT and out there first thing, before Ga Re hangs up the phone. Right up there with Tony, haha. All up for fireteaming it with Ikora to do some exploring. He'll probably be spending the most time/all of the time out beyond unless someone needs him back in Temba. But Hunters be Hunters yo.

Lord Felwinter will be least likely to head out to the new city, at least right off the back. He's still relatively new and this being the first time hearing from these Agrii, he's unsure about how wise it would be for everyone to go running off and leave Temba undefended.

Omega is going to arrive and be very confused. No squad but she's got a new mission from a strange pink person? Mostly she'll be trying to find her footing. She might follow someone aboard the train at some point though, just sayin'.

....will be staying in Temba and venturing into the mine because that's his jam. He has lots of experience doing dangerous and uncomfortable things, like risking his life to find and study/accidentally activate alien technology.

Skills he can bring to the table:

He is small and can almost certainly fit through that hole with ease. Though he might have to ask someone to hold his vest and/or backpack for him and then pass it through after.

He has the Engineering data point, and is also a brilliant astrophysicist and a skilled engineer who regularly encounters and works with alien technology back home (and across the galaxy).

Since he's got military field experience, he'll be as prepared as he can be with what supplies he was able to find on Coruscant. This includes a (limited) emergency first aid kit and the combat care training to use it (that is, if he doesn't panic too badly, he could stabilize an injury/injured person until an actual medic arrives, but he is Not That Kind of Doctor), a water canteen, a utility knife, a small flashlight, chalk (because he's already learned he might need some from the last time he was - no wait, the time BEFORE the last time he was lost in a cave), his blaster, a flight helmet that's just a little too big on him, and of course, his tablet and its various connectors and clips. And snacks. He never goes anywhere without protein bars or something similar, so in this case...maybe some jerky and sugar cubes.

He does NOT have: extra or waterproof flashlights, gloves, kneepads, or rope. He really wishes he did. He also has no harness or any equipment meant to lower or raise a person up and down, plastic bags, or anything explosive.

He MAY bring the mobile probe until he gets to the crawlspace, at which time DREA (Device for Remote Expeditionary Analysis) will have to bail.

Ronan is going to be going to not-Temba, and exploring, because it'll remind him of his best-friend, who is not here. He could also use a few people for company, if anyone's interested.

He's also going to dream and talk to the trees. So if anyone wants to hear about the trees, this is totally stuff it's possible for him to share with people. He will probably be a bit defensive about the trees: they talk, so can we please be nice to them??

But elsewise he's probably just going to get himself in trouble, like you do. Definitely checking out the overgrown forest, the museum, library, power station, maybe the civics center and the department store..... skipping the library because that definitely sounds way too much like homework. :(

Richie Is gonna stick with Eddie for most of the time. He will probably be persuaded to maybe go to the Mines or explore around town but he will not go to New-Temba unless Eddie does too. He's not whipped. You're whipped. Shut up.

[personal profile] demjiin 2021-07-13 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Kaz is very keen to explore Not-Temba and he will eventually end up everywhere. He would save stuff like the Livestock Nursery, the Museum, and the Overgrown Forest for after he's done pretty much every other location on the map but it would actually be harder to come up with a location he would not want to explore.

He does have the Engineering datapoint, though. So if there's a way to find the same material in the Beach Caves here then he could make some of the needed energy crystals.

Okay okay okay

Echo's gonna be like. Staying in Temba for a while longer, but he'll eventually make his way over to Not-Temba. So far I'm just thinking he's on autopilot once he's over there, doing recon and acting as backup whenever he comes across the other folks already bouncing around the city.

in the meantime, merrin will probably be going back and forth between temba and not-temba. idk if she'll be in the first group out there but she definitely wants to explore!! she can't teleport between the two places (lmao) but once she sort of gets an idea of where things are in not-temba she can teleport herself and other people and things around! she also has some fun magick that can get into interesting places if anyone needs help there

love you guys, don't have too much fun without me ❤️
