Time for a Vote! We've got some planet ideas below for our first stop. We're going to be doing this by ranked choice voting. Let us know in the comment thread below what your preference is using the provided form! Please see Venidelosia's brief descriptions of potential planets to visit as your first investigative stop

A Watery Adventure
Knowing that the Agrii are evolved in some highly aquatic environment, Venidelosia puts forth a relatively nearby star system she is aware of that her records indicate to be a planet with a high percentage of surface oceans. Her records on the planet are damaged, but they indicate that the Agrii's ancestors may have been collected relatively near this system. She is aware of there being floating cities, which may be useful for gathering information.

What she cannot tell you but is relevant for your OOC decision making is that here there be pirates! Join us on a swashbuckling adventure with this watery planet!

An Abandoned Planet
Venidelosia suggests this planet that is further out and in a different direction due to the fact that it is recorded as being a research facility that she was previously assigned to when she was not yet aware. She has no records of what the planet itself is like, or if the planet is suitable to landing on. What she knows is that there are suggestions in her files that there may be a repository of information from her original builders at the location. What could that mean? It's up to you to investigate!

What she cannot tell you but is relevant for your OOC decision making is that this is a dead and haunted world. If you'd like your spookiness to come early this year join us in investigating what haunts an old research base.

A Warring Landscape
One other vein of investigation that Venidelosia suggests as a path forward is investigating what she has been told of the Warrens area. The metal there is far too durable for her to understand, but she thinks she might have a lead on the source of it. Perhaps that will help uncover more secrets? This is the furthest of the journeys and she knows little of what the He Rows will find here, other than what might be the source of a useful resource in a metal so durable it has a hard time being cut by aught but itself. Will you set forth to try and gather some yourself? And just what leads to it being so strong?

What she cannot tell you but is relevant for your OOC decision making is that the surface of this planet is at war: a Mecha war. Venture down to the surface, discover the source of the metal, and join up with one companion in a mind and memory sharing experience as you learn secrets about each other and possibly about Agra-10 that might never imagined. All while possibly co-piloting your own Mech!

As players may have noticed an momentous day has finally been reached in The Revival Project. For the first time in the tenure of the game, and for a long time before it, Agrii have set their feet upon the surface of Agra-10. He Rows will of course be invited to the arrival ceremony, and now have a chance to interact with a lot of different NPC characters, as well as help them settle in. But there's more going on than that, because very soon He Rows will be taking their own steps of adventure, and they'll want to prepare for that to. So let's talk about this month's event!

New Horizons FAQ

You know where we start. Event Dates?
The Agrii will be arriving the evening of April 9th, while Venidelosia’s message will arrive early in the day on April 10th. According to her message, He Rows returning to their Ships for departure will be May 1st and news about transit will be posted after that.

What about the ‘voting for destination’ thing? What are the choices?
That’s actually going to depend pretty heavily on you, the players. In the next few days another OOC post is going to go up serving as our first ‘pitch us planets’ post. In it we’re going to encourage you to share your general ideas of places you would like to see. Please don’t give us your characters’ canon planets, those aren’t on the table. Things closely adjacent, or planets of canons not represented in our game that also aren’t Earth, could be pitched. But we’re also ready to welcome some of the most off the wall things you can think of. Trust the mods to find ways to fold these into the way we’re going to keep you entertained. We just can only create so many different settings at a time.

If we find there are three good pitches we can work with, we’ll write up small summaries and leave them to players to vote on anonymously. If we are lucky enough to receive more than just three good pitches, we’ll hold some in reserve for further building and future use. If there are less than three we’ll handwave the winner being either a player suggested one where the player is happy to help us build and perhaps even shape some of your adventure, or to a mod one that we will prepare for you. So the destinations will be as up to player choice as we can manage.

What can we do this month?
Well, first thing first, that whole arrival post was made in the IC community for a reason. You may see that we’ve got comments in there for a few different NPC groups. He Rows will be able to talk to the Plantkin delegation, Mu Ly, Venidelosia, the Twins, random colonist NPCs and… gasp Ny Ak too! Use those comments to start up a situation and we’ll swoop in to make sure you get some fun interacting with them. Many of these characters are moving in (not Ny Ak) so they’ll have questions, need help, and be ready to start learning! Consider this your most personal connection with any Agrii yet most likely, because you’re helping them start to build a world.

In addition you can take Venidelosia up on her request for specific consultations. She is going to need some people to help her finalize her submissions to your journey. You don’t want the portal systems blowing up or to have the copied version of her that will be going on your ships undermining you with glitches, right? So for people with different datapoints, there’s still a lot of important stuff to do, like handling food, creating production facilities, preparing for medical needs, and maybe even making and stowing away weapons, food, clothes, and other resources. You don’t know what you’re going to need in space, right? And who knows if you’ll even find people to trade with. Actually, things to trade might be good too…

Beyond that players might wish to try and convince some NPCs to join them on their quest. Wouldn’t it be interesting to try? At the moment He Rows will only have Venidelosia herself on the journey with them. Whether others join them or not is entirely up to characters wooing Plantkin or Agrii to their cause. The only exceptions guaranteed not to go are the faction leaders, the Blue Twins, and the Wanderer. Anyone else, old or new NPC, is possibly up for adventure if you pitch it right. We will, though, require attempts to convince NPCs to be made in threads.

Are we really just leaving Agra-10 behind?
For a while. Players should expect a return to Agra-10 in June or July, depending on how well or poorly adventures go. There will be some time on the planet before the next round of space exploration. This will be our new format going forward: space time, return to the planet for some event, an off month for planet and shipside player plots, and then returning to space. How fast or slow that ends up being will vary.

My character was one of those not interested in leaving the Agrii here alone. What about them?
Sorry, but sometimes you have to let the chicks leave the nest, and it seems like they’ve come to a good agreement with the Plantkin for now. Consider this month a good way to start getting the Agrii used to what their lives are going to be like here, get to know them some and guide them, and then give them a chance to make their own mistakes. Have faith in them.

When we leave is the Agrii ship going with us?
Nope. The Agrii as a whole mostly want to stay here. They are tired of wandering when home might be so close, even if they don’t all know it’s not theirs. The Agrii ship will thus be staying for a few reasons. One: to provide shelter should storms come. Two: to provide supplies if the surface Agrii blow it. Three: to allow more Agrii to go down to the surface if they find things are going well. In fact, once the He Rows leave the hangar will be quite clear for the Agrii to use the old ships in their own Hangar Bay to shuttle to and from the planet at need.

Um, what was up with how Ny Ak spoke?
Now that might be a question worth asking him, wouldn’t it? c3)

Hey, I wanted to ask a specific question about all of this.
Awesome! We want to hear it! Please direct all of your questions to the appropriate comment below. Also, you want to talk to an NPC not noted specifically on the event post, please let us know there too. You can also feel free to use this post for plotting. Whatever works best for you.

Finally, and this is important. Please just give a round of applause to our new support staff. Some members of our wonderful community have stepped up to help the mods through a hard time and we really appreciate them. Without their time and efforts this event may not have been presented to you as smoothly as we might have wanted. This month was a little trial by fire for us all.

Preparing For The Road Ahead

Suggestions were put forth. Information was shared. A quiet means of weighing in was offered after He Rows took a chance to publicly comment on what they thought was the best choice going forth. And so the answer finally came, a decision settled upon.

Which means it’s time for action on a few fronts. Thankfully some guidance was quick to come once all of the He Rows relayed their decision up to the ship itself. Venidelosia, or Losia to anyone who was not Tony Stark, had been silent for a few hours before at last sending back a message.

A Time of Parting

Like a relationship status with an on-again off-again significant other one could easily describe the situation with the Agrii in two words: ‘it’s complicated’. Which of course serves no one as well as it should. The Orange-Faction is still angry, Mu Ly still seems on a tightly held leash, the other leaders still seem at a loss for understanding, and Ny Ak remains in their comatose state. Even meeting with He Rows on the ‘neutral ground’ of one of the He Row ships only manages to reach one consistently agreed upon point with the Agrii.

It is time for the He Rows to leave.

But Is It Really Goodbye? )
[personal profile] trpmods
Alright all.

You've had some time to look over the January event and learn the sorts of tensions that have been boiling up among the Agrii. So now the question comes to the fore.

What do you do about it?

The decisions players make in the face of what has passed will affect the future arcs of the game. So we encourage players to take the time here to share the information their characters learned, discuss the meaning of it in relationship to what was learned from November's event, and discuss what path they want to take.

At the moment the Mods see three possible actions for the players to take. That does not mean these are all of the options, and we will respect whatever the majority of the players choose. There will be a poll post put up later this week to help resolve the question. But for now we see these options:

1. Resettle Agrii on Agra-10. This would require the storms tapering off a bit more and then bringing Agrii down in phases. He Rows would have to help make the city more suitable for their use and teach them how to work together as a society. This may also require making peace between them and various plantkin species.

2. Investigate whether the Agrii are from another place entirely. Information gained in November seems to imply that the Agrii population was moved to this planet rather than being native. If so, He Rows could potentially see about finding their true origins to help decide what the proper long term answer may be.

3. Give the Agrii all of the information you have gathered and ask them to make the choice. He Rows have gained a lot of information about the Agrii and their history with Agra-10. About how they were brought here, about how they were trained to serve a relatively unknown purpose, about how their food is being laced with sedatives, about a lot of things really. There is always the option of presenting all of this to the Agrii people and seeing what they want to do with what you have learned. Of course one does not know with their recent violence how this might play out.

4. Kick the metaphorical can down the road. This is the 'wait and see' method. Basically He Rows do what they can to resolve current tensions, then set about their own purposes. For those who don't really know what would be best or who maybe want more data before deciding anything.

Please use this post (and only this post, we want all players to have access no matter where they normally gather) to discuss a) what information your characters have found, b) their IC opinion on what they would want, and c) your OOC opinion on what you'd like.

We want to make player desire an important part of this, and if the majority of in character opinions want one option but the majority of out of character opinions want another, we'll find a way to defer to the OOC choice because that will always be 1 player 1 vote as opposed to potentially being weighted toward players with more characters.

Also, we are very happy to welcome player ideas for other methods their characters would put forth to resolve the issue. You're creative people, and you or your characters may think of angles we were not prepared for but would be happy to facilitate.

Good Day, He Rows, and please, discuss.

Of Stowaways And Strife

Well, looks like this year is rolling in for the Agrii and He Rows alike with a bang! As is seen in the special event part two Mingle Post, a lot happens starting on the 15th. The Wanderer has joined the party, upsetting the Agrii who don’t understand it. Violence has truly broken out on the ship, and the He Rows may be the only ones able to restore order.

The question is, have you the will, the skill, and perhaps even the knowledge to restore something resembling peace? Because there’s no way you can just leave the Agrii ship without getting things a bit more stable here. Why? Because the Ship’s AI has put a control lock down on the Glitter Food and the Peanut Party. No returning to atmosphere for you until some sort of peace has been reached.

So it’s up to the He Rows to step in, deal with emergencies as they crop up, and restore order. Or, you know, make it worse. We don’t doubt that some He Rows are more than capable of turning things in that direction if it really moves them to do so. And with just how many directions things are being pulled in, who knows what people can get away with right now.

What is clear is that the factions are alive and well, there is violence breaking out, someone’s releasing the perpetrators (because do we even know of Agrii who could override ship commands), and on top of it all, the Wanderer is walking merrily through it all of it taking notes. It’s learning so much about Speaking Animals right now.

But that’s the situation as it stands. Time for the He Rows to act. Well, it seems like reacting might be the first order of business, but they’ve clearly got to act as well if they ever want of this ship.

Lets get to the FAQ )

No Tick Like New Tick

Some years go out with a whimper. Some go out with a fire in an older and relatively unused building that was set to try and finally reward the diligent efforts of some horror movie aficionados.

Let it never be said that some He Rows don’t know how to celebrate New Tick in new and exciting ways.

Thankfully not everyday is so exciting, though as the yearly Solar Cycle, as reckoned by the Agrii, winds to an end there is something that everyone should be expecting. The Agrii have been inflicting it on He Rows, for good or for ill, for a number of years now after all. In the coldest part of the year, or ‘Tick’ as Agrii reckon it, rolls over and it is a time of celebration. Enforced celebration perhaps, but still a celebration nonetheless.

This year the Agrii are kind enough to give three days of prior warning. It comes in the form of a text message sent to all Network connected devices, an annoying sort that comes with repeated pings every few minutes until each user opens the message to read it.

Just another reminder (and not the last either), that New Tick is approaching and you will have until December 31st to submit your request lists for your characters.

Don't forget to drop your requests on the page! We want all characters to get a New Tick gift, and all players to have fun with them.

And as a second reminder: the character doesn't have to like the gift. It just has to be something you as a player want for them that fits the rules. Have fun with that knowledge!

Mod Churby Note: My apologies for how late this is. Things got complicated.

An End to Storms?

Slowly but surely exploration teams filter back to the safe area of the Warrens where their companions await. They have been on their quests, they have seen systems shut down or destroyed. Their actions may provoke hope, or may have left destruction in their wake. In the hands of each successful party rests a small device. More information is the hope. Answers to the storms, or to the Agrii, or who knows what.

A bit after the exploration teams the first crew returns. They have seen things. Learned things. And hopefully they have achieved one of the core tasks that He Rows have had before them since the first day they set foot upon Agra-10. There is a chance that the storms might end now. Perhaps just as importantly, they return with a Smooolsher down a few charges, a large machine disabled, and a device that will enable them to read the smaller devices brought back by the other teams.

Now all that needs to happen is a decoding.

Good thing the He Rows have a lot of spare time while they wait for the Wanderkin and the other Plantkin to announce that travel back to the surface is safe. All it takes is time and the work of the Communications He Rows.

And oh, the information you learn.

So a new set of questions might arise in He Rows. A new realization that, quite possibly, the best way you can help the Agrii isn't by following their wills. But do you really wish to ignore their desires? What is the best path going forward? Surely the He Rows will need to work together to figure out just what their future goals in regards to the Agrii should be.

Then, at long last, almost a month after heading into the Warrens, the news comes. The Wanderer returns amid many dancing Funfronds with news. The storm at the surface has diminished. It flickers and fades, the creatures it woke melting back into the dirt and mud they seemed to awaken from. Already snow begins to fall upon the surface, and there is safety to be had there once more. The Wanderer offers to guide He Rows back to the surface, but conveys for the Funfronds that the Warrens will remain accessible to them from now on. They will always have shelter among the little ones. All that is asked is that He Rows avoid the Warrens during the autumn of every third year, as this is the sporing time, and the elder Funfronds and their new sprouts need the space then. Allowing them the space this year was a unique allowance and made the sporing Funfronds nervous.

As warned, upon returning to the mines and then the surface, Temba is colder now. There is a layer of dirt and dust and mud over many places that the prior zombies were around, so cleaning is going to be needed. But otherwise the city is once more the domain of the He Rows for the passage of the winter. The Wanderkin itself wanders off toward the greenhouse, no doubt seeking some place warm to pass its winter as it continues to study the culture of the He Rows.

Winter will be a slow and quiet thing, with nothing more than standard snow. It falls and builds up in mounds and banks. The snow clearing droids return from wherever they went into hiding at the end of last winter, and the city streets and paths are cleared. This might well be the most peaceful winter any He Row has seen in Temba. At least for now. After all, there should be no more storms, right?

Take the free time you have, snuggle up with some warmth, and prepare for what you know is coming next. New Tick approaches and the Agrii like to force festiveness upon you. Though maybe if you want your gifts you might not want to debate with the Agrii over the future until after you've gotten them.

Good News Everybody!

We've got a favorite event returning in January to celebrate the passing of time. The Agrii have been quite glad with how New Tick went in previous years, and they do have intentions on it again this year. So why, you ask, do we tell you this in November? Because part of their tradition will involve a special treat for all characters in the game.

Every character will be receiving a gift from the Agrii again! Planning for our Fourth Annual New Tick is still in progress so we don't know what the event will look like in full, but gifts will still be part of it.

For those who are newer to TRP you'll be glad to know your gifts aren't like the chocolates or snow globes or anything else that Agrii sometimes offer. No, these are gifts of the sort of caliber as what people are normally awarded for referring a new person to the game! There are rules, of course, and just like with a referral prize, all requests are subject to approval from the mods. Because of this we wanted to give everyone time to come up with what they might want so we have time to review requests.

So let's talk about how this is going to work.

Once More Into The Depths

The zombies have not even begun to let up when a voice comes in amid the clamor around and behind the barricade. It rattles like bare branches whipped around in a powerful storm. A voice that some may know from soft conversation, and others from a potentially awkward trip to the mines.

Of course it leaves the question of how the Wanderkin got back here. Last anyone remembered it had headed back out into Temba, and no one had seen it come back over the barricade. But there it was, calling out.

“Come, friends. The littlekin are ready for you. The storm grows more powerful above. There is no more time.”

The one thing that always is and always has been true of storms on Agra-10 it is this: over time they grow weaker. Those who are patient can hole themselves up and trust that the storm would either end abruptly, or start to diminish. This has been especially true as one approached the three week mark.

At least all of that was true until now.

Today the storm does not start to show signs of fading away. Nor does it hold steady. Instead at a time one with a particularly sharp internal clock might describe as approaching early evening something very different happens. Something worse.

Being a He Row on Agra-10 means life has a lot to it that isn’t certain. Who knows when the people you have come to know are going to leave, or when new people are going to come into the picture. Are those you are surrounded with the sort to become your best friend, your lover, or your most deeply held enemy? Would the greatest dangers you face end up being animals or monsters, the powers that hold sway beyond your ability to lash out at, or perhaps do they come from nature itself?

At least on that last matter new advances have been made, thanks to the forging of new bonds with the Agrii as well as new programs tunneled into their systems. Think of it like a specialized form of weather tracking satellites, created by the sensor suite on a ship well beyond your current reach. It picks up the tell tale signs of approaching danger in the form of an energy storm, and two systems launch into activity. First of those is something that those who may have pried into the Agrii computer systems may have learned: the Agrii Ship begins to move to a safe distance. The second thing is relatively new, and resultant from a deep bond forged between two young people.

So, on the morning of June 11th, a general message triggers on all He Rows communication devices. It’s audio, and this time it isn’t the familiar tones of Ga Re. This time it is a nervous voice. A child’s voice.

All good things must come to an end, and so too must your time at NG-102. Whether each He Row saw the spaceport as something good or not is up to them, but what remains is the fact that it is time to go. So late on the evening of the 28th, or perhaps very early on the morning of the 29th it’s time to get things moving. Pilot-captains should round up their crews, perhaps send their security companions to collect people from the holding cells or drag them from bars or stores. Medics should oversee the final wave of returning decontamination showers while the Comms specialists make sure that any final ties the He Row’s network have to the spaceport are disentangled. The Agricultural agents should be checking over their new plants and herd animals in the cargo bay for transit, and perhaps the Engineers should make sure the all important parts are carefully stored away.

No matter what you do, though, it is time to leave. To return to the Agrii and solve their problem, perhaps figure out the cause, and possibly return to Agra-10. Do your shipboard duties that you’ve found for yourselves, or return to your rooms or those of friends to drink, or just make yourself busy however you want. The pilots will no doubt be busy switching shifts as they disengage their vessels and head back to the point in space that they are meant to make it to for the portal. They have just over a day of travel, and it would be good to get there in a timely manner.

Thankfully the portal does reappear on time, though it looks more unstable than it did before. It flickers and stutters at the edges, and almost as soon as it opens it starts to contract. There isn’t much time before you’re stranded out here in space, so better get your things in order and punch it through.

There’s some good news though. The Agrii ship still seems to be where you left it. There still seem to be signs of life. It’s still functioning. Apparently the emergency repairs have held. But who knows how much longer that can be expected to stay true. Perhaps it’s time to load the shuttles and rush back over to see what’s going on.

And oh boy has it been going on )

First, yes, you can expect your proper event update into the final part later this week. This is not that. This is to apologize for an oversight in our FAQ on Part Two and to clarify an important detail.

Per a specific question we realized that something important was left off of the FAQ that will affect characters both in the event and after it, so we're clearing that up now we hope.
