Sometimes it's hard to get two characters together. Sometimes you realize you're months into a game together and your characters never formally had a thread but surely they must know each other by now, right? Maybe they see each other on a morning jog or an evening stroll. Maybe they frequently work together or just try to hang out once a week. Maybe something else.

This meme is meant to highlight all those little daily routine things that our characters get up to. Part handwaved CR, part mental organization, this is simply to help smooth some of those questions of figuring out how our characters know each other and get right to the good stuff of making threading together easier.

So be kind, have fun, and when in doubt wave those hands in the air like you just don't care.

TRIAL BY FIRE

A POWER SWAP MEME

Your powers aren't working. Your powers aren't working, and suddenly you find that you can do something else entirely. And you're going to have to figure out this new set of skills very fast, because something has gone terribly wrong.

NEW BLOOD/Action! Someone new has appeared at the fountain, and they've taken this as an opportunity to cause chaos. The hotel is already on fire, and they're dragging a hostage away into the greenhouse to find out what else is flammable.

FRESH MEAT/Creeps! The sun has started to set earlier than you're used to, so when you disembark the train to Sh'Ka, it's already eerily dark. Something is moving in the bushes, whispering and slithering near the ground. The smell of rot is growing stronger.

OLD BONES/SOL! Today is finally the day that you're making this place comfortable, so you're going to have to drag that couch all the way from the department store, maybe even up the impossibly tall stairs. And when that's all done, you've commited to cooking a meal to bribe someone to help you. And then someone's going to have to clean this mess up.

WILDCARD Live your best life.

WHAT TO DO

1. Post a toplevel detailing your character's power set. Include any fun, weird quirks, or details only an experienced user would know so that someone else can be inflicted with them!

2. Anyone who toplevels is fair game--you don't have to 1:1 swap powers with the person that you're tagging, so your thread partner may be just as baffled as you are.

3. Pick a scenario, or make your own for maximum chaos!

EARTH-1700

a golden age of piracy
Time for a piratey AU! 

It's the golden age of piracy, and you've found yourself on a boat. Either doing some of that pirating, trying to catch those dastardly pirates, or feasting on unwitting sailors who were lured by your siren song. Figure out what it is, quick, because here come some scenarios!

1.Man the guns!
Your ship is under attack! Or...you're doing the attacking! Either way, you've got your weapon in hand, something is on fire, and we're definitely taking on water. Avast, ruffians!

2. Booty!
You've got yourself a map with a big X on it, your trusty shovel, and a dream. Will you find a chest of gold, or just a cave full of snakes? Or maybe you have your own treasures that need burying, with the king's men hot on your heels...

3. Swab the deck!
Day to day life aboard the ship can be its own adventure. There's sails to man and anchors to weigh and the food is running out and actually the last of the beer just fell overboard...

4. Marooned!
Your seafaring has gone absolutely sideways, and either you've run aground, or been cast off the ship for your crimes. Now you're faced with a deserted island, and have to survive! 

Post with your character and some idea of their high seas alternate life. It doesn't have to be historically accurate, and can definitely be fantastical.

Find a crew and climb aboard!

Typical activities: Where they can typically be found on a normal day, where they might be run into or you can claim you might have seen each other around at some point. This is a good handwavey opportunity, if you're not into small talk, or an easy point of connection!

Character themes: What's going to come up most often in a thread with this character, that you want to explore? This might also be a good time to remind/warn everyone of the darker stuff they could be getting into.

Ongoing: Where is your character right now? What are they working on? What kind of connections have they made?
Future: What would you like your character to be doing? Do you have some nefarious plans you're trying to put a squad together for? Do you have some development you're trying to reach?

CR You Want: Friends, romance, enemies, mentors, hilarious misunderstanding hijinks. 
CR You Don't Want: Really only interested in a happy friendship or want Tony to stop flirting with you for god's sake? Lay it out.

FOUND FAMILY

A DOMESTIC SOL MEME

Things have been a little intense around here lately. How about a chance to just chill out and take care of the house?
Leave this wasteland for the day and settle down somewhere a little more homey with your pals. This could mean a straightforward modern Earth situation, or something more familiar to you characters to AU together, wherever you find your fun. Have a chat and expand your family, or jump right in to see what kind of home grows up around you!

WHAT TO DO

Kitchen: Get cooking together. Try a lavish meal, a midnight snack, or a new pastry recipe you've been preparing for!
Living Room: It's game night! This always ends in tears, why do we keep doing it? For the glory. And the beer.
Washroom: Do the chores. Just do it. The longer you put it off, the longer it will take.
Study: Run some errands. Do the grocery shopping, pick up the dry cleaning, bring the kids their lunch because they forgot it at home again, and forget the ice cream in the car.
Basement: Family secrets. Its dark down here and there might be skeletons. What's your family's weird thing that you've been keeping from the rest of the world? Why are you just finding out now?
Bedroom: Date night. You finally get a chance to get away from each other. Hopefully, the kids at home aren't getting into trouble...

HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARTY
Everybody! Time to rock your body! 

You've been invited to the social event of the season: a Halloween costume party at Hill House, the city's most storied mansion, overlooking its expansive acres of deep woods. Rumour is, the erstwhile, opulent and late owners woke up one night and walked straight into the lake in the garden, hand in hand. There's no better place to get a Halloween thrill.

1.Get trashed
This is a classic, normal party, with spiked punch and a costume contest, and all of the treats you could possibly enjoy. Dance, explore the mansion, stuff your face. 

2. Get monster mashed
This seemed like a normal party, up until someone suddenly couldn't open the doors and a grand, old clock struck a haunting midnight. Suddenly, your skin is itching, and it's like this costume just...won't...come...off. Whatever you were wearing, I hope you're ready to make a lifetime commitment.

3. Get graveyard smashed
As soon as the door closes behind you, you can hear it lock, and the whole house goes dark. There's no treats at this party, only tricks! Defeat the ghosts, survive the night, and maybe the house will let you out.

CR Memes can be stressful. There's so many words going on, so many players and characters that might be worth engaging with, and sometimes you show up a day late and it feels like a lot to process through. But what if it was easier to tell at a glance who might fit well with your own tagging desires? Have you been yearning for some rivals or maybe a new friend? Is it just that you want Angst really bad right now?

Well then we have a question for you: how do you like jars?

Fill the Jars is a visual CR Meme, meant to allow players to see, at a glance, what sorts of things other players are looking for with their characters. It's simple to do too. Open up the above image in any photo processor, fill the jar with color to a level you feel speaks to how much you like the tropes in question, and then share it here under a header for your character. Then look at other characters' jars and see what works with yours!

Remember, images can be posted with [img src="link"] (Replace the [ and ] with < and > to get it to work). Good places to host images are through plurk (private messages to yourself only are great), or sharing them through discord and copying the link for it.
