To be honest, this announcement could have been a whole hell of a lot longer. But damn, none of us need that right now, am I right?

Simply put we're changing AC to Check In Only until further notice. Those who take strikes will still have to submit standard AC on the striked character to clear said strike. Otherwise please just check in during the check in window.

Our AC Assistant will continue doing their wonderful work and helping out, and the mod team will still strive to bring the best content we can. But given all that is going on in the world, we want RPing to not feel like work/a quota/a stress when there's plenty of that elsewhere in lives.

During this time period players who wish for additional characters past three will only need to give the mods a heads up and to have no strikes through the last two months. Hiatuses still work like normal.

Game pages will be updated to reflect this notice hopefully by the end of the week.

Finally, no reversion back to standard AC system will occur without two months of forewarning. We don't want to blindside anyone.

Thank you for sticking with us. Look forward to a small event in July and something bigger and fantastic in August.

All Alone In The Night: Conclusions

Answers start to fall into place slowly but surely. First comes that data from the space station, which ultimately was the goal of the whole expedition. With some analysis from semi-purged databanks, paired with some specialized insight from a certain Jedi, one thing because clear. Yes, this place was once used by whatever people (likely the Atroma) created Venidelosia and trained the Agrii. But there was something more than that. A possible reason for what the He Rows have been experiencing.

Sure, the data returns information that this was the base Venidelosia was built at, and that there were experiments related to the energy creatures on the planet’s surface, but it’s also clear that much of that was abandoned. Research pivoted instead to the ‘singing star’ cores that were used later among the Drift Fleet, things that would later serve as the center of sentient ships that were more like being manifesting upon their own evolutionary path, with their own wills and desires. But the original purpose of research here was for the study of ‘inferior’ species that the Atroma were encountering. Biological species specifically.

Ultimately the pulling up metaphorical stakes had some repercussions. As Cal came to sense, there was a section of discontented researchers, who did not like the pivot. Perhaps this caused a rift, especially since it’s very clear that some of the research done here, for there is clearly research on the storm elementals and how their biology could be replicated to interesting effect elsewhere, was taken from this place. Taken by angry, spiteful Atroma who intended to prove themselves better than their fellows. Who wanted to prove a point.

Searching on the surface has its own rewards. There were plenty of parts available to repair shuttles to get them airborne again. That in and of itself was a valuable success. But there was also much to be seen of the state of the planet itself. Dead, dessicated, broken. And, it becomes obvious as the underground facility is reached and inspected, a lot of that comes back to the native energy beings. Their distaste for technology has been made rather clear. That said, gear for advanced shielding from similar attacks was found and brought back. Reverse engineering that to harden already available technology seems quite promising and interesting to pursue.

As for the haunting…

Turns out the attempt to purge Venidelosia’s systems of malicious code was not quite as successful as one might have hoped. Veda, in her desire to better interface with her He Row companions had been working on a manner of holographic projection for herself, and during downcycles the malicious code in the system was making its own form of havok. Pulling the in progress system up along with He Row’s records, playing with the He Row Emergency Recovery And Supply System (used for Soup Lies and life saving purposes), and messing with atmospheric controls. Which was just bundles of fun for everyone!

Thankfully the hard work of He Rows in investigating led to discovery of the problem and working with Veda to quarantine the non-essential programs for the return trip, so that a more full diagnostic and repair cycle could happen upon return to Agra-10. Which of course is the matter of the day.

Transit back is peaceful enough, and perhaps all too soon (or not soon enough for some), the ships once more orbit Agra-10, here at the start of a beautiful summer season. Which of course means time to head back down to the planet with your new information to analyze it further and make new plans with Veda and Venidelosia as to where your next journey should be. Oh, and of course, to figure out how your new Agrii settlers are doing with their Plantkin guides.

Thankfully things seem pretty positive on that front. Summers have been brutal on the planet in the past, but thankfully that is not true this year on Agra-10. Sure, it's hot, sure it's sunny, and sure it's a bit dry, but hey, it's pleasant this year. Perhaps it's because in the month you’ve been away, the city has become quite green. Around the city the Agrii settlers move around happily with their Plantkin guides and teachers, planting plenty of shade plants around the edges of buildings, or digging up areas to turn into ponds or other water features. In a way the place is turning into a beautiful sort of get away. If you ignore all of the broken and falling buildings around the ruins of the former city that is.

There's a bit more comfort available to be had on the top of the Civics Center or at the edge of the remains of the Flooded Plain. Here the Agrii have clearly focused their work more heavily. Comfortable chairs from the Agrii ship have been brought down, there is a wealth of things to dry off with, and often trays of food laid out. New sources of water to frolic in are clearly not going to be passed up by this semi-aquatic race. It isn't uncommon to see them splashing around or to see pink and purple forms diving into the great depths of any bit of water they can get themselves to.

For those looking for a bit less of a crowded place to enjoy the summer heat, there is always the beach south of Temba. Given it's summer the green lobsters are away from the beach and in the watery depths. Of course settling down here to enjoy the cool sea waters can be its own form of frustrating. After all, there are still the Birbs to deal with. They're more mischievous than even the brightest Corvid. They will steal just about anything they can carry away if you aren't careful.

Then, of course, there is Sh'Ka. The other city, having been forbidden to the Agrii by the local Plantkin, remains hot, dry, and unpleasant. Thankfully there's plenty of places to beat the heat once you're off the connecting train and waiting for a trip back. The stone buildings actually manage to keep the heat out pretty good, and there's also a lot of shade under the large stone trees. But maybe it isn't wise to hang out under the trees, as the local Deleon population is in herding part of the year. It is rare for them to gather as a herd, but when they do it's to protect their young. This makes them way more riled up and likely to attack anything they deem as a threat.

Your local Plantkin friends seem to be doing well, and a small group of Agrii, including Mu Ly and the translator twins will be present to greet the He Rows upon their return. Actually, the Wanderer will be there too, with a little change in their own appearance. It seems like they are going to have a bit of bud! There is green on the tips of many of its stems and twigs and it’s getting a shaggy look to it. Often Funfrond sproutlings are visible playing on and over its form, or bedecking it in moss or flowers. And, strangely enough, the Wanderer seems very at ease with this behavior.

While Mu Ly will speak at length about how good the Agrii are doing, those who are observant might notice the Wanderer has picked up a new He Row mannerism: rolling the glowing pits of its ‘eyes’. Maybe it doesn’t agree with how well the Agrii are doing on their own. But there will always be chances to isolate it, or other Agrii, to find out.

The Hotel area will prove to be very busy, with one of the first floor areas having been cleared out and converted into a dining area more to the style the Agrii are used to. Nothing of the calm diner environment the He Rows may be used to. No, it’s cafeteria style seating and the chaotic sort of kitchen the Agrii used on their own ship when they weren’t eating from food dispensers. And clearly the Agrii here are not making use of those. Though, interestingly enough, the heightened aggressive tendencies seem to have settled.

Or maybe just found a ‘better’ outlet. There is definitely no end to the options of meat, poultry, or fish heavy dishes in the Agrii kitchen, even if they aren’t cooked in what is always the most attractive manner. At least the Agrii are good at gathering their discarded waste and moving it to places for the Funfronds to access, as they had agreed to do. So it seems like things are going okay enough for now.

Though perhaps those He Rows living in the Hotel may be bothered to find out just how many new neighbors they have, given a second group of Agrii, all without faction sashes, have clearly come down to check out the potential of the ruined city.

Time for a Vote! We've got some planet ideas below for our first stop. We're going to be doing this by ranked choice voting. Let us know in the comment thread below what your preference is using the provided form! Please see Venidelosia's brief descriptions of potential planets to visit as your first investigative stop

A Watery Adventure
Knowing that the Agrii are evolved in some highly aquatic environment, Venidelosia puts forth a relatively nearby star system she is aware of that her records indicate to be a planet with a high percentage of surface oceans. Her records on the planet are damaged, but they indicate that the Agrii's ancestors may have been collected relatively near this system. She is aware of there being floating cities, which may be useful for gathering information.

What she cannot tell you but is relevant for your OOC decision making is that here there be pirates! Join us on a swashbuckling adventure with this watery planet!

An Abandoned Planet
Venidelosia suggests this planet that is further out and in a different direction due to the fact that it is recorded as being a research facility that she was previously assigned to when she was not yet aware. She has no records of what the planet itself is like, or if the planet is suitable to landing on. What she knows is that there are suggestions in her files that there may be a repository of information from her original builders at the location. What could that mean? It's up to you to investigate!

What she cannot tell you but is relevant for your OOC decision making is that this is a dead and haunted world. If you'd like your spookiness to come early this year join us in investigating what haunts an old research base.

A Warring Landscape
One other vein of investigation that Venidelosia suggests as a path forward is investigating what she has been told of the Warrens area. The metal there is far too durable for her to understand, but she thinks she might have a lead on the source of it. Perhaps that will help uncover more secrets? This is the furthest of the journeys and she knows little of what the He Rows will find here, other than what might be the source of a useful resource in a metal so durable it has a hard time being cut by aught but itself. Will you set forth to try and gather some yourself? And just what leads to it being so strong?

What she cannot tell you but is relevant for your OOC decision making is that the surface of this planet is at war: a Mecha war. Venture down to the surface, discover the source of the metal, and join up with one companion in a mind and memory sharing experience as you learn secrets about each other and possibly about Agra-10 that might never imagined. All while possibly co-piloting your own Mech!

Hello all!

First and foremost, as ever, the mod team just wants to extend its thank you to everyone who is part of our community. You are what makes The Revival Project the source of fun and adventure we enjoy creating for you.

That said sometimes things get tough, and the level of work any of us can invest can get a bit constrained. This is just as true for your mod team. Over the years we have worked hard to support each other behind the scenes to make sure that the game can flow as smoothly as possible for our players. However due to a variety of circumstances a lot of things have gotten hard for the mod team. For their privacy we will not be getting into those troubles here, but know they still want to provide you with the best experience possible.

With all votes accounted for, let's talk about the general shape of the results. Provided Mod Churby doesn't come down with some horrid illness before finishing revisions, you'll have a post going up later today or early tomorrow.

Results Discussion

Players were torn on whether to head into space to find where the Agrii come from, or to attempt that while also trying to let the Agrii try out living on the planet surface as well. There was an even split with one clearly stated abstention.

To make the final decision we decided to look to the IC results, to see where characters might have differing opinions. When we looked at the voting habits of characters (and just did an 'averaging' of a vote from players with multiple characters), most operated under the decision that the Agrii should be given a chance to try the surface, provided the plantkin agree.

Given this we have decided to take the route of OOC option 3: space exploration but with attempts to make Agra-10 suitable for the Agrii just in case. Given the push of many players for 'space is fun' we will weigh more heavily toward space adventures, returning to the planet every few months to do more work, check in on the Agrii, and complete quests/work there. These planetary months will be part 'player created event' time, and part 'here are some side quests for you to get up to, and some problems to solve with the whole project'.

Hopefully this creates the best of both worlds and will still give you hooks in the 'off' months to get caught up in.

Finally, characters were rather torn between telling the Agrii all of the truth and some of the truth. As such the decision is that we will be going with for now is that the full truth will be told to the leaders of the Agrii and have their opinion weighed before proceeding. This of course does not prevent characters from dropping the secrets anyway, but it will be assumed those are held in reserve for a few days.

More will be shared in the event post later today.

Thank you for helping us shape the game going forth. A new version of our calendar will be created in the coming days to let you know when we anticipate space exploration months versus planetary work months. We would encourage players to let us know what kinds of worlds they would like to see, though as a note we will not be returning to any previously explored canon-based systems. Use the comments below to offer suggestions. But assume we know nothing about the setting. If there isn't a hefty bit of information line (like fanwikis), it will be harder for us to adapt and make use of a setting. Also, there will be no direct Earth uses, though if there are concepts based on Earth you like, we might be able to get away with adapting some concepts to other worlds/settings.

One more thank you to our players for being so great and sticking with us so long. We hope you enjoy Phase 3 of The Revival Project as we move more into space and uncovering the last lingering secrets on this journey.

A Time of Parting

Like a relationship status with an on-again off-again significant other one could easily describe the situation with the Agrii in two words: ‘it’s complicated’. Which of course serves no one as well as it should. The Orange-Faction is still angry, Mu Ly still seems on a tightly held leash, the other leaders still seem at a loss for understanding, and Ny Ak remains in their comatose state. Even meeting with He Rows on the ‘neutral ground’ of one of the He Row ships only manages to reach one consistently agreed upon point with the Agrii.

It is time for the He Rows to leave.

But Is It Really Goodbye? )
[personal profile] trpmods
Alright all.

You've had some time to look over the January event and learn the sorts of tensions that have been boiling up among the Agrii. So now the question comes to the fore.

What do you do about it?

The decisions players make in the face of what has passed will affect the future arcs of the game. So we encourage players to take the time here to share the information their characters learned, discuss the meaning of it in relationship to what was learned from November's event, and discuss what path they want to take.

At the moment the Mods see three possible actions for the players to take. That does not mean these are all of the options, and we will respect whatever the majority of the players choose. There will be a poll post put up later this week to help resolve the question. But for now we see these options:

1. Resettle Agrii on Agra-10. This would require the storms tapering off a bit more and then bringing Agrii down in phases. He Rows would have to help make the city more suitable for their use and teach them how to work together as a society. This may also require making peace between them and various plantkin species.

2. Investigate whether the Agrii are from another place entirely. Information gained in November seems to imply that the Agrii population was moved to this planet rather than being native. If so, He Rows could potentially see about finding their true origins to help decide what the proper long term answer may be.

3. Give the Agrii all of the information you have gathered and ask them to make the choice. He Rows have gained a lot of information about the Agrii and their history with Agra-10. About how they were brought here, about how they were trained to serve a relatively unknown purpose, about how their food is being laced with sedatives, about a lot of things really. There is always the option of presenting all of this to the Agrii people and seeing what they want to do with what you have learned. Of course one does not know with their recent violence how this might play out.

4. Kick the metaphorical can down the road. This is the 'wait and see' method. Basically He Rows do what they can to resolve current tensions, then set about their own purposes. For those who don't really know what would be best or who maybe want more data before deciding anything.

Please use this post (and only this post, we want all players to have access no matter where they normally gather) to discuss a) what information your characters have found, b) their IC opinion on what they would want, and c) your OOC opinion on what you'd like.

We want to make player desire an important part of this, and if the majority of in character opinions want one option but the majority of out of character opinions want another, we'll find a way to defer to the OOC choice because that will always be 1 player 1 vote as opposed to potentially being weighted toward players with more characters.

Also, we are very happy to welcome player ideas for other methods their characters would put forth to resolve the issue. You're creative people, and you or your characters may think of angles we were not prepared for but would be happy to facilitate.

Good Day, He Rows, and please, discuss.
