TEST DRIVE
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.

- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...

- Is that a chill in the air? It seems to be getting just a little colder, day by day... or maybe it's your imagination? But just in case it's not, you might want to thinking about prepping for what could be winter. Does that mean gathering plants to dry for food? Stockpiling water, or trying to get the power to stay steady in the buildings so you won't freeze (does it even get down to freezing, here - who knows!)? It's up to you!

- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

A group called the Resistance can not possibly fight for nothing. Back on my world when such groups rise they are fighting for freedom. Men are resilient. They will fight for what they believe in even if their future is unknown to them.

I can handle myself in a fight. I'm not worried about dying. Since if I do die it'll be because of my own beliefs and goals.

What is the First Orders purpose?

"Nothing to forgive; you're not even undead," There's an interesting hollow quality to a sigh from inside a metal helm, "We don't talk about the past, really. Most of us can't remember much. I had a friend who talked like he remembered all kinds of things from before the curse. I think... I think he got himself cursed on purpose, somehow. Talk about crazy, right!"

This little speech, which had begun introspective, had by now ramped back up into cheerful. Oh that friend of hers, what a character! What a nut! That's definitely something to chuckle about.

"But if you're asking all this stuff about me, you must be thinking about how much you'd like me to ask you right back. So. Let's hear a story, sorcerer. Tell me about these Undead Nightsisters you were going on about."

"I wonder if it's better off that way, being unable to remember the past." Except as painful as it is, Cal knows that it's important. What's happened in the past is what made him what he is now, good and bad. The bad just tends to haunt you a lot worse.

He refrains from saying as much. Evangeline seems more focused on the present. Maybe that's the best way to go about things after all. Except that right now he feels just as lost as he did five years ago.

The padawan glances at Evangeline, a crooked smile tugging partially at his face. "Well not really- you were the one that said you didn't mind a lot of questions," he points out. "But I guess that's fair. The Nightsisters... to tell you the truth, I don't really know a whole lot about them. From what I heard, they were supposedly wiped out during the war that happened several years ago, but I guess that's not true now that I've seen one."

He remembers the echoes in the Force he'd sensed, the sadness of being the survivor. It resonates with him even now. "Anyway," he continues, shaking his head, "-the Nightsisters use some kind of...dark magick, I guess they called it. I'm not sure how it works, if it's some twisting of the dark side of the Force, but the Nightsister I ran into used it to bring to life the corpses of her dead sisters. She...didn't exactly trust me being there, so I had to outrun a bunch of them." A shrug. "...so my first impression of undead isn't the greatest."

Bucky grimaces. "Yeah, it's... hard to explain." He's not a scientist; but then, maybe that's for the better? A scientist might be even worse at explaining it, given the scientists he's known.

He blows out a breath. "I guess, suffice it to say, we definitely come from different places around here." There. That's... definitely right, at least.

He does smile a little, though, when she thanks him. "Hey. Don't mention it. Sorry you got stuck in there. And - well, if you ever need help again, you just gotta ask. If there isn't fire-retardant foam in your mouth."

He doesn't know what the Rationale is, but he can guess it's clearly a group that does some kind of good. "You don't have to think you owe me. If you're stuck here, too... well. We might run into each other a lot. Maybe you'll even find someone else from your Rationale, but I don't know what it is, so probably no one from my world."

Miles To Go

Everything was all a blur. The last thing he remembered was the Agni Kai. The crazed look on his sister’s face, blasts of fire crashing against each other. Then there was the lightning. He had been prepared for it, until the unthinkable happened. He tried to block it, tried to redirect it away from the intended target, which should have been him. But he hadn’t been in the right stance. The energy having coursed chaotically through his body, burning pain left in its wake when it finally exited.

Cold stone was what awaited him on the ground. He could barely move, and the sounds of battle continued to rage around him. Mind numbed by the pain, he couldn’t tell what was going on. Then there she was, turning him over with worry in her blue eyes. Katara’s face was the last thing he saw before everything faded to black.

Had he died? No, he must have passed out. The feel of cold stone was still on his back as he came to. The searing pain in his stomach was still there, but not as intense. Zuko thought he was still in the palace courtyard as he blinked open his eyes. Managing to sit up, he quickly realized this wasn’t where he had been, and that he was now very much alone. Looking around he saw unfamiliar buildings in ruins. There was no Katara, no Appa, and no Azula. Just a dark, hauntingly empty place. Everything silent until he heard the howl of some strange animal.

Struggling, he managed to get to his feet, his eyes catching sight of a glowing orb. Feeling drawn to it he stumbled over and touched it. A flood of information filling his mind, leaving him dazed once it was done. One arm around his middle he then ducked inside a building. It was cold and he could faintly see his breath as he puffed from the exertion. He was tired and weak but he could move. His mind reeling with unanswered questions, the only thing he could do right now was seek shelter and wait for daylight. Leaning against a wall he raised his hand and created a small flame to give him light. Using it to see as he slowly ventured further into the abandoned building.

Not feeling up to climbing any of the stairs, Zuko wearily trudged across concrete floors littered with broken glass and twisted metal. Eventually he came into a small room where there was a pile of old discarded fabric. Somebody’s dirty laundry pile maybe. It was there that he collapsed. A cloud of dust rising from the pile as he did so. It smelled too, but he didn’t care. It was better than spending the night on the cold hard floor. If someone found him, it would be there, until he would finally wake up the next morning and move on.

COME YOU KNEE KATE

Once Zuko had finally gotten his bearings, he discovered this strange little tablet that had randomly shown up next to him. Never having seen anything like this in his primitive little world, he could only stare at it and the blinking icon before he finally touched it. Eyes going wide as a strange message came from it.

... Okay.

Once that's done, he taps at the other icons, which seem to do absolutely nothing. At least from his perspective. Anyone watching will get an up close and personal view of his face as he squints at the tablet.

"What is this stupid thing supposed to do?"

He shakes it, which might make someone dizzy if they don't look away.

[Immediately the shaking stops, because he recognizes THAT voice too. He blinks a couple times as he stares at the tablet again, now able to see the person on the other end.]

[ It takes a while for her to get from the beach to the square, even though she's practically sprinting the entire way. Seeing Zuko after months away from home is such a relief--one that she could have scarcely imagined feeling not too long ago.

She nearly bowls him over in her enthusiasm, but stops just short of crashing into him. ]

It's really you! I--I've missed you so much!

[ Okay, no, Katara. Don't cry. Do not cry. Be cool. It's only been... five, six months since you've seen your friends? Oops okay, yes. She is crying a bit now. Sorry, Zuko. ]

[True to his word he doesn’t go anywhere. In fact he’s sitting on the side of the fountain when Katara finally arrives. Looking up when she comes running towards him, Zuko’s eyes go wide and he gets up a little too fast, wincing slightly as he does so. But he quickly puts up his hands.]

Katara, wait!

lordhotman: (moar srs time)

[personal profile] lordhotman 2020-01-31 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
[But then she stops and is... is she... crying?

She’s crying.

This is awkward.

Looking away, Zuko rubs the back of his head in said awkwardness.]

Uh, yeah, it’s me. ... I missed you too?

[He then frowns as he realizes how dumb that sounds.]

But we just saw each other. Didn’t we?

[Or was this all just some weird dream he hadn’t woken up from yet? That had to be it.]

Touma mentally debated whether he should disturb the strange guy sleeping on top the decaying pile of fabric. This was the first person Touma managed to encounter since being mysteriously transported to this world. Although he hasn't been here long, the information he received from the white orb and the dilapidated state of the city had left him with the unfortunate conclusion that he was completely alone. He found it hard enough to process the information that been suddenly dumped into his head and accept his current situation, but the emptiness of his new surroundings nearly made his heart break. It dredged up memories he preferred to keep buried deep within the farthest depths of his mind.

So when he stumbled upon the sleeping teen during his aimless wandering, Touma felt a huge weight left from his shoulders. He immediately wanted to wake him up and bombard him with questions, but a particular thought popped into his head that prevented him from calling out to him; what was a teenager like him doing in the ruins of an abandoned city? Was he an orphan who was left behind when the rest of the natives abandoned their home? Although this seemed to be the most likely possibility, their appearance and the state of the building contradicted this. Their clothes showed little sign of wear or age and his body was too athletic for someone living in such terrible conditions. The building, in contrast, was filled with broken glass and undisturbed dust from years of neglect.

The guy clearly didn't live here. What that meant for his current situation was unknown, but he ultimately concluded that continuing to ponder about it wasn't doing him any good. This guy was his only lead in this empty world, for better or worse.

“Hey, sorry to wake you up, but could you help me out? I just need you answer a few questions and I'll be on my way.” The spiky-haired teen shouted, making sure keep his distance on the off chance the person turned out to be hostile.

Anything us slowpokes can do to make that easier? [ She means it. Maybe she should know it given her time around Pietro, but they spent more time snarking at each other (even when on the same teams) in varying levels that it never came up. ]

[See, but she gets it, in a way. From interacting with Pietro she has to GET IT. That it's hard to focus. Does she get it? He doesn't actually know.]

Don't call me impatient? Like, people do that all the time. And don't get in my face about twitching. I do it sometimes to try and keep time with normal people.

Bloodsport - Kitchen

“Can you even call this food?! What kind of sadistic would force people to eat this shit?!”

Touma angrily glared at the strange device he found inside one of spaceships he boarded. The machine was plainly labeled as a 'Protein Dispersing Device' with a touchscreen interface featuring a variety of tantalizing flavors. Out of curiosity and sheer hunger, he had grabbed himself a plate from the cupboard and selected 'Soft-Solid Chicken'. He was soon rewarded with an unappetizing mushy pile of something that resembled tofu.

“There has to be something else here to eat. I refuse to believe a hyper advanced alien race is incapable of surpassing food preservation techniques from the 60s'!” With a determined shout, Touma began to loudly rummage through the kitchen in search of a more edible looking alternative. Or at the very least, a packet of condiments to make his chicken flavored tofu more palatable. Surely the people who supplied this ship were kind enough to at least provide the unfortunate souls who had to live out countless months cramped inside here something other than questionable mush, right?

Right?!

I wish I could help, but this is the first time I've heard of any of those groups. Hell, I'm still trying to figure out why I'm here or what's going on. The info dump I got when I arrived here was somehow less helpful than the vague hints found in a typical 8 bit RPG.

[He sighs.]

So, are you part of this X-Men group? They sound kind of shady.
