Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Thread ideas:

- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.

- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...

- Is that a chill in the air? It seems to be getting just a little colder, day by day... or maybe it's your imagination? But just in case it's not, you might want to thinking about prepping for what could be winter. Does that mean gathering plants to dry for food? Stockpiling water, or trying to get the power to stay steady in the buildings so you won't freeze (does it even get down to freezing, here - who knows!)? It's up to you!

- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

"Dude, my future brother-in-law is an alien," Tommy snaps, bouncing to his feet. At his speed. Which means before any human could track it with their eyes. "I'm a fucking mutant. Homo sapiens superior. I'm an evolved human, and you're pathetic."

Yep, he's up before she even realizes he's moving and she's back in a defensive stance again.

"Buddy, I don't need some alien mutated bullshit to hold my own." Because of course she says and definitely believes that, like it's entirely possible with his speed. "Aliens are destroying and torturing humans, they don't deserve to be alive anywhere- brother-in-law or not."

Different universes have different aliens? Not all aliens are Convenient? Her experiences aren't universal to everyone everywhere? Never heard of it.

"Yeah, some species. But really, I haven't seen a Kree or a Skrull fuck with a human in a while. They're afraid of us," Tommy dismisses. What a idiot woman. Like, the Agrii aren't even the same aliens.

There's no words to change the 'aliens are bad' opinion in her very core, but she does give a second of consideration to what he says and what she's learned so far of this place from that glowy ball.

If this place is for real, the supposed aliens here claim to be up to different bullshit than trying to wipe out the human race. Plus this guy, while annoying and too fast, hasn't actually tried anything just yet. And she does like the idea of aliens being afraid of humans (or humans-ish) here, like many of the Covvies are afraid of the UNSC. Then there's the possibility, no matter how slim, that maybe different species have different motives...

The main selling point that has her again lowering her fists is superficial and downright stupid- he doesn't look like the Covvies. He looks human. Enhanced or mutated or whatever he wants to call it, physically, he looks no different than someone at home. So she gives pause, and yet another hard look at him.

"What the fuck is all of this?" She asks, demands really, roughly gesturing a hand around them. She'll be bothered about mutant-alien-people in a sec, her thoughts are bouncing all over the place.

"You touched the glowy ball. That had all the answers we've got."

Come on, lady. Aren't you even paying attention to anything? Oh well, she'll have to live with whatever is going on here.

"Get with the program."

"I'm unfortunately with the program, guy. Figured someone not freshly here would have more of a fucking clue." She doesn't trust the ball of information, and honestly regardless of what he has to say she probably wouldn't believe him either, but it's worth a shot.

"Yeah, but given your hostility, it's not like you'd trust me when I tell you shit," Tommy points out, annoyed.

Look at that, angry twins being angry at each other. Who would have expected it.

"Whatever. Trying to be nice is bullshit. I'm going to go find B or someone interesting and leave you alone to be grumpy-pants all on your own."

She's not going to let him know how true that is, she's just going to finally cross her arms and look more bored and frustrated than defensive and angry. Mostly.

"Oh and, what, you were sunshine and cupcakes when you woke up in this weird as place?" She huffs out, looking away from him for a second to glare at an innocent tree.

Actually, yes, because there was food. And his twin. And his parents, but also not his parents? Listen, it's complicated.

"I'm always sunshine and cupcakes," he counters, in an easy lie. Lying was never hard. "Not my fault you're acting like a crazy racist bitch."

"Great..." Gar mutters, frowning a little. He'll check the comm thing in a bit he guesses. He's starting to think maybe he's going a little bit crazy.

He does keep trying the chocolate but yep that texture is just weird.

The texture is hell, but he'll get used to it. Tommy has. Then again, he's not exactly the best at refusing food when it's offered.

"In the mean time some people stay in the buildings."

"You'd be a crazy racist bitch too if any and every alien you ever even heard about wanted to wipeout human kind from every inch of the universe." Whether she believes his reply or not isn't obvious and doesn't seem to matter, she's still entirely sure she's absolutely right.

Tommy shrugs. "Then be better than them."

It's that simple for him. Because that's what humanity does in his universe. They're just better than her apparently.

"Ain't no reason you gotta be against another Earthling."

"Plenty of 'Earthlings' are doing the same shit too." She huffs, trying to avoid commenting about the first part but, well, she can't help adding, "I am better than them, on every front."

"Then prove it and stop whining," Tommy shrugs, pushing to his feet. He stretches and offers a brief salute. "Me? I've got fucking plants to take care of. Because food."

"I'm not whining. Woke up in a weird fucking place with some douche magic'ing around me, I'm allowed to be confused." And bitchy. And hostile for no real reason. And awful on ever front. Of course she is.

South is tempted to ask if they have to grow their own food, what he means by his little gardening plans- she hasn't really retained much of any information she's been given. She's still mildly freaked out and quite possibly overwhelmed.

"Billy's the magic twin. I just, you know, run at somewhere over three thousand miles an hour," Tommy shrugs. Let's get those sorts of things straight.

Now, the word 'twin' does catch her attention, arms dropping as she looks at him with another hard gaze, "Twin?"

Why should he stop over that. Tommy sighs and rolls his eyes. "Yeah, you know, a guy that looks just like me except he has black hair and brown eyes. Instead of white and blue. So yeah, what of it?"

Gar used to live with a really, really good chef. He's a bit spoiled when it comes to food.

"But there aren't beds, huh?"

"Definitely aren't. Except on the ships. Which is for the best. Because, you know, I think the Agrii were really tall. Are?"

"He's here, too? Did he come with you?" Not that she exactly wants anyone from home around, if this place is as fucked as it already seems. But if there's a chance someone's here, specifically North...

"I don't get why that's for the best?" He can't help but raise his eyebrows. And he's still continuing to eat the chocolate even though he's not a fan.

"The beds wouldn't fit us."

Duh. And look, the protein gel is just good to eat, even if it wasn't the best.

"And all the beds in the buildings are rotted."

"We came here independently, but yeah, my bro's here too," Tommy shrugs. Why should that be such a concern?
