Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Thread ideas:

- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.

- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...

- Is that a chill in the air? It seems to be getting just a little colder, day by day... or maybe it's your imagination? But just in case it's not, you might want to thinking about prepping for what could be winter. Does that mean gathering plants to dry for food? Stockpiling water, or trying to get the power to stay steady in the buildings so you won't freeze (does it even get down to freezing, here - who knows!)? It's up to you!

- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

"He's here, too? Did he come with you?" Not that she exactly wants anyone from home around, if this place is as fucked as it already seems. But if there's a chance someone's here, specifically North...

"We came here independently, but yeah, my bro's here too," Tommy shrugs. Why should that be such a concern?

Well. Now she has several more concerns about this already fucked up place- shit.

"How'd you find him?" She mutters, looking away as her thoughts race before she says louder, "How do you find out who's here?"

Tommy rolls his eyes. Why does she keep asking really hard questions?

"I'm fast, I ran around. Eventually I saw him. We live together now. That a big deal?"

"Kind of, yeah." It's a pretty big deal to her- for selfish reasons of not wanting to deal with North's overbearing, and not wanting her friends in this weird place with god knows what going on.

Though, honestly, a familiar face and some backup wouldn't be awful...

"Well, you gotta go find the comm device the Agrii give you. They did it when we were sleeping, so maybe you'll have it tomorrow. It has a list of the people here so we can contact them."

Tommy pulls off and shows off his own little device.

South eyes the device, frown deepening. They have an official index of people here? Just keeping tabs on all of them, neat. Yea, she doesn't like that at all. But she is going to search high and low for this...device, then search through it's list of names to see if any are familiar. Fuck.

"Also, if you're the welcoming party, you're fucking awful at it." She adds after a second of thinking, because while she has a thousand and one questions, she's still very leery of this guy. Still, it's not really said in a hostile or aggressive way, more matter-of-factly as she crosses her arms over her chest again, mind racing.

It's just pre-loaded phones. Geez, don't be so creepy. Even if they are being watched, like, always.

"I'm not the welcoming party. I came for some damn water. And you're just, you know, a pain when it comes to welcoming."

"I'm not a pain- you came up like freakishly fast with no warning or anything, what do you expect? Open arms and hug time?" She scoffs, frowning again. A pain. She is not. It's a shitshow of a thing to wake up to, entirely not her fault for being immediately hostile and aggressive, of course not!

"The lady really just bitches too much about being rude," Tommy shrugs, and waves her off.

"Listen, you want a fucking tour or not? I'm here and I'm bored, but I can easily go do other shit."

She eyes him again, beyond cautious but, well. She does need to know where what is, a tour wouldn't be the worst thing she could accept. Her guard is still high and her gaze still hard, but she nods after a moment.

"Fine. Lets see this wonderful place." It's better than going in blind, or runn off half-cocked like she wants to do. She wants to rip into this place and carve out all of it's secrets, find a way out, but it might be easier and quicker to do that with some clue of it's layout.

"I'll try and keep to a pace a snail like you can keep up with."

"Or we can bust up your leg and see if it slows you down." It's not a threat, not really, it's even said with a touch of an almost teasing tone.

That isn't even funny. Tommy glares at her. He's a speedster. His legs and feet are everything.

"Another joke like that and I'm leaving you behind."

"Aw, come on, you could hobble along just fine I'm sure." She shrugs, offering a mean little smirk.

"Hate having to keep at a fucking snail pace," Tommy rolls his eyes, shuffling toward a large glass building.

"I am plenty fast enough, not my fault you're like, all hyped up on drugs." Yes. Narcotics. Definitely what it is. He's already explained, but whatever, totally drugs.

Tommy almost wants to laugh, because yeah, he knows how terrible his hero name choice had turned out to be. But that's just something he has to live with. And apparently this woman's refusal to accept simple explanations. Though...

"Didn't your world have superhero stories or anything?"

[whosthemonsternow]

"Yea. In made up stories for kids. Our real "superheroes" are the people in the UNSC putting their lives on the line stopping alien invasions and complete human annihilation." It's not that she has a boner for authority or even the military, not exactly. She just a healthy respect for people like her trying to stop the bad guys, and a good dose of loathing for said bad guys. They don't have magical super heroes to fly in and save the day, just loosely normal people, sometimes genetically enhanced or altered, dying left and right to try saving people.

"We have them. I am one. So's my brother. And others here. I was part of a team called the Young Avengers. Which was like the Avengers but younger and thus better."

A lot better in his opinion.

"Younger like dumb kids with no experience, or younger like the other group is old dicks that can't superhero around without busting a hip?" She could relate to his opinion though, but she's not going to say that.

Wow, spoken like a true old person who hasn't figured out they're old yet.

"Like older teens and young adults who have tons of experience. I've fought against fucking alien invasions and the end of the world several times. So don't even go there, old lady."

[whosthemonsternow]

"Old lady!" She comes to a stop with a hard scoff, jabbing an accusatory finger at him, "I'm 23, you son of a bitch, not even close to old, first off-! And I was just asking, actual younger or younger compared to old farts, don't gotta be so touchy."

Right. He's the touchy one. Of course.

Okay, so only a bit older than Kate.

"As in I'm nineteen and I've been in this line of work since I was about sixteenish."

So yeah, he's been at it for a while. For a hero. Surviving this long should be applauded.

Nineteen, she can remember those years, boots worn and kill count already ticking. The pride and cockiness, the excitement with each mission. Alright, she'll allow it. For the moment.

"Well, go on, tour guide it up, guy." She gestures a hand off and starts moving again.
