Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Thread ideas:

- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.

- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...

- Is that a chill in the air? It seems to be getting just a little colder, day by day... or maybe it's your imagination? But just in case it's not, you might want to thinking about prepping for what could be winter. Does that mean gathering plants to dry for food? Stockpiling water, or trying to get the power to stay steady in the buildings so you won't freeze (does it even get down to freezing, here - who knows!)? It's up to you!

- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

Forest

Soren frowned as he eyed his new surroundings warily. This certainly wasn't Katolis anymore. Could this be Xadia? -- But wouldn't it be all magical and sparkly if it was? Why was this place in such ruins? Did a big war happen here? This was brand new territory for him. He stood in his armor trying to figure out what to do. he scratched the back of his head, wishing his sister Claudia was around. She would know what to do.

"Hey, can someone help a guy out here?" he called out to a passerby. After being ignored several times, he moved further into the forest to see what he could find. Maybe no one lived in that ruined village and this was just a place to pass through.

Hotel

Finally, Soren was given some answers. Someone was more then patient to answer the many questions that had formed by that point he found someone willing. He realized that the village he was originally in was habitable. People were living in the falling apart buildings and there was this hotel where most stayed in.

He didn't know what a hotel was....but he gathered enough that it had to be like an inn. He trooped back to the village and into the hotel. It was kind of creepy and run down. Maybe he will he find more people. Or better yet food. Food would be good now. A jelly tart would be fabulous right now.

Rayla had been tracking him since he appeared in the forest. Following in the trees above, she was wary. She knew Soren from when he'd attempted to knock off Ezran while they were at the top of the Caldera at the Moon Nexus after Zym hatched.

He wasn't exactly on the top of the list when it came to people she wanted to see... especially after he'd attempted to kill that dragon.

As he approached the hotel, she launched herself from the trees, flipping over his head, and landing directly in his path, blocking him from entering the building.

"You'd better no' be here ta cause trouble!"

Accusatory finger point at his face.

Soren let out a startled cry at the sudden appearance of Rayla. She had been the last person he expected to see here. He stumbled backwards a bit, but caught himself before falling completely.

"Woah! Easy there!" Soren replied, his expression full of surprise and nervousness. "I just arrived here? How can I cause trouble for just arriving?"

He understood that she had every right to be accusing him. Not with all the trouble he caused in the past. They weren't on great terms. Yet...things changed since then.

"Oh, I don't know... maybe because last time you 'just arrived'," with air quotes, "you tried to off Ezran?"

Sorry, Soren... but things hadn't changed for Rayla, yet. Have fun wrapping that brain around this one.

Soren could feel his face going red as he tried to figure out how to say. He was in a tough situation and Rayla was someone who took a while to convince. That much he learned from the time they had together and everything he did made it worse.

"I want to apologize for that. I was under my father's orders. I really didn't feel comfortable with those orders, but I was trying to gain his approval. Only later ...I began to realize it wasn't the right thing to do and I've been trying to fix that since the last time we met."

Rayla stared at Soren as he explained, and then... she blinked, visibly surprised, and then... maybe even a little sympathetic. She sighed, dropping her gaze to the ground for a moment.

"Oh." She took a breath. "I suppose I understand that. Gettin' approval from someone you look up to is... kinda important."

Sometimes, Rayla wondered if she'd ever get Runaan's approval... if he was even still around to give it. She wasn't sure.

"That's pretty hard to deal with, isn't it?"
