TEST DRIVE
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.

- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...

- Is that a chill in the air? It seems to be getting just a little colder, day by day... or maybe it's your imagination? But just in case it's not, you might want to thinking about prepping for what could be winter. Does that mean gathering plants to dry for food? Stockpiling water, or trying to get the power to stay steady in the buildings so you won't freeze (does it even get down to freezing, here - who knows!)? It's up to you!

- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

Speedster. Metabolism is WAY too high for those things to last for me. And the days here are SUPER long, so yeah, nights are good for stories. But it sounds like X-Men got shit complicated again, right?

[Yeah, when it comes to it, green clad heroes of the Lehnsherr line have WAY too much getting locked up experience.]

I'm not after favorite nephew status, but let's face it, I am the best. It's just nice to have another fucking mutant around. And your powers could be damn helpful. Though you're definitely helping with the whole 'Tommy you're the only family member here who can't fly' thing.

It sure did. [ Understatement, really. ]

The less mutants are outnumbered, the better. [ Especially in the multiverse. ] And anyway, you can fly if I float you. It'll definitely not end in some sort of over the top shenanigans. [ Spoilers, everything this family does ends in over the top shenanigans and they both know it. ]

Yeah Billy could float me up too maybe? Or the other fliers could carry me. Not that there is much use in flying me around.

[There have been a lot of weird things, though. So who knows. Maybe it could be useful. And, in a second, he is by the fountain, looking for her.]

Gives a nice view anyway. [ She's escaped to the sky before for a view and a place to chill.

Once she's circled back around to the fountain and sees him, she cuts the network connection to meet up with him face to face. Although he'll probably get to her before she can get to him.

[Listen, he isn’t gonna initiate a hug. He just offers a raised hand for a high five. They are the cool ones of the Lehnsherr line, after all. They can be cool without being too touchy-feely, right.]

So, you get extra shit uploaded into your brain yet? Believe it or not, I farm. Oh and the food here is super weird and cool. Mushrooms that taste like bacon. But sometimes powers suffer I guess. I can’t blow shit up without going into this weird cave that gives me way too much energy and makes my hair glow. Bet it would super charge you.

[ They are indeed, so high five it is. ]

Uh, no, not yet. I have a bad track record with that; the last times I got extra shit uploaded into my brain, I was a horsewoman of Apocalypse or Malice-infested. Am I allowed to draft-dodge that part? [ HUFF HUFF she likes her brain as it is. She'll take bacon mushrooms, though. ] Caves, though, I could go for some spelunking.

[Damn right. Tommy grins as the high five connects. Best aunt.]

Wait, you were Apocalypsified? Which were you and how is the world not over because you'd be dangerous.

[Malice makes less sense for him. But he is still grinning stupidly because he gets Lorna, and he likes her. Even if they don't meet often. Mutants and Avengers don't tend to mix well. Such is life.]

They tell me there's a hot spring in the caves. I never reach it. I feel too itchy and need to run. Like I'm an overful battery.

Pestilence. Zero out of ten, I do not recommend. Hard pass. [ Sometimes. she thinks she should have accepted Wanda's offer to have her join the Avengers. Then she would have maybe not had to babysit (train) time displaced X-Men. ]

That just sounds like what I imagine a speedster feels like all the time?

I'm calling for a recount. You should have at least been War.

[Lehnsherrs deserve higher billing, even when they aren't one on a piece of paper. But he shrugs at her estimation of what being a speedster must feel like.]

Being a speedster feels like... well, being a human but more. Can you sit perfectly still for three hours at a time? Like, not blink, not move, just sit still watching everything around you not move as well?

I'll take it up next time. [ A half smile. ]

I'd probably be wondering why no one else was doing shit, honestly.

[personal profile] doubled_speed 2020-02-01 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
It's maddening, the way other people don't keep up. It takes focus to stay at levels other people live at.

[personal profile] geomagnetically 2020-02-06 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Anything us slowpokes can do to make that easier? [ She means it. Maybe she should know it given her time around Pietro, but they spent more time snarking at each other (even when on the same teams) in varying levels that it never came up. ]
doubled_speed: (Default)

[personal profile] doubled_speed 2020-02-07 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
[See, but she gets it, in a way. From interacting with Pietro she has to GET IT. That it's hard to focus. Does she get it? He doesn't actually know.]

Don't call me impatient? Like, people do that all the time. And don't get in my face about twitching. I do it sometimes to try and keep time with normal people.

[personal profile] geomagnetically 2020-02-08 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Anyone and everyone who says things like that to you can not-so-kindly go fuck themselves. [ He's fast, not impatient or twitchy. ] But yeah, of course.
doubled_speed: (Leave Me Out Of This)

[personal profile] doubled_speed 2020-02-08 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, people only think of 'oh cool you're fast'. They don't think about the problems it makes for you.

I mean, for what it's worth, I already know you handle it better than I would. [ She can hardly keep up with herself at non-speedy speeds.... ]
doubled_speed: (Gotta Take This Call)

[personal profile] doubled_speed 2020-02-20 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
If you were like me, then you'd handle it.
