Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Thread ideas:

- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.

- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...

- Is that a chill in the air? It seems to be getting just a little colder, day by day... or maybe it's your imagination? But just in case it's not, you might want to thinking about prepping for what could be winter. Does that mean gathering plants to dry for food? Stockpiling water, or trying to get the power to stay steady in the buildings so you won't freeze (does it even get down to freezing, here - who knows!)? It's up to you!

- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

Alien kidnappings, in their timeline? It's more likely than you think. A joke that Teddy should appreciate more, given his parents getting together and having him was because of that. Minus hte multi-verse part.

Great, so you're still ditching me in the future, is what Tommy doesn't say. But he has to bite it back. Instead he shrugs.

"Yeah, I mean, that happens. Hopefully I'm still fucking awesome in the future."

"You're definitely still very...you." His tone makes it impossible to tell if that's supposed to be a compliment or not. But really he's just trying to steer clear of revealing any more future time information. Shattering the time line is not on his to-do list today.

"Is there anything else I need to know about this place?"

Wow man, super not a compliment. Or not a good enough one. Rude.

Tommy shrugs, "I mean, yeah. There are other people here, it's awkward, and... Well, I don't know that telling you would be fair. Because then you might make assumptions of people and what they're like."

"Make assumptions? Why would I do that?"

If everyone here is from all different worlds, then what exactly would he have to base his assumptions on? Unless...there's alternate world versions of people they know here.

Oh god.

"Are there alternate world versions of people we know here?"

Tommy really should just lead with this kind of information.

Dude already hit on the answer, and Tommy wants to laugh. Way to be smart Teddy.

"Yeah, exactly. It can be weird. So you can't, like, assume people will know you. But like, their world doesn't have mutants."

So Tommy had been sorta stupid to assume THIS Teddy was his Teddy.

"Tommy...I've met about a dozen different versions of myself alone. That's not counting the several versions of Billy, and Kate, and yous that I've run into or fought. It's weird but nothing I can't handle."

He's silent for a moment as he processes that bit about no mutants.

"As in mutants have never existed in their world or Wanda went all 'no more Mutants'?"

Potentially touchy subject but it's important that he has these specifics.

"Former. I have to keep explaining what the fuck we are," Tommy shrugs. "Also, we've got a general rule here."

Tommy steps closer and pokes his finger into Teddy's chest. Tommy is protective of only one thing more than he is his team. His family.

"No one tells this Wanda about that shit. Ever. Got it?"

Well, that's a relief then. Kind of. Better they don't exist at all rather then be poofed out of existence. Teddy has seen the aftermath of that kind of thing and he would rather it didn't happen again in any universe.

He raises his hands up before his chest in surrender as Tommy steps up to him.

"Yep. I understand completely. So...there is another Wanda here? What's she like?"

"She's... different," Tommy says, but he doesn't know how to put it beyond that. The whole thing has been a bit of a mess. And he wishes it wasn't. He wishes he knew how to handle his other-mother. "She's kind. And I'd really rather not talk about it because life is fucking complicated enough back home."

"Okay. No talking about new Wanda. Who else is here? There's not other versions of us hanging around are there?" A tiny bit of dread leaks into his voice as he asks. But it's a valid question. He's been in enough dimension-hopping situations to know they're usually only one bad day away from one of their other selves plotting to take over the universe or something.

Other versions of them? No way. Tommy shakes his head and then bursts out laughing.

"Man, just imagine B imploding from delight at the idea of TWO Teddy's to snuggle up to. The fucking glee he would radiate would be enough to power one of these ships for a month or something."

Listen, people briefed him on the dimension travel and a lot of other stuff, but no one ever told him about how BAD the other them were. Then again, maybe there wasn't other Tommys. Or they were all good.

"Yeah, maybe until he realized the other me is a homicidal maniac trying to claim the universe for the Skree Empire."

There Tommy, you can have your Skree Empire in the crazy, totally made up, evil universe of Teddy's imagination.

"Speaking of these ships. I thought the whole point is the Agrii wants to keep us here. Why would they leave us a bunch of ships? Seems a bit convenient."

"What, why you gotta assume that other universe yous have to be evil?" Tommy asks, frowning hard at his friend. "You're, like, made of puppys and sunshine or some shit like that."

Still Tommy leans against the wall and shrugs. Because it's pretty complicated.

"So they apparently saw people on this reality TV show where people were kidnapped and sent through space. So they thought people could help them. Figure we'll get shipped out places to get resources or something."
