TEST DRIVE
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.
- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...
- Is that a chill in the air? It seems to be getting just a little colder, day by day... or maybe it's your imagination? But just in case it's not, you might want to thinking about prepping for what could be winter. Does that mean gathering plants to dry for food? Stockpiling water, or trying to get the power to stay steady in the buildings so you won't freeze (does it even get down to freezing, here - who knows!)? It's up to you!
- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.
- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

Not everything has to be serious and important to matter. Sometimes it's just nice to talk to people about silly things.
no subject
Though I suppose I can be confused at the subject you used to bring some levity into our lives.
no subject
I'm not surprised considering you didn't even know what a bunny girl was until now. Are you secretly a pure-hearted sheltered maiden?
no subject
no subject
I would hope you would know what a girl is. If you didn't, I would have just gave up on this conversation.
Anyway, it's a bit difficult to convey something completely unknown through text alone, but I'll do my best. A bunny is a small, fuzzy animal with big ears and a tail that's looks like a cotton ball. Imagine something that resembles this:
(\_/)
(o.o)
(___)0
no subject
And if dressing up in a way that resembles them is popular I'm assuming they act as cute as they look, as well?
Not that an animal being carnivorous and aggressive has ever stopped anyone from liking them, I suppose.
no subject
That's right! When most people think of something cute and harmless, bunnies tend to be the first thing that pops into their head. They're so cute that people like to keep them as pets and use them as a mascot for a holiday. Hell, there's even legends that revolve around bunnies living on the moon.

Probably not. My planet has never came in contact with any intelligent life out in space.

Honestly, that's incredible. The idea that there are other humans flying around in the vastness of space like it's a normal, everyday occurrence is just mindbogglingly to me. Where I'm from, sending people into space is considered a major event.
no subject
And some would probably prefer staying on their own planet, shut off from outside influence.
no subject
The scale may be way bigger, but it's no different then a country isolating itself from everyone around them. It doesn't surprise me that an entire planet would do that.
no subject
Nor countries should they have the same reasoning where you are from.
no subject
Hold on, are you saying that entire planets are constantly going to war with each other where you're from?
no subject
We all fight for our homelands, but... I'd like to be able to broker peace between my Empire and the Republic.
Not that my fellows necessarily agree with me on that point.
no subject
You must get a lot of opposition for your choice. It's really easy for people to look at others as 'an enemy that needs to be destroyed' and consider any alternatives to be impossible.
I've been involved with a war before, but even then I could only grasp a fragment of what was happening around me. Brokering peace between two nations is way beyond me, much less doing it at the scale you're trying to accomplish.
no subject
Sith believe that war is in their blood. I would much prefer stability and prosperity for my people. Not that I don't have my grievances with the Empire's enemies, but I imagine even those could be solved through mediation.
It is a difficult task- but I am nothing if not determined.
And our conversation has strayed rather far, hasn't it.
[Altair's more amused by that than anything else as he likes these kinds of discussions, though.]
no subject
Yeah, I noticed. Was this your plan all along? This was suppose to be stupid conversation about bunny girls, not war and politics.
I mean, I guess I don't mind talking about it, but I'm starting to feel like we're getting into topics that are way above my head. I barely pay attention to political stuff on my own planet and what little I know makes me glad I don't have to deal with it on a daily basis. I don't envy your position.
no subject
And for all its faults, I actually do enjoy my position. Politics are complicated, and everyone lies, but unraveling those threads is quite the interesting way to pass the time.
no subject
That's quite the positive outlook for an occupation that has assassination as a possible hazard.
So, what exactly was your position back home? I get that you're a politician and an important one given how people are going out of their way to kill you, but that alone doesn't tell me much. For all I know, you could be a fairy-tale princess trying to win the hearts and minds of her people with her charming innocence.
no subject
The apprentice kills the Master, or the Master kills the apprentice, and one must always assume everyone is lying or at least has an agenda they're not mentioning. It is not an easy life to live, but it is an interesting one. Though I should like to live it with a little less murder, if I am to be perfectly honest.
I am a member of the Sith Empire's Dark Council. Twelve seats, twelve Sith, that rules over all the rest- and each have their own duties, as well.
no subject
What the hell kind of fucked up system is that! A life of paranoia where people are convinced that they need to kill others or be killed themselves isn't what I consider 'interesting'. This system only encourages people to embrace the ugliness in their hearts.
[Touma slows his breathing down after he sends his first text in order to calm himself down. Nearly a minute passes before he messages again.]
I'm not going to pretend I understand or know what you did to become part of this Dark Council. What matters now is the present. I'm glad you acknowledge that your home can't maintain itself forever as it currently exists and you're doing what you can to alter the destructive path its heading. I do hope, though, that you've been pushing for these changes without resorting to darker methods.
no subject
And I can assure you, I am not becoming a monster to push through the changes I deem necessary for my people's survival. Lies and manipulation where necessary, finding like-minded individuals where and when I can. The Empire needs strong, rational leadership. I intend to provide it.
I have met my share of monsters- I do not wish to see one in the mirror, one day.
no subject
I see. Yeah, you could say I've encountered my fair share of 'monsters' in my life as well. Each one was a person who committed a number of tragedies all for the sake of those important to them or something more grand in scale. It's good to hear you're not going down that path and creating more tragedies.
This might not mean much coming from an outsider and nobody like me, but I sincerely wish you the best.
