TEST DRIVE
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the first Test Drive for The Revival Project!
For those who do not know, this game is a spin-off from The Drift Fleet game, which is shortly closing. For more information about what this game is about, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
The TDM for the first round of applications is NOT required but is highly recommended. Really this is to see the interest level in the game as well as to have everyone interact on the new planet and with the new experiences offered here. There will be a post in the TDM where questions can be asked regarding the prompts/settings. We're keeping this loose though so go ahead and have fun with it. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level so we know. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! The only option not allowed is to completely restart your character (because then it's not DFAU, is it?)
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

In the square near your arrival point, one building seems to be in fairly good repair. It’s large and stark white on every wall. Unlike the other buildings, all the lights are on and the windows looking out are intact. That alone would make it remarkable but it’s hardly the most noticeable thing once you step inside the open doorway.
Hanging against one wall is a piece of fabric that has ‘WHALE COMB!’ painted on it in drippy, fluorescent pink letters. A smiley is painted underneath it right on the wall with three eyes and long fangs. The fangs drip down all the way to the floor and the eyes are just a blob of paint, but whoever left it seems to have been trying, here. ‘US THANK THEY!’ is written beside it, barely legible. On every other wall is ‘EAT’ in various sizes and colors. They thankfully don’t drip as much as the smiley since, beneath them, are tables upon tables of food.
There are meats, fruits, root vegetables, and even what might be a sweet dessert of some sort as well. Bowls are full of them, apparently a welcome dinner for the Agrii’s new heroes. At the very least it will give everyone a quick crash course on what is edible around here. But some of it might have … adverse effects:
- People chomping down on the striped meat all seem to get very drowsy a few minutes later.
- The red fruit that looks like a giant cherry is the equivalent of a few shots - the more consumed, the more drunken this party is getting.
- There is a bowl of weeds that have small, daisy-like flowers all along the stalks. This tastes like chicken and gives the eater a sudden burst of energy that will have them running around the room like they’re being chased.
-There are a collection of drinks, some made from the red fruit, some that are clearly water, some that taste like a less-sweet lemonade with no effects, and then there's a blue one that tastes like an especially dark beer. People drinking this will find themselves incapable of lying for a half hour.
Of course, no way to know any of this before you chow down. So dig in and enjoy the show!

They said don’t go into the forest. If the noises there weren’t deterrent enough then the thick trees and lack of paths should have been. Yes, you’ll need food. Yes, both meat and many fruits are in the forest. But maybe you should have gotten some more information before heading in.
Congratulations: you went into the forest and are now lost. You can’t hear the murmurings from town, nor can you see any of the lights that might be flickering on and off in the city. How are you going to get back into town? How do you make sure that the creatures here don’t attack you? You probably don’t have any weapons, so you’d better figure something out quick.
Or, maybe you’ll get lucky and run into another foolish person wandering around out here. Try not to attack them - unless they attack first.

The first thing every survivor needs to find is shelter. Not long after your arrival at the fountain, it’s getting darker now and, even if the night is short (you’re about to find out it’s not!), you don’t want to spend your first one out on an unfamiliar street. Distantly you can hear a sound like a wolf howling through an elephant’s trunk. It’s loud and alien. Maybe you want to find somewhere to sleep a little more quickly.
Right away there are two pretty solid options that will do nicely for the night: an abandoned hotel-like structure and some empty stores.
The hotel structure seems to be the most popular option for others. Its large, overgrown lobby leads you to the staircase and over a dozen floors of rooms in varying conditions. Despite it looking as though no one has set foot in here for decades, the stairs and floors all are secure. The rooms that have doors on them open up to dusty rooms that all have a bathroom (of sorts) attached and long, narrow bed frames. Figuring out a mattress will be a challenge but at least this is a safe place to sleep. As long as no animals laid claim to this room before you got in...
But let’s say the room in the hotel doesn’t work for you. Maybe the room is too small for you. Maybe you don’t like the stairs. Maybe you want someplace private to separate yourself from the rest of these strangers and to think quietly about what to do next. Either way, the other option is any number of abandoned stores lining the block where you arrived. The glass doors and windows of many are broken but there are just as many intact as well. The rooms are all large and empty, as whatever wares inside were either taken or dissolved over the years. There may be a counter or two that will get you off the ground, though. With all this space, you’re bound to find something to sleep on.
Unless someone else got there, first...

(Anonymous) 2019-07-15 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)"These don't seem to be the same as the ones that made people hyper or anything else. I feel pretty full eating a few handfuls so..."
He hands it over, hoping that he hasn't just given something that the boy will be allergic to. But really, no one knows anything right now. It is all guesses.
"There are some roots that are good, too. Sort of like potatoes..."
no subject
"You're not wrong. There are some good tubers for that. Or there were at the Porpoise Brush party," Tommy agrees. What? He'd enjoyed the language issue. "They were tasty, and I've had a lot of energy since then, so great carbs. Gonna make a spiralizer and have lots of pasta like that."
The offering of the fruit, though, Tommy looks in shock at Steve. It's one thing to acknowledge that Tommy will need a lot. Another to have this guy just offer what he's found. He considers them, before fishing a berry out and rolling it around in his fingers.
"Suppose I make a good test subject. Whatever could be bad in these will hit my system a lot faster than anyone else probably. Unless my mutation makes me immune. Down the hatch."
He pops the fruit and chews, and after he swallows he throws his arms open in his best 'smite me now' pose. Nothing yet. May be good.
ANOTHER TAG I SOMEHOW WROTE AS ANONYMOUS AND HAD NO IDEA YOU RESPONDED. I AM A MORON.
"When you get that spiralizer up, you gotta have me and Buck over for pasta. We got some good, simple ways to make sauce. Best of the Depression Era Cookbook." Which, actually, Steve was going to be breaking into a lot. Having more potatoes than you knew what to do with and little to no meat? Yeah. Yeah, he has been there. Maybe he should open a restaurant.
Steve waits a second and, when Tommy doesn't seem to be dropping or having any bad effects, smiles wide.
"Good. So far, at least." Steve looks over his shoulder and back towards the way he'd been coming from. "We could probably grab some more for you to stock up on, before we try to head back?
"Only if you promise not to lap me too many times."
*shrug emoji* I'm cool
He pops a few more berries quite happily, they're going to be useful for figuring out the right way to get them back to the city, that's going to require some speed so that they aren't here for an insane period of time. And follows it with a few more for good measure. They almost taste good, and he's pleased with that.
"That's probably a good plan. Can't run on an empty stomach. And man, I can't afford to waist energy here on making the point of how much of snails you all are. Yet."
Once food is reliable... well, he might.
no subject
"Uh, actually it's more like 'totally-romantic-actual-partner', now. With one of them, I mean. Bucky with the short hair and both arms." It's really good that his Bucky is the only one that fits that description. It's already confusing enough with three of them running around, even if they all do use different names.
He leaves it at that and starts leading back towards where the berries were. Thankfully it's not overly far and the bushes are lousy with them. Steve picks a few and eats them first to make sure they really are the same and then starts collecting them for his bag.
"Go ahead and fill up. Once you're all set I'll ask ya to run off and see if there's a good way back. If you run into anything dangerous, though, come straight back." Still a Captain.
no subject
"Okay, first? I'm so fucking going to hold this little bit of news over my twin when I get home. He's a huge fan of yours, and would die if our you was gay or whatever. But seriously, two Barnes? The world can't handle that. Too much destruction."
Though if only one of them has the arm then that's only one Winter Soldier, right? Anyway, he follows Steve and finishes all of the berries he has in his hands. Damn, he appreciates this. And still not dead.
"You sure you trust a strange speedster? And if it's dangerous I can just deal with it."
no subject
"I don't think we have the luxury of not trusting each other, here," he continues, face still set in a frown. "And I would appreciate being able to assist if you are in danger. We have no idea what's out here; an extra hand isn't something to brush away."
no subject
Still, Tommy almost feels like he has to prove that he can take care of himself. That he doesn't need a supersoldier to protect him. So he looks around and finds a rock. Picks the thing up and just wiggles it between his fingers to make sure Steve notices it. He crosses five feet in almost no time and puts the rock down before running back.
"I'm more here to protect you."
He raises a hand and they start to vibrate, beyond the point when they are mostly a blur. And the rock shatters to pieces. And he frowns at that.
"Huh... Okay, normally it's more explosive than that. Or... vaporize-y. That's..."
What? Is there maybe a bit more concern, maybe just the briefest flash of fear. on his face.
no subject
"Look. Part of being kidnapped to another world is that sometimes people who are too powerful get...dampened a little. You should talk to some other people. They're probably experiencing the same thing. It's all the more reason why we should stick together."
He pats Tommy's shoulder and tries to offer a smile.
"Doesn't mean you're not still protecting me. We just gotta protect each other until we know more about what's going on. Besides, what you did? Even without the explosion, that was pretty impressive. I wouldn't have thought about using speed for that. Clever..."
no subject
"Some speedsters can, but by touching things. I have, fuck, how did they word it? I accelerate molecular structures by hyper-kinetic vibrations. Or something. I don't have to touch them, I just do it."
That is just weird for him. This was part of why he was wanted back home. What made him super.
no subject
He knows vaguely the way he came and points off in one direction.
"You're way more efficient than I would ever be at scouting around. I'll wait right here and you find us a path? We'll take it together and make sure neither of us get into any trouble.
A good team of two."
no subject
Still, he is left to consider for a while, before grabbing a few extra berries for the road.
"Probably not safe to go sonic speeds, so this could take a bit. Have yourself a seat, old-guy. I'll be back as soon as I can."
no subject
It's not worth it to cause a fuss though. Technically speaking he is over a hundred so it's not that far off. Frowning, he crosses his arms over his chest and waits for Tommy to jet off and then return. At least he's near the berries and some of the roots he's been chewing on.
"Probably the most spry centennial he knows," Steve grumbles around a root, chewing it slow enough to maybe make the full feeling last longer. If he has time he'll dig up some more.
no subject
The forest sucks. This much Tommy has decided by the time he returns to Cap for real. After half an hour. There were a few instances of winds rushing around near Cap and berries stripped from the bush. Even a potato going missing before Tommy comes to a stop by Steve.
“By the way? Hate this place.”
no subject
"Yeah. I'm not overly fond myself."
In the bushes there's been rustling that Steve wasn't sure about. It could be the squirrel-like animals or something new. He doesn't want to find out when the sun is starting to dip and the world is getting dark. Maybe in the long, long morning.
"Found a way out?"
no subject
Half an hour is an eternity to a young man who, when properly fed and running at his native speeds, can experience such a perception differential of time that another man’s five minutes can be weeks for him.
no subject
It's been a half hour of sitting and the sky is getting dark. Let's move, speedy.
no subject
“Of course. Want a lift?”
He could just carry Steve carrying the food. Faster. Right? Not a need for approval there. Tommy doesn’t need approval. Steve just has the food and Tommy wants to eat.
no subject
"Uh," he sums up, not moving. "I think I might be a little heavy. But you can take the food and come back?"
no subject
"Dude, I can lift a literal ton. Okay, I can only lift 850, but seriously, if you're that dense, that's pretty impressive."
So he starts moving, walking away from Cap like he isn't even bothered by how slow he has to go for a normal person.
no subject
Like he can talk.
"What do you do in your universe? Save people? Part of the Avengers?
Compete in the Olympics?"
no subject
"First, the speed and strength are a package deal. If my muscles weren't stronger, how would I even be able to push off the ground hard enough to go fast? So it's like... if super powers were an umbrella, those two would be under mine. Speed means you've gotta have some strength. Like people with super solder serum like you. Strength, faster than most, heal better, look pretty."
Tommy shrugs.
"Or maybe I have them together because, you know, mutants. But they wouldn't let us compete in the olympics. I guess Northstar did, for skiing. Surprised they haven't taken his gold away. Because humans are pretty racist."
no subject
He keeps thinking though and thinks, suddenly, that maybe he was only partially correct. He'd said 'us', after all. And something told Steve that Tommy didn't mean white guys with blonde hair.
"Mutants? Like Kitty?" He remembers talking to her about it. The idea that Tommy came from that same place makes him feel instantly sympathetic.
"They don't like people with powers?"
no subject
"Kitty? Let me guess, last name Pryde, with a 'y', goes through things? If so, totally like that. She's an X-Man. And no, some people do. But come on, with all the racism against Jews when you were younger, and all the shit against black people, are you really shocked when humans get freaked over a fucking actual genetic difference as opposed to religion or melanin levels?"
no subject
"I guess I can understand. But those differences make you all strong. It lets you protect people." Or hurt them, he recognizes. Just look at what happened with Wanda and the Accords. Steve purses his lips and exhales sharply though his nose.
"Yeah. Yeah, I guess I can still see it.
"Was it hard for you? Back home? I heard a little from Kitty, but..."
