TEST DRIVE
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the first Test Drive for The Revival Project!

For those who do not know, this game is a spin-off from The Drift Fleet game, which is shortly closing. For more information about what this game is about, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

The TDM for the first round of applications is NOT required but is highly recommended. Really this is to see the interest level in the game as well as to have everyone interact on the new planet and with the new experiences offered here. There will be a post in the TDM where questions can be asked regarding the prompts/settings. We're keeping this loose though so go ahead and have fun with it. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level so we know. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! The only option not allowed is to completely restart your character (because then it's not DFAU, is it?)

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

WHALE COMB PARTY

In the square near your arrival point, one building seems to be in fairly good repair. It’s large and stark white on every wall. Unlike the other buildings, all the lights are on and the windows looking out are intact. That alone would make it remarkable but it’s hardly the most noticeable thing once you step inside the open doorway.

Hanging against one wall is a piece of fabric that has ‘WHALE COMB!’ painted on it in drippy, fluorescent pink letters. A smiley is painted underneath it right on the wall with three eyes and long fangs. The fangs drip down all the way to the floor and the eyes are just a blob of paint, but whoever left it seems to have been trying, here. ‘US THANK THEY!’ is written beside it, barely legible. On every other wall is ‘EAT’ in various sizes and colors. They thankfully don’t drip as much as the smiley since, beneath them, are tables upon tables of food.

There are meats, fruits, root vegetables, and even what might be a sweet dessert of some sort as well. Bowls are full of them, apparently a welcome dinner for the Agrii’s new heroes. At the very least it will give everyone a quick crash course on what is edible around here. But some of it might have … adverse effects:

- People chomping down on the striped meat all seem to get very drowsy a few minutes later.
- The red fruit that looks like a giant cherry is the equivalent of a few shots - the more consumed, the more drunken this party is getting.
- There is a bowl of weeds that have small, daisy-like flowers all along the stalks. This tastes like chicken and gives the eater a sudden burst of energy that will have them running around the room like they’re being chased.
-There are a collection of drinks, some made from the red fruit, some that are clearly water, some that taste like a less-sweet lemonade with no effects, and then there's a blue one that tastes like an especially dark beer. People drinking this will find themselves incapable of lying for a half hour.

Of course, no way to know any of this before you chow down. So dig in and enjoy the show!

LOST AND ALONE

They said don’t go into the forest. If the noises there weren’t deterrent enough then the thick trees and lack of paths should have been. Yes, you’ll need food. Yes, both meat and many fruits are in the forest. But maybe you should have gotten some more information before heading in.

Congratulations: you went into the forest and are now lost. You can’t hear the murmurings from town, nor can you see any of the lights that might be flickering on and off in the city. How are you going to get back into town? How do you make sure that the creatures here don’t attack you? You probably don’t have any weapons, so you’d better figure something out quick.

Or, maybe you’ll get lucky and run into another foolish person wandering around out here. Try not to attack them - unless they attack first.

MILES TO GO

The first thing every survivor needs to find is shelter. Not long after your arrival at the fountain, it’s getting darker now and, even if the night is short (you’re about to find out it’s not!), you don’t want to spend your first one out on an unfamiliar street. Distantly you can hear a sound like a wolf howling through an elephant’s trunk. It’s loud and alien. Maybe you want to find somewhere to sleep a little more quickly.

Right away there are two pretty solid options that will do nicely for the night: an abandoned hotel-like structure and some empty stores.

The hotel structure seems to be the most popular option for others. Its large, overgrown lobby leads you to the staircase and over a dozen floors of rooms in varying conditions. Despite it looking as though no one has set foot in here for decades, the stairs and floors all are secure. The rooms that have doors on them open up to dusty rooms that all have a bathroom (of sorts) attached and long, narrow bed frames. Figuring out a mattress will be a challenge but at least this is a safe place to sleep. As long as no animals laid claim to this room before you got in...

But let’s say the room in the hotel doesn’t work for you. Maybe the room is too small for you. Maybe you don’t like the stairs. Maybe you want someplace private to separate yourself from the rest of these strangers and to think quietly about what to do next. Either way, the other option is any number of abandoned stores lining the block where you arrived. The glass doors and windows of many are broken but there are just as many intact as well. The rooms are all large and empty, as whatever wares inside were either taken or dissolved over the years. There may be a counter or two that will get you off the ground, though. With all this space, you’re bound to find something to sleep on.

Unless someone else got there, first...

Thrawn | Star Wars | OTA

Whale Comb

Thrawn had gained consciousness in a new and unknown environment on a new and unknown planet. Getting away from being out in the open first he moved toward the building with fully operational lights in the interior. Of course, it appeared to be a trap of some sort, an admittedly obvious one, but the best way to avoid a trap is by first triggering it.

The beings that created such a trap seemed to have an imperfect grasp of Basic. And they were absent entirely right down to leaving traces of themselves behind. Even the placement of the painted words offered no clues as they were at varying heights. There looked to be preparations for a banquet and the painted letters encouraged others to eat, but Thrawn refrained from trying anything and only took some water for himself.

This appeared to be some sort of welcoming ceremony. So Thrawn resolved to stay where he was and see who else this was a ceremony meant to welcome.

Lost and Alone

He preferred learning about the planet by observing it without the settlement intruding. Though now he was thoroughly lost as he could no longer locate the settlement at all. He was more annoyed with himself than afraid of the environment, though. Thrawn's glowing red eyes were visible as he stepped lightly around obstacles in his path, his vision still as acute as though it were as bright as the noonday sun before him.

Interest piqued by the vines and their flowers glowing a soft blue, Thrawn reached a careful finger out to trail along a single petal.

Miles To Go

He did not know the area or Thrawn would have preferred to stay in an overgrown structure as it would precisely be where others were not. But with no useful knowledge of the planets flora and fauna doing so would be suicidal. Instead, he chose one of the empty shops. Luckily he didn't need much in the way of sleep but a roof to block the elements was a necessity. There was a broken out window already that offered useful ventilation for a possible fire but Thrawn did not make one. He put the few scavenged things he had already located in the store together and set to sharpening the metal edge of a window bar.

The dull scrape of metal against metal emanates from inside one of the shops that Carol's passing by as she's checking out the perimeter of the town square, and that's never been a particularly kind noise, but it seems all the more concerning now. It could be nothing, of course - people need knives to survive, after all - but her concern multiplies when she looks through the broken window.

There's still no love lost between her and the Kree - never mind that it's been decades since they screwed her over, or that she doesn't even know this guy personally.

She makes her way to the door and leans against the frame casually. "You planning on staying out here all by yourself, or you wanna come back to the hotel with everyone else?"

Thrawn had heard only the sound of scraping metal and therefore missed Carol's approach. He looked up now, faintly startled that anyone was able to sneak up on him. But he did not let that feeling show in his expression or body language.

"Actually, I was planning to stay out here by myself."

Carol was a human female, adult. It was not possible to tell more than that by her clothing since it was all unknown to him.

Eli had been exploring the layout of the land, wanting to gain a better understanding of the area. He still hadn't figured out how purpose here or how he even wound up here. It still felt almost dreamlike to be real. In fact he thought he was dreaming when he saw familiar blue figure in a white uniform standing near by.

"I would be careful if I were you. There's no data around to provide information on this planet. We have no idea what type of fauna and flora that reside here." Eli warned in greeting. "I've been trying to gather what information I could since my arrival."

Thrawn certainly hadn't expected to hear a voice this far from the settlement, nevermind it being that voice. He couldn't help the pleased feeling that seeing Eli elicited, so much so that Thrawn actually had a small smile at seeing Eli as he turned around.

"I have not been killed by airborne pollen yet and since there is less pollen on the outer part of the petals, I am willing to take the risk."

Anyway, Thrawn was curious.

"Greetings. I was not expecting to see you again so soon."

[personal profile] thrawnsaide 2019-09-02 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Eli smiled, excited to see Thrawn here and also aware of the fact that the Chiss was smiling as well. It was rare to see him smile at all.

"Why must you think of things in such a foreboding way? It's clear our paths are going to keep crossing even if I may be with the Ascendancy and you're dealing with Lothal." Eli replied as he reached over to gently pull Thrawn's hand away from the plant. He couldn't risk his friend getting sick or injured for curiosity's sake.

"I still would feel safer if we had better equipment to collect the flora. The food they gave us at the hotel was not what it seemed and produced strange effects on people. It makes me hesitant to trust anything around here."

"Starting with a worst-case scenario is always prudent. While I am also certain your time has been greatly occupied, it is still good to see you are well."

Eli only one small smile, though. His expression smooths back out into neutral.

"I did not think it wise to stay near the hotel and have been using one of the abandoned shops. It is unfortunate that food is a necessity. Without proper scanning equipment, it will be a matter of trial and error."

Which could lead to everything from upset stomachs to feelings of euphoria.

"I don't know you tend to be pretty dramatic sometimes. I'm just glad that you are at least here. It feels like the old times," Eli stated and released Thrawn's hand once he was away from the plant.

"I found a few tools that might benefit us in obtaining food and other supplies," Eli hesitantly admitted. He realized with his time with the Ascendancy that he missed being with Thrawn. While Thrawn was indeed different from the rest of the Chiss, he was a close friend and someone Eli trusted and admired.

Thrawn could absolutely be dramatic. As well as his humor being dry as dust. At the moment he put those hands behind his back as he turned toward Eli.

"Good. The next task for us will be finding a source of water."

The assumed pooling of supplies with Eli was instant and showed how much Thrawn trusted Eli in turn. In fact, Eli was probably the only human that Thrawn trusted. Certainly, the only human Thrawn trusted this much.

[personal profile] thrawnsaide 2019-09-04 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's not too hard here at least, finding reliable water that is," Eli stated. "With all this flora around there should be an abundance. I also saw a fountain at one point."

Eli handed Thrawn his own canteen of water, in case the other needed a drink. "I'm finding it hard to find a reliable food source."

Accepting the canteen, Thrawn did take a drink.

"Yes, that is where I first regained consciousness." It was also from there that Thrawn first saw the 'Whale Comb' structure. Which then begged questions related to how they were all brought here, but it was not likely that Eli would have answers for those questions.

"As I already stated: finding food will be a matter of trial and error. For the moment using the food offered in the buffet as a guideline will be the first place to start. The fruits were round so logically they would grow from a tree so that they were off the ground and the root vegetables were fully edible so the distinctive flowers will mark them. The flowers and fruits should be among this abundant vegetation."

The blue man has picked up a tail. In the undergrowth a four-legged shadow moves, the sleek black fur of a jungle cat moving amidst the shadow of the trees. Yet no attack has come, partly as Mystique simply feels no need and partly because she is more than a little curious.

He looks slightly like a man she'd enjoyed a brief fling with several decades ago. Different skin tone yes and interestingly one that matched her own, but the same eyes and hair, although no tail. Another mutant? It's possible and their similarities in appearance are enough to peak her interest.

From the surrounding foliage there's the soft indefinable slither and squelch of shifting skin and bone and a moment later a blue woman, bare save for a covering of scales, emerges silently from the undergrowth, her posture carefully neutral and un-threatening.

"Some of those are poisonous." Is her only observation and the way she announces her presence, lambent yellow eyes watching him unblinkingly with studied disinterest. She doesn't bother to add any further warning, if he's not intelligent enough to heed the initial warning it's nothing to her.

He neither turned nor acknowledged another presence. Even after she spoke he did not turn away from what he was focused on.

"I have not been killed by airborne pollen yet and since there is less pollen on the outer part of the petals, I am willing to take the risk."

He did not touch the plant further, though. Instead, he put behind his back and turned toward Mystique.

"You speak as if you know the flora of this place. Does that knowledge extend to what is edible?"
