Yes, it is reasonable to assume that effects would be muted. But only muted. Those that would do things such as make one ill or 'trip' as it were would be resisted (unless you wanted otherwise for your own interest). Those that paralyze, blind, or otherwise impair the body would likely work but for sorter periods of time.
