I don't have much idea to go with for him, save him maybe trying to repair tools to use against the Thorntooths, or maybe building structures to try and make somewhere safe (maybe at the hangar entrance?) such as spike walls and such low enough that people could jump over but the Thorntooths can't.

If anything, he might stay at his factory to try and keep the plants back/get them out before relocating.
