Welcome to October. It's time for our monthly IC announcements.
He Rows are already aware that they are quite frequently watched by the Agrii, and some likely suspect that there might be other (more malevolent) forces watching them as well. As of October, new observers are more open in sharing their study. Thanks to some actions taken by He Rows in the past months (see Recent Story Summary), Funfronds and Barrys are now more aware of He Rows and watching them more readily. The previously shy creatures will seem to be spending October in observation of the Agrii-chosen residents of the cities. The Funfronds will be far more active in Temba, and Barrys far more active in Sh'Ka, but He Rows can expect to be under the attentions of both groups in both cities.
The observers may not be noticed at first, either because they are small, their appearances may camoflague them with the natural settings outdoors, or simply because they hide. But it is entirely possible that He Rows may find themselves the objects of quiet study. This will be more likely in the greenhouses, outdoors, and in places which are regularly open and thus allow the little creatures to get inside. He Rows that are careful can interact with their little visitors, and perhaps even contrive to communicate.
Whether communicating or not, it is clear that they are under some form of study, with the creatures sometimes breaking off to speak among themselves in the manners suited to their kinds. Those with communications datapoints will of course be able to understand them without issue, and find these creatures are actively debating things like what He Rows are doing, levels of intelligence, and even the question as to whether or not He Rows are actually intelligent beings or something on the level of the local animals, just brought in from off planet.
Caution is advised when interacting with these parties of observers for a variety of reasons. Funfronds seem to flee quickly when there are very loud noises, heavy footfalls, or hard strikes against surfaces, which suggest a sensitivity to vibrations. Barry observers, on the other hand, seem to be escorted by at least one Barry that never converses with the others, and holds small and sharp looking thorns or spines affixed to sticks that might well be weapons. Aggressive actions toward these groups might end up in some bad feelings all around.
Of course, it's also completely possible to just ignore these groups, try to shoo them away, or just stay away from points of easy access, such as indoors behind closed doors, or on higher levels of buildings as the creatures are never seen off the ground floor of any structures except for the greenhouses.
As is noted in the Fall TDM, autumn has come and is now fully upon the He Row locales of Agra-10. Again, He Rows can continue to expect a dip in temperatures throughout the month, with more being in the area of a pleasant chill to the edge of deeper cold than in the previous month. Local fauna are continuing their habits of trying to put away food stores, glutting themselves to build up fat, or otherwise preparing for the coming cold, to the point where some might consider raiding improperly secured He Row stores.
The peak time for harvesting local plants that aren't in the greenhouses is coming to a rapid peak, and will by the end of October be almost finished. He Rows might to well to continue any harvest and storage efforts they might have, as food will, as in previous years, be more limited in the winter months (beyond what is available in the two greenhouses). At this point, though, it is absolutely certain that any increased and strange growth that had happened back in August has finally, and fully, died back. Though this seems to go hand in hand with more frequent sightings of Funfronds around Temba (see New Watchers). In Sh'Ka, He Rows are cautioned to beware of continued falling stone-leaves, which are falling with more regularity now, and some of the leaves have grown to the size of dinnerplates. Hardhats may be advised.
Around the 11th of the month, those He Rows in Temba will start to notice that the weather is, in general, starting to grow slightly ominious. As of that morning the sky will be completely overcast, and as the day progresses, the clouds will grow steadily darker. A similar change in weather will become visible over Sh'Ka by the morning of the 12th. Soon after that the sky over both cities will begin to rumble and pound with noise, as if there was a violent storm occurring above that has yet to drop rain upon the locals. By the thirteenth a thick mist will also settle in around the cities, and from then what is going on might be apparent. A storm approaches, and soon might break over all.
Many things have come to pass on Agra-10 in the relaxed fall atmosphere. A number of projects have been started by residents, including but not limited to: Tony Stark making a wave of presents again, Dustin advancing some 'secretive' work at the Amphitheater in Temba, and Wilson
Meanwhile others on the planet are working to learn new things, and thereby are coming to help the community. For instance some of the medics seem to have realized that there may be biological differences between He Rows and are trying to come to understand differences for better future treatment. In another, similar to medical direction, others are learning about germs and their connection to disease. Who knew that was even a thing?
Other He Rows have been working toward making new, or perhaps deeper emotional connections. In the past months He Rows have been observed by the Agrii displaying a whole range of complicated relationship statuses, such as examples of weddings, beginnings of romances, and of course, the pain others experience at the loss of those they care about. These are things Agrii may understand in some small ways, but He Rows should remember they are here to help the Agrii not only in answering these Energy Storms and restoring their world, but also to help the Agrii learn about society, connections, and how to function once more as a people. Surely even these little steps help.
Perhaps one of the most shocking revelations that might well affect the future of all He Rows, though, was a discovery by one of their younger members. Turns out that during the plant invasion there was more to be found than just the murals and the Thorntooths. Indeed, active contact has been made now with the Funfrond people of Temba. This encounter has revealed a few things:
What does all of this mean? It seems that the Funfronds at least are fighting hard against invasive species of plants that have been warped by their planting here, as well as further altered by Energy Storms. But the question is just what isn't a native species? How can He Rows tell when most everything that altered grew without He Rows planting them? Perhaps this is something that can be further investigated, now that the Funfronds are aware that it is in fact possible to converse with He Rows, rather than seeing He Rows as nothing more than a different sort of fauna.- The Funfronds were not aware that 'animals' such as the He Rows were capable of communication in an intelligent manner and are properly sentient and sapient creatures.
- That the Funfronds see themselves as responsible for fixing the 'wrongness' of foreign plants brought by Animals 'not of here' who have come many times.
- Greenhouses have what Funfronds consider 'pure' soil and water, which relates to controlled and proper plant growth that they do not need to 'fix' as much.
- On the other hand to this, non-native plants may grow sick and thus improperly. This, furthered by the 'Wrong Storm' led to the overgrowth issues.
- The issues the Funfronds have faced have been around for a very long time, before the 'Many-Arms', though the Barry colonies of Sh'Ka may have a better explanation as 'Far Animals' came there first.
That said, with this connection between Funfronds and He Rows beginning to be forged, He Rows might well start to see the little people out and about more often, and even pausing to observe He Rows in their activities in small groups (see New Watchers).
Please remember, we encourage players to make use of the comments here for plotting if they wish to use it as such.

What’s Been Going On?
After all, when He Rows are all informed of what is going on, they might be able to use that information to continue building the results they want to see on Agra-10!
