Spring Test Drive Meme!
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.
- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...
- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.
- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.
- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...
Re: Hospital
[The hospital seemed to be barely standing, a worrying fact to her, given that those in need of treatment shouldn't have to worry about dilapidation. There didn't seem to be anyone else around, as far as she could tell. No sick and hardly any staff. Without knowing much about this world, it was hard to consider what might be the cause and how this might be remedied.
The fact that Jon looked so tired had Daenerys smiling at him in sympathy and thanks. Kindness at all was a great gesture.]
I am a new arrival, I suppose. I was trying to find my bearings and take in...everything, but it is a bit overwhelming.
My name is Daenerys.

[ Though Altair may hardly need his help. But that is beside the point. Jon gives a nod at her name, then offers a small smile. ]
It most certainly is a lot. And I can only say that you might well take your time to get used to the city. Very little happens here aside from the ruins slowly degrading further.
I can offer you some tea, though.
no subject
[She thinks she knows the answer already, but asks regardless, truly curious how this place was run.]
Is it impossible to repair the ruins? [It reminded her of Vaes Tolorro, her city of bones. There was at least more life here, enough that there was no question of survival. No one was panicking about food or water...at least from what she had seen, which was very little.] Have these ruins been occupied for long?
Thank you, I would like that.

[ Yes, that's a little shrug and Jon moves to step behind the nearby counter to fetch a clean cup and fill it with some tea from a vacuum flask also kept back there. Obviously there isn't much happening even in the hospital when the reception area is primarily being used to store tea supplies.
While he fills the cup, Jon keeps talking. ]
Yes, that's only two, but the current population of this place is less than thirty people. Some aren't human, others don't require medical attention at all. For the most part we clean this place up and work on restoring its functionality.
[ Because a working hospital is something they might need at some point. Though Jon already knows that he will eventually drift fully over to the library. Filling those empty shelves...
He hands the cup over with a short nod. ]
And it would be about half a year - If... Years are a measurement of time you are familiar with. As for repairing the ruins... [ An exhale. And a shrug. ] Might depend? The damage isn't the same everywhere. Some are reduced to piles of rubble, others... Mostly intact.

That's fortunate at least. [It meant that they weren't overworked and didn't have time to keep this place in working order. After the outbreak of the Grey Mare in Meereen, she had seen what happened when healers were overworked and accommodations for the sick were stretched thin.] Would a fresh pair of hands help at all? I don't know a great deal about healing, but I can learn quickly.
[Even if it was simply cleaning or just straightening things, it might be better to have three people rather than two.]
How long have you been here?
no subject
Me? Oh. About two months now, I suppose. There are plenty around that have been here longer than me. As for helping with the hospital...
[ He trails off for a moment, casting a look around before simply nodding. ]
It certainly would be appreciated. I also have the library not far from here I am working to restore and come over here when I have the time - Or when I'm actually being needed. One person can't run an entire hospital after all. Those empty shelves are more forgiving in many ways.
no subject
[Two months. It may not seem long to him, but for her, it seemed unthinkable someone could be here and no return home.]
How is it we're brought here?
no subject
We have a library, yes. It contains exactly one book.
[ And a certain Exo has used it to write his story between the actual story. ]
I am working on recordings of... Well. Hopefully some more personal accounts. To teach the Agrii about us so we may hopefully learn about them in return.
[ Their understanding of basic English and grammar is atrocious, sorry. ]
And I'm sorry, but that... That's not an answer I have. As I said, there is a lot we still need to figure out.
The Data Point by the fountain is still one of our main sources of information. I assume you have seen, possibly even touched it already.
no subject
[Given that she hadn't expected any books here, she shouldn't feel surprised at the number, still it seemed much to small if a library existed. Given her life though and the scarcity of so much, one book would have been a treasure to her.]
Who are the Argii?
[It was a noble effort, but any that could benefit them mutually would be.]
I...I haven't. I haven't touched anything that I didn't understand. Ruins, I am familiar with. A data point? I have never heard of it before.
no subject
[ He won't mention that it will literally dump all of those right into her head, should she decide to seek it out. ]
There are others around to teach you various skills. This hospital, for example, houses the data point for the medical specialization. Mostly teaching you how to use some of the equipment here in the hospital.
[ Of which a lot is broken down and useless by now. ]
no subject
[Yes. It was better to watch and learn by example rather than flail madly about.]
It seems that we have a great deal of time on our hands in these ruins. At least we have a means to make ourselves useful.
What is Treasure Planet?
