Spring Test Drive Meme!
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.
- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...
- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.
- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.
- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...
exploration
Here, here the Force was so quiet. Barely a movement, besides his own, and Cal's.
That silence was near maddening at times, when he was so used to reaching out and feeling an entire world trying to reach back.
So when another presence arrived, he sensed it first. It was familiar, in a way. But not, at the same time. New, though, he thought. Which probably meant that whoever it was was confused and in need of answers.
His dualsaber at his side, Altair set out to find this new presence- and came to a halt once he saw him. Oh no.
His dualsaber was pulled immediately, thin red blades flaring to life, his posture defensive rather than aggressive, "One wrong move, Ren, and you'll get to know what facing a true Sith is like-"
He didn't want to fight. But he would.
Ren did feel different somehow though. But not enough to make Altair lower his guard.
no subject
He doesn't know how this particular Chiss has found him, though, and his eyebrows draw together as he tries to place him. It's been a tumultuous time since Rey has made herself known and the Resistance has tried to threaten the authority of the Order; could he have simply forgotten?
"I don't have any intention of dueling with someone on the same side of the Force as myself. I haven't even drawn my weapon," he says, showing his empty hands.
no subject
It's an easy enough assumption to make. He can see confusion, he can hear it in his voice. If he's lying, then he's been taking lessons since last they spoke, as the Ren that he came to hate would have drawn his lightsaber by now, or attacked him, or something.
Still, he didn't lower his guard, red eyes narrowing at the other man.
Had the Agrii returned him home for a time, only to drag him back without his memories of his time here? Altair wouldn't put it past the Agrii to do just that, he supposed.
"Regardless you seem to have the wrong idea about how Sith relate to each other. Sith don't need an excuse to try and kill each other- only a cover story depending on their victim."
Though all things considered, that wasn't at all surprising. Ren wasn't a Sith in the traditional sense- and probably didn't think of himself as one, either. Not to mention he was from a different time- and Altair was from a time where there were thousands of Sith, where attempted murdered might as well be considered a traditional greeting.
"What are your intentions?"
Even though the Sith Code would embrace it, Altair wouldn't fight a man who hadn't even drawn his weapon, who wasn't acting aggressive. Even with his hatred. It's not like he hasn't put his hatred aside before.
no subject
"I have no intention of killing anyone who might give me useful information right now. Are you planning on being useful or are you just going to accuse me of being ignorant in Sith greeting customs? I assure you, I'm versed enough to know how to run you through with a lightsaber. Now, what system is this?"
no subject
Threatening, but not aggressive to the point of idiocy. Seems the Agrii have taken him and returned him without his memories indeed. Another few seconds pass, before he returns his dualsaber to its place at his hip. His guard was still up- his stance was enough to suggest that he'd fight if it came down to it.
But Ren wasn't being overly aggressive, so he would return the favor. If only to avoid a fiasco.
"Can't tell you what system it is. Planet is Agra 10, the city- what remains of it, at any rate- is Temba."
He sighed softly, "And the ones responsible for bringing you- for bringing all of us- here, are the Agrii. They've brought us here to solve the mystery of the storms that plague the planet, though they seem to have no control over who gets dragged here to play hero for them. Different universes, different times. I, for example, am from nearly four-thousand years in the past."
Difficult to believe, perhaps, but he left himself open enough that Ren would be able to sense the truth in his words.
"And you have been here before."
no subject
He would assume they are, considering they need his help in solving the problem of their storms. He's no scientist and has no interest in becoming one.
"You would be an apparition if you were 4000 years old. A strong Force user, to manifest how you do, but an apparition."
no subject
It happened to be one of those things he's frustrated about. After all, how can he defend against a race so adept at moving about unseen. And moving them about without them having any awareness of it. Ren is, of course, the last person he'll start in on those worries with, and he shook his head.
"Different times, different universes. Apparently wiping minds through some method that is not the Force. The way the Agrii sometimes communicate with us make them seem like simpletons, but I'd say their technology proves that that is not the case. Even what can be found in the ruins of this once great civilization."
His time spent with the Reclamation service, the Eternal Empire and their tech, Iokath. Well, he's a lot more familiar with these kinds of things than he once was.
"And believe me, had I been a 4000 year old apparition, we'd be finding parts of you all over the place. 2000 years was enough for my ancestor to not recognize my presence in the Force. And believe me, getting Force-choked by an angry Sith spirit? Not something you want to put into your schedule."
Any older than Aloysius had been, well... He'd seen the lunacy of ancient Sith, bound eternally to their tombs. Not something he'd wish on anyone else.
no subject
Just like his grandfather before him. Darth Vader had been a powerful Sith lord except he had been weak to his family same as Ren himself is weak to Rey. It causes him to war within himself, to think there are other truths. To have everything upended after so long - it's maddening.
"You've not chosen to eliminate me even though I am a rival. Why?"
no subject
"My, don't we have a high opinion of ourselves?" He asked, "Do you think Sith go making rivals of others the instant they see them?"
He'd had rivals. Once. Not so much any more.
"Sorry to burst your bubble, but Sith didn't go making every Force-sensitive they saw into rivals the moment they met them. We're capable of playing nice. I may not like you, but for the moment, I see no reason to attack you."
For the moment, that was. That could change very quickly.
no subject
It's a puzzle. This place, too, is a puzzle and he doesn't know how or why he's come to be here. The Chiss before him seems to think he's not a very good Sith and Ren thinks the same in reverse.
"Have you never heard of the Rule of Two? There's only two Sith at one time because they're prone to killing one another."
no subject
He supposed, technically speaking, he had stopped being merely Sith some time ago. He wasn't bound to only the Dark side of the Force, and knew very well that the Force was more than Dark or Light. It was the single thing he could agree with Valkorion on. Of course, getting into that was something he'd rather not do with Ren.
Seemed like it'd fly right over his head, anyway.
"The Sith I know are perfectly capable of being civil."
So long as it served a purpose. It was why, at home, he was in such a perfect position to bring about some positive change. Of course he wouldn't say that, either.
